How To Install WordPress – A Step By Step Video

I’ve decided to add to my step by step guide on how to install WordPress with a step by step video. Why? Because many people don’t like reading 1000 word long guides and would rather just sit in a nice comfy chair and watch a video on how it’s done.

The video shows the steps I go through when someone orders my free WordPress installation service. After watching the video, I feel that you should be able to install WordPress all by yourself. However, if you’re still feeling a little intimidated by process, feel free to order my free WordPress installation service and I’ll do it for you.

Now would actually be a great time to use my service and start your WordPress blog since HostGator is having a 20% off sale. You can get a hosting plan for as low as $3.95 a month right now. And if you use the coupon code JohnChowRocks, they’ll give you the first month for just 1 cent! I’m not sure how long HostGator is running this special but if you’ve been thinking about starting a blog, now would be a great time to do it. Enjoy the video and let me know what you think.

  1. wow John bang bang and bang.

Three vital post on wordpress installation.

    Good going …

    1. Abhik says:

Amm!! I guess its the second consecutive post on installing wordpress.

(The first one on his installation service)

      1. Might be a consecutive post, but def has some value!

    2. Good going but its the third time

I dont know what’s going thru JC’s mind

      1. Internetsalsa says:

Its simple..He is just trying to get more people sign up with Hostgator under his link. When you have a blog with so many visitors..Its worth it. ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. But the users can get angry too

You should think about them also

          Its not always about money

          1. PPC Ian says:

I agree to an extent. I think the challenge is John’s audience is so wide. He has both experts (like you and me) but also beginners. These posts are probably super interesting to beginners, but not so much for us. That said, I actually enjoy these posts from the perspective of making money online. Not that I’m learning new stuff since I’ve already been thru this many times, but from the standpoint of writing on my own blogs and websites – I like John’s strategy with these posts. As a parallel, he’s written just as many posts about Trey Smith lately and honestly I’m enjoying the WordPress installation stuff more because it’s free to the user.

          2. Well, I guess you don’t have to sign up for Host Gator then.

        2. lol…how many people are going to use this JC avatar instead of being creative on their own???

          1. Hey John,

Step by step videos are always good. Your videos are extremely valuable and everyone will benefit from watching them.

    3. d3so says:

A video is much easier because it’s more visual.
You’re really pushing this hostgator promo.

      1. Yes this one save time as well.

A combination of video and text is always killing one.

        1. I’m still not a fan of Hostgator though…give it some time, i’m sure John will do a comparison of other popular hosting with great WP features or installs.

      2. Videos help you see things as they actually are. There are people who still want to read even when having everything on the video.

    4. Good for noobs, but WordPress is pretty easy to set up.

  2. Abhik says:

Awesome John.. This video was necessary after that post.

    1. Abhik says:

Oh!! BTW, its Akismet, not ASKIMET ๐Ÿ˜€

      1. LOL…it’s john, not Michael Kwan who wrote this ok…give him a break ๐Ÿ™‚

    2. ikki says:

sure, wtith the post and the video, now its gonna be easy to instal WordPress

      1. It already was easy to install WordPress.

        1. Installing WP is easy but John is helping those who can’t seem to be able or want to do it themselves.

    3. d3so says:

Definitely supplemental to the previous post. It’s linkbait material and will probably rank well on search engines.

      1. Big players are ranking for this phrase “How to install wordpress”

But however I am sure within 3 months we will able to see John’s post as well for this phrase in search engine listing.

        1. RIght! It’s just a matter of time…youl’d be surprised at how some big guns do fall…

        2. ZK,

Why do you think it will take 3 months? It can happen a lot faster.

      2. Linkbait material. How’s that so?

    4. I dont think so but its still all good

  3. Alex Neill says:

Great stuff John, simple to follow along, now people have no excuse on setting up a blog in super fast time!

Might even branch out myself and start another couple of blogs as they are so simple to use and search engines seem to love them too.

    Alex

    1. Yes this one have few more usable tips which can be useful for those people who knows how to install wordpress.

      1. It’s def great for the absolute beginners…

        1. Not only absolute beginners. For people who don’t install WP every month or even every year it may be a good refresher too.

  4. Pumama says:

This is very basic video and it is helpful with new blogger :D.

    1. yes now you have too many options to learn about the installation of wordpress.

Video and whole one long post with the screenshot.

You just need own motivation now … to start it.

      1. John is making it very easy even for people with marginal motivation by doing the installs for them.

    2. Abhik says:

      yeah!!
It’s very basic, but that is all you need to do installing wordpress.

  5. Togrul says:

    Thanks for the video John.

So, whenever I’m asked about WordPress installation, I’ll forward them to this post ๐Ÿ™‚

    Cheers,
    Togrul

    1. John Chow says:

I think that is a great idea! ๐Ÿ˜€

      1. Jagan Mangat says:

        Nice video John Chow.

  6. desigac says:

I saw the nice video from you which is giving me good ideas about wordpress to be installed in hostgator. Thanks

  7. Hotdogman says:

Great series on installing WordPress. Whether you are a tactile, auditory or visual learner, these tips make it easy. You can even go the easy route and let John do it for you.

    WP here I come!

    1. Yes the best and easiest way is to ask John to do it for you.

This one will be free and you do not have to do anything.

      1. Yea, and someday you won’t have to even blog either. Just push a button and make money.

        1. Wouldn’t that be nice? Push button profits. Some gurus actually seem to promote products sounding like that.

    2. GIve it a bit, there will probably be more to come…although I’d like to see other types of guides…

  8. Hunh ?

Another post on WP installation ?

Im not able to understand whats going on here.

    1. Internetsalsa says:

      “Hunh ?

Another post on WP installation ?

Im not able to understand whats going on here.”

Its simple..He is just trying to get more people sign up with Hostgator under his link. When you have a blog with so many visitors..Its worth it. ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. PPC Ian says:

I think John is also trying to expand his audience. I bet his “core” audience are people that are already familiar to an extent with online marketing and blogging. Now, he’s including some content as well that targets newbies, a very important group.

        1. Well, i really dont have a problem with that. I wanna see him make more and more money but not at the cost of his reader base getting angry. 3 posts on the same topic in a weak pushing affiliate offers. Is not a good bet at all.

        2. d3so says:

It’s a good idea to revisit basic stuff to accomodate newbies.

          1. I would say so. You get so used to doing things your own way that you sometimes forget a step that can add value.

          2. Its good but not 3 times the same thing

      2. Its worth only to an extent

People come to this blog to learn new things and learn how to make money not to make you money actually. Its should stay this way only

        1. John can do and write about what he wants it’s his blog.

If you don’t like it that’s tough but it’s not for you to be telling John what to do.

      3. He is simply expanding his kingdom and with that he is also making more and more money.

But along with that he is also providing great resource to those people who do not know how to install wordpress.

        1. Im not saying dont post these kinda posts.

Im just saying to limit it and diversify your topics

          That’s it

          1. You’d be hard pressed to find a more diversified blog than John’s.

He is merely putting an emphasis on this which I think is only right. One post only wouldn’t be enough to hold the attention of this particular segment of his audience.

  9. I guess some people still don’t know too much about how to install a wordpress site. Hopefully this video will get the newbies on the right path..

    “Black Seo Guy “Signing Off”

    1. PPC Ian says:

I agree. This is truly helpful for any newbie trying to install WordPress on HostGator, or any other web host for that matter. (Although, I’m with John and recommend HostGator.) My site has been a lot quicker since I moved over.

      1. I would disagree Ian, I’ve had horrible experiences with hostgator and had to cancel my account…after getting hacked, incorrect billing, and a slew of other problems, I decided to stay as far from them as possible. Dreamhost and their one click installs are pretty awesome.

        1. It’s possible to have a bad experience even with an excellent company.

If Dreamhost makes a mistake are you going to badmouth them forever too?

    2. d3so says:

Installing wordpress isn’t difficult at all. But I can see how a newbie would have problems.
      Next, should be customizing wordpress.

      1. Abhik says:

That’s possibly beyond the scope of a video tut.

      2. It’s been a whiie since I’ve posted here…d3so…like the new avatar!

        1. D3so’s picture he uses now is worse than what he used before in my opinion.

It’s good to realize that other people actually like it better.

The goggles are awful I think.

  10. If you want to provide a tutorial to newbies, a video is always required. You will always end up creating a video anyway haha. A video is more helpful for newbies, any ‘Guru’ will tell you that.

    1. PPC Ian says:

I agree, on some of my websites, I don’t have a lot of new stuff to share but am going back and re-hashing my text posts as video. I’m finding a great response. People love video!

      1. Not just newbies, even people who arn’t familiar with the web in general. I would think most of the population looking for something online would prefer a video.

        1. You are probably right but there is a large segment of the population that prefers the printed word.

They like the videos but still want to read the information as well and if you’d give them a choice between only a video or as tet they’d pick the text.

It may have something to do with habits and the portability of the information.

  11. PPC Ian says:

Wow! Great video! This is incredibly helpful for someone new to WordPress and HostGator. I’m really curious how many people John has set up with HostGator. Must be a great win-win opportunity for John as an affiliate and the first-time bloggers he is helping out!

    1. Yeah, Im curious to know too. He must be slowly getting the top hostgator affiliate. I’m exaggerating but if this is a start, what’s it gonne be like in a few months or years? People will keep asking for his free service.

      1. Yes John is getting the best of what can be gained from this. Helping the people who want his help installing WP and earning very nice commissions from Host Gator.

A perfect example of win-win marketing.

    2. d3so says:

With the constant aggresive hostgator promotion, he’s probably raking in big amounts.

      1. Abhik says:

Or he probably want to become the top hostgator affiliate ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. Between D3so and Abhik’s comments above I’d lean towards what D3so says.

Raking in big amounts is very likely more important to John than wanting to be HG top affiliate.

    3. Yeah, the guides John puts out are really simple and easy to follow. THis is great for newbies starting for the first time. You should continue this with guides to making common modifications to your template theme.

    4. Im sure he has already made some bank

He must have made a few grands already

      1. I would bet that John has indeed made more than a few grads from this already.

  12. Awesome video John.

Looks like you are so active these days regarding WP installation stuff! ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Abhik says:

He probably wanna become the top affiliate for Hostgator

      1. If he’s not amongst the top already!

  13. Nice post, I think that this will very helpful for those who are really starting and dont know about all this wordpress installation process .

    1. Nice avatar! I actually thought you were JC, but then I saw the name on this post…nice

      1. I think that the JV avatar shows up by default if the person commenting doesn’t have his or her own.

        1. I meant the JC avatar wich is really John’s.

  14. Videos is a great way to do how-to’s and guides. When I want a good guide I usually go to youtube because if you watch someone do it then you are going to have a 100% success rate is you just do exactly the same as in the video. Also it is so much easier and faster if you don’t have to read.

    //Alexander.

    1. yes, I also go on youtube too whenever I need a tutorial. Video tutorials have a lot of benefits. You can have a live step by step guide to find out how it works.

      1. Abhik says:

That’s correct. Video Tuts are also easy to understand.

      2. I’m more of a visual personal as well. Although I sometimes question the credibility and debate on if I should trust videos from there.

    2. exactly! Seeing it is sooo much better than having to read it…I actually hate reading dense blocks of info without breaks in the text…strains my eyes ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. exactly. It’s not everyone who likes reading. I am also more of a visual person. Reading isn’t my thing.

    3. Yea, i also like watching videos rather then reading

      Its helps a lot

    4. You Tube is definitely the place to go if you want to watch videos on any subject.

John’s videos are on You Tube too usually.

  15. this is nice video John. I think I’ll give this link to all of my clients. I they have a difficulty to install a wordpress. Thanks John

    1. Semmy,

That will be a very nice contribution to John and of mutual benefit to him, your clients and you.

  16. Dino Vedo says:

So how many people actually took you up on the offer?

    1. d3so says:

I wonder if John actually does t himself or hires someone else to.
Maybe it won’t be necessary anymore since he’s made guides.

      1. Abhik says:

Well, this is yet another way to get affiliate sales.. All the links here in this post is affiliate links (except the internal ones).

        1. Do you really expect that opportunity to make money online to be passes up???

    2. Abhik says:

I asked the same question on the last post and yet to get a reply.

      1. its his right to reveal how many sales he has made or not. He probably won’t but anyways, he has work to put into all of this and he is getting paid obviously. I’m also curious on the numbers.

  17. ikki says:

    good video especially for rookies

    1. Just another one line comment ?

      1. That’s an improvement though. Usually he gives one or two word comments.

Somewhere today I saw almost a real comment from Ikki so maybe he will eventually start posting at least half decent comments.

  18. fas says:

This is as good as the guide, awesome stuff, I want to add that its easier to do then the a person feels.

  19. Great steps. I’d love to have something similar to this but for vbulletins…they are the biggest pain in the but for me ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. Oluwabamise says:

Thanks for the video. Please would someone help resolve my site problem? I received an error message while trying to upgrade my wordpress theme at my site : http://www.oursavedmarriage.com, both the site and the admin is showing fatal error messages, kindly help or else my whole site is gone forever. What can I do? Thanks.

  21. Nick says:

This WordPress setup artiicle is great. I think this Video format is a good way of teaching this stuff.

    thanks

    Nick

  22. Lesley says:

  30. The Video is Looking Cool. it is very informative to newbies. I hope, newbies learn about how to install wordpress.

That takes your most time. a never ending story.
