How To Automate PayPal Subscription with Aweber

In my post on how to move a subscriber from one list to another, William Rodgers of The Marketing Secrets Blog made a comment about the PayPal app that Aweber offers which allow you to add PayPal customers to your email list when they purchase a product. I wrote about this a while back.

What I want to show you today is another PayPal Aweber trick: how to integrate Aweber with PayPal subscriptions. This will be extremely useful if you offer paid newsletter subscriptions. By integrating Aweber with PayPal, you’ll be able to manage subscribers with ease.

You can use this feature for anything requiring PayPal subscription. This will work great with membership sites or advertising sales (all my ads are sold with PayPal subscription). Adding value through an email campaign tied to a subscription is a great idea, and gives customers another reason to stay with you. Here’s how to do it.

1 – Set Up A PayPal Subscription

The first step in setting up this integration is to create a subscription in PayPal. I did a screencast video on how to do this while ago. You can watch it below.

2 – Set Up The Aweber PayPal App

The next step is to set up the PayPal app in your AWeber account. You can find the app at the My Apps page of your Aweber admin. The following video will explain the step by step.

Once the two steps are completed, your PayPal subscription will be automated with Aweber. When customers buy a subscription, AWeber will automatically add them to your list. Then, if they cancel their payment, they will be unsubscribed. When they catch back up on their payments, they go back on the list – everything is automated.

By setting this up, you’ll also be able to use all the features I talked about in my previous blog post about Aweber automation rule, which allows you to move customers to new lists when they make a purchase and having a different list for each product that you offer.

Try Aweber for Only $1.00

Aweber offers a $1 trial account for all new customers. The account is just like a normal Aweber account and includes unlimited email campaigns, newsletter, broadcasts and follow ups. It’s a great way to test drive Aweber to see what it can do for your blog. Your satisfaction is guaranteed. If you find that email marketing is not for you, contact Aweber within 30 days and they’ll give you the $1 back.

    Hello John,

Would you recommend constant contact? I sell on eBay for many years, and have a list of around 5000 customers… Not sure if i can import them to Aweber.. would it be better to look for different email marketing provider? sincerely, fion

  7. thanks for the information. I have long wanted to do this but I didn’t know it was really possible.

  8. A weber is a great email marketing tool and this is a great feature which adds more value to this tool. But is this legal to do as paypal email addresses are not opt-in email addresses, they are simply customers buying products (most of the time just one time purchase). Thanks.

  9. Alright I got it. Thanks for letting me know.
