How To Increase Your Email Conversions With a Smart Video Thank You Page

The thank you page is the first thing a new subscriber experiences after signing up to your email newsletter or marketing campaign. It does a lot to establish expectations about you and your blog.

It’s also where you can knock their socks off.

An awesome thank you page can get subscribers excited about receiving your emails, making each and every broadcast you send a celebratory occasion for them. (Or, at the very least, make them more likely to open your emails.)

When Aweber redesigned their Web Form Generator, they also created a more personalized thank you page experience for your subscribers. I’ve been testing their Smart Video Thank You page and the results has been fantastic.

A Smarter Way To Say Thank You

Smart Video Thank You pages are a happy medium between AWeber’s default thank you page and your own custom thank you page URL. Aweber can pass subscriber form data to the video thank you page so that everyone who signs up to your list gets a unique experience.

With the Aweber Smart Video Thank You Page, your subscriber see their name with your confirmation subject line instead of a generic “Check Your Inbox” message. And it’s as simple as choosing Smart Video Version from the thank you page drop down menu.

Smart Video Thank You Page

A really great feature of the Smart Video Thank You page is it will pick out the subscriber’s email provider and adjust the video accordingly. So if someone enters an address that includes @gmail.com, they’ll see a video telling them to check their Gmail inbox. Likewise with Yahoo, Hotmail and many others.

If Aweber doesn’t have a specific video available (say, for addresses at personal domains), your subscriber will see a video showing the most popular email application for their operating system (Outlook for Windows, Mail for Mac OS X). The Smart Video Thank You page is probably the closest thing to magic you can experience using a web form.

A good looking web form makes a great first impression on a subscriber, but an engaging thank you page is just as important. You can shape expectations and build anticipation, all the while directing the subscriber to their inbox.

email list is the key!!! totally agreed!! thanks for the share!

Email list is the key, but don’t email your subscribers too much! I subscribed to many list and will certainly unsubcrive many of these list because it looks too spammy for me, just receiving affiliate products links….

      1. you’re right that you don’t want to send them everything and anything all the time but you want to keep up with them on a reg basis and send info that is beneficial and important to them.

I love the idea of having a vid…vid are rising up…consider youtube…and don’t forget that no one is expecting the “perfect” professional vid….they are looking for the content first

        1. The money CAN be in the list, but it all depends on if you build a relationship with them or not. A list of 1000 loyal subscribers will many times out perform a non responsive list of 10,000. Give quality information, and don’t treat your list like it’s supposed to be an atm machine and your chances of success multiply by 10.

    2. That’s what everyone keeps saying, build a list, the money is in the list.

  2. B7 says:

Wow, I didn’t even know that. We use Aweber and never even thought much about the thank you page. Thanks!

    1. Benjamin Cip says:

It sure is a great AWeber feature! Talking about AWeber, I’ll soon receive my affiliate commission from them =) Can’t wait to see how much I gained…

    1. Benjamin Cip says:

I really like this way to say thank you as well.

  4. Nick Aviles says:

It’s also as important not to complicate stuff. Simplicity is the key, and not everyone really needs a reminder of how to check their email..

    1. Benjamin Cip says:

      Totally agree with you Nick..

  5. chester says:

Looks pretty promising. Anyone have firsthand experience with this?

  11. Zak Show says:

This is a nice offer, $1 for the first month is a bargain, but what about the second month? How much it’s going to cost??

    1. John Chow says:

It depends on how many people you have on your list. Prices start at $19 per month.

      1. Kevin Pasco says:

Even up to 25,000 people on your list it’s just $130 per month!

        1. With a list of 25K, that $130 a month is pocket change if you have built a relationship with them.

  12. fas says:

Aweber has some really cool features, no doubt the best platform out there.

  13. EarningStep says:

  15. Hi John,

Just watching Eben Pagen’s Guru Home Study course and he mentions that double opt in will kill your business potential.

However I was at one of your live talks a few months ago, and you both use and promote AWeber. Isn’t AWeber a double opt in?

Doing further research I can see that both of you are very well respected in the online community, but I’m wondering – have you ever tried any of the single opt in methods? Just curious if any of your other businesses are getting a better response rate with single rather than double.

    Thanks a Bunch!

    1. Kevin Pasco says:

If you don’t have a double opt-in you’ll be dealing with hundreds of spammers and tire-kickers on your list though.

      1. how does double opt in prevent spammers? I mean aren’t I the one sending stuff to them (and not the other way around?)

Tire kickers, I understand – jumping the extra hoop just means they’re that much more interested I suppose, but wouldn’t you just utilize a split list (have people from list 1 join list 2) and go from there? (still utilizing single opt in)

  16. It look like it’s probably worth trying for only $1

  17. Aweber seems to be pretty much the leader of the pack of email marketing service providers. $19 a month is very reasonable, even for the small guys.

  18. Winagain says:

Great tip! I’ve been using aweber for some time now, but didn’t notice this feature. Have to try it right away.

  19. Tinh says:

My English is not good enough then video is not my preferred marketing way. I will try then but email is still my favorite one

  20. Dean Saliiba says:

£20 a month is a bit too much for something for me to spend money on with no proof of a return.

Maybe in a year or two.

    1. $20 seems to small of a price for the money I make from it!

      In less than 2 months!

    2. You can make that money back 10X’s over with a list of even 100 people if you take care of them. You can put your offer infront of the same people multiple times and have a better chance of making a sale than just hoping that they pick something up the one time they visit your website.

  21. costera says:

    @Dan Salliba :
    $19 is not £20
    $19 is less than £12

    …And $1 is £0.61…

  22. abrablog says:

ehm. i know about that list. But i hate for someone use it to spamming everyday..

  23. This is a little off topic, but I’m curious how do you guys get a picture on your comment?

  24. bestlinh says:
