Have you ever done a Google search and not like the results it gave you? For example, if you do a search for John Chow, you would expect JohnChow.com to be the number one result. Well, Google has you covered! If you don’t like the results Google produces, you can tell them on this I’m not satisfied with the search results page.
Google isn’t able to respond directly to comments submitted in the above form but the information will be reviewed by someone on the quality team. How many dissatisfied searchers do you think it will take before Google restores JohnChow.com back at the number one spot?
Some will say I’ll probably just piss off Google by posting this. I doubt it. The dissatisfied link is at the bottom of every Google search results page and it’s there to help them improve their search. So, feel free to let Google know how dissatisfied you are when you don’t get the search results you expected.

Ah hah! The one and only metric I out-perform John Chow on…I’m actually in the #1 position when I search for Zen Zoomie on Google…ok, maybe not quite the same level of difficulty–but it’s something.

That’s a good point - I know I wouldn’t stop using Google for search… it’s just flat out better 99% of the time. I guess what happens depends on whether Google really follows the ‘do no evil’ mantra anymore. If they’re really in it to make the best search engine, then they will fix things. If not, c’est la vie.
Indeed, c’est la vie. There are bigger fish to fry, and besides, search engines shouldn’t be your primary target anyway. They only bring in people who have no idea of your existence. Shouldn’t take the place of other types of advertising.

Again, what is with this sense of entitlement? John broke Google’s rules and he’s paying the price for it. How about being responsible for your own actions once in a while?
If he got rid of the reviews (aka linking scheme) and stopped selling links to any site under the moon, and sent in a reinclusion request saying Sorry, he might just get back in. Of course that would involve checking his ego which I don’t really see happening. At least not publicly.
I think Google sits on a fine line, due to the fact that it is both a for-profit business, as well as one of the web’s most popular (relevant) gateways to information.
Though it is Google’s right, selective exclusion deteriorates search engine relevancy.
You can argue that the #1 result for ‘John Chow’ is relevant, but you and I both know it isn’t how it is supposed to work.
All of the sites are about the very ‘John Chow’ you are seeking information about, so it becomes a very thinly-veiled move.
This whole paid linking thing is such bullshit. It’s not that hard to see that Google only wants one company to be making money from ads…

Its not thumb rule that if you search a name that it should give the result of that person’s website, search using some well known personalities, you will know why this is true. So there is nothing wrong in google doing this to you.

I still think it sucks! If I took the time to build up his kind of traffic and shared out all the knowledge he has done, I’d be pretty pissed if Google or any search engine knocked me out of the running for my own friggin name. JC was top of the list for months now nowhere to be found that’s petty of Google if you ask me. I say screw’em JC & keep up the good work!

Actually, there have been quite a lot of searches that I’ve made recently that were completely irrelevant. Great tip in general (not only to flood them with where-is-John-Chow complaints).
