How To Turn Any Link Into An Email Opt-In Box

My recent post on How To Get Leads From Your 404 Page got a lot of positive feedback. I also got a lot of questions asking how I was able to pop an opt-in box when people click on my eBook link. If you click the link, you’ll see that instead of taking you to my normal eBook landing page, an opt-in box appears instead.

LeadBoxes by LeadPages

The feature that makes this all possible is called LeadBoxes (it was originally called LinkLinks), and it’s made by my friends at LeadPages. With LeadBoxes, you don’t need a whole landing page to build your email list anymore. By adding a single line of code to any existing webpage, you can use LeadBoxes to grow your list from anywhere. Watch the video below to see LeadBoxes in action.

Creating a LeadBox

Setting up a leadBox with LeadPages is even easier than creating a landing page. All you have to do is go to the LeadBoxes section of LeadPages and click on Create New LeadBox. Then it’s just a matter of changing the text, ebook image, colors, and call to action to your liking.

leadboxes

Like LeadPages, LeadBoxes integrates with all major email service providers, like Aweber. You can also integrate LeadMagnet delivery to deliver your eBook once a reader subscribes to your list.

Once your LeadBox is created, you just have to copy and paste the code to your blog (or someone else’s blog if you’re doing a guest post), and your opt-in box will appear whenever a reader clicks on it. Watch the video tutorial below on how to embed your LeadBox.

How To Get LeadBoxes On Your Blog

If you’re a LeadPages customer with a Pro account, you can start using LeadBoxes right now. You can create an unlimited number of LeadBoxes with your Pro account. If you have a standard LeadPages account, you will have to upgrade to the Pro account before you can use it. The higher opt-in rates from the LeadBoxes would justify the upgrade. The Pro account also offers A/B split testing. The makes the upgrade a no brainer for me.

  6. hi jc,
thank you for sharing, very useful indeed, but what do you do if you have a list of leads but not sure what are their interest. how to find out ? any piece of advise for that.. thank you.

    1. John Chow says:

Easiest way would be to do a survey. Offering a prize to a random person who takes the survey will increase the amount of people who’ll take the survey.

      1. thank you for the reply John… been clueless with the list that is not responding to any of the promo email.. will explore that option!

It’s amazing how fast the pop in box appears after I click the link. Nice J. C.!

  8. Hey! Thanks for highlighting notagrouch.com on the video! I’ve been using this feature since it came out and it is terrific. Like you said, you can use it on a regular text link or an image link. I use it throughout my blogposts, on my author box and on the side banner like you showed.
And it works significantly better than a standalone landing page as you mentioned.

Wow! This is an excellent and easiest way to turn links into leads. Moreover, we can turn sidebar links and images too into a lead capture box. Well, John do we require autoresponder code to get this to work and where this leads are captured? Kindly clarify it for me. Thanks John for sharing this useful post.

    1. John Chow says:

The leads are sent to your email list service, so whatever auto responder you have set up with work.

Great shizznit John. I dig it man. What kind of conversion numbers are you seeing w/ LeadBox vs a standard Aweber pop-up?

Thank you John for explaining this. It should solve a lot of concerns for many bloggers who want to allow similar opt in box in their landing page.

Well, I guess its time to sign up with LeadPages to take advantage of LeadBoxes.

  16. Awesome. The window popping up is sure an attention grabber and I feel would add impact that should increase opt in rate.

Will have to look into that.

    Thanks Mr. Chow

Hey John! I was just about to sign up for LeadPages, but the lower cost version when I saw this. Now, I’m reconsidering. The only reason to upgrade for me before reading this was to be in their affiliate program. I actually wanted to use the service for a while before doing that. But after seeing this, I think I’m going to have to get the pro package. Actually being able to use the link on another site, like an author bio on a guest post, is huge! Thanks for the great info!
