How Trey Smith Made $1 Million In 12 Month

What is the most profitable business in the world? Trey Smith knows and he used it to generate $1 million in profits in 12 months. Not bad for a 27-year-old punk who’s been doing Internet marketing for less than two years.

Trey has just released a video detailing how he netted a million in a year. The crazy thing is, he did it in a niche that hardly anyone is marketing in right now. In this video you’ll see what the niche is, what the product is and even the website. You will never believe that site made a million bucks.

The video is a pretty cool “behind the scenes” look of a million dollar business. Well worth watching, if only to see how such an ugly site can make a million dollar!

It would be cool if the video or link actually works….

    1. John Chow says:

The link is working find. What is it doing wrong for you?

      1. Fairooz says:

Yep that link works for me without problems..

They have just got me as a lead cause i watched the video! lol

    2. Pretty sneaky trick to get us to go to the sales page, but it is a good video. I’ve seen that sales page, satellite tv or whatever. A million bucks, unbelievable!

      1. This trick is quite old and almost all bloggers are using this to drive their visitors to the sales page.

        1. Yea, I know, I’ve seen it a million times before.

          1. d3so says:

I actually post videos on my blog. I should split test to see what works better.

    3. Well, The link is working but i would be great you embed the video here only John.

      Just a thought

    4. Matt Powell says:

      John Chow is an asshole!

To completely understand why John Chow is an asshole, look no further than the title of his blog: “I Make Money Online By Telling People How I Make Money Online.” Which means because other people are gullible and stupid enough to read his blog for information on how to make money blogging, he makes money. Pretty f**king redundant if you ask me.

At this point, you’re probably thinking, “So what? The guy makes money off stupid people being stupid. Where’s the problem?” The problem is that the aforementioned stupid people try to emulate his “make money by telling people how to make money” business model and flood the whole f**king internet with shitty “Make money by blogging about making money” blogs.

So as the ringleader and great instigator of this “make money by telling other people how to make money” internet subculture, John Chow, you are an asshole.

      Just my 2 cents. 😛

      1. Kirk Taylor says:

So let me get this straight, you think you’re posting something intelligent because you insult John and his readers?

Obviously you don’t spend much time reading John’s blog, otherwise you would have a clue that he offers quite a bit of educational and valuable content beyond posts like this one….

        1. PPC Ian says:

I agree with you Kirk, what an ignorant comment. John Chow is the man. His blog provides a ton of useful information. Moreover, his blog provides a medium for smart Internet marketers to connect via blog commentating. There is no free lunch and John wouldn’t be where he is if his blog did not provide substantial value. I’m sure John’s happy to see one more hater. As his book, Make Money Online, illustrates: Haters are a direct indicator of one’s success (more haters is a good thing for any blogger).

          1. d3so says:

It’s been awhile since anyone’s left a hate comment here. I’m glad to see John doesn’t remove it but I would also like to see a response.

        2. I just found John’s site recently, and have learned a lot. I especially appreciate that he thinks out of the box.

      2. Fairooz says:

Hey Matt, Grow up buddy! Are jealous that he’s making money from blogging? 😛

        1. Matt is exactly what he calls John. Insulting John and everybody else is not going to get Matt what he so desperately wants which is what John has.

          1. d3so says:

Or maybe he’s trying to draw attention so he can receive traffic 😉

      3. Papa says:

        Hi,
It is no doubt that you are entiled to your own opinion.
To start, For john to make a statement that he makes money by telling people how to make money does not implies your opinion as stated. NO.
First, For every information, you remain an independent individual, reasonable enough to make decision like know what is good for you and what you want as any certain period of time. I mean we make use of of senses.
To be specific in this case, its an offer. You decide.

Secondly, the is the first part of the video, it would have cool as I thought that it is not just the prodcut as stated in the video by trey, that it is the marketing. Why dont you wait and see.
True, things look like the same old game but it is wrong to launch a personal attack and bring the whole reputation of another simply because of partial information.
I am no way known to John or any how but I do strongly believe the post of yours is every way inappropritate,

      4. Freking hilarious comment. So you’re saying that if for example someone said “I get laid telling people how to get laid” he’s an idiot? 😛

Also, it sounds like you’re just jealous.

        //Alexander.

  2. Kirk Taylor says:

It’s not loading for me either. Goes to this page http://jclink.me/treyvideo-blog and then has some bookmarking links at the bottom but the rest of the screen is white.

    1. Weird, it’s working for me fine.

      1. PPC Ian says:

Yeah, it works just fine for me too. You need to enter your email address to be able to watch the video. I feel like that’s a fair exchange, and hoping to watch the video later tonight.

        1. To get such kind of video, many people have another email address which they used for these purpose.

So go and build one for this.

          1. But yes the bloggers provide you great content and knowledge than you should use your main email address so that you should not miss any great resource and grab them as soon as they published.

          2. Fairooz says:

Yes, exactly! i have a separate email address for submitting for this purpose.
I think that inbox is almost full 😀

          3. PPC Ian says:

I agree ZK. Sometimes a different email address for these types of thing makes a lot of sense. However, for well known lists such as John Chow, I’ll use my main email. Email forwarders are also a great option.

          4. Yea, you want to be careful giving your real email out, otherwise you get spam city.

        2. Kirk Taylor says:

It was coming up as a blank page, now it’s working.

          1. @ Ian

Yes Ian for those websites which provide us food for thought than we should and we must use our real email address.

Because in this business even if you are delayed with one hour for important information than you are out of business.

  3. the link it’s work fine for me. thanks John for the video

  4. PPC Ian says:

$1 million profit in just 12 months with only 2 years of affiliate marketing experience is simply amazing. It’s almost hard to believe! Looking forward to learning how Trey did it!

    1. d3so says:

Definitely amazing I’ve been in and out of this industry for more than two years now. I believe this year is my time to crush it.

    2. It is really very hard to manage for $1 Million Profit.

  5. Hey John.

For someone who has made $1,000,000, he’s making a BIG MISTAKE by not putting the video on the squeeze page.

I know absolutely nothing about this guy, (other than what I read here), so why should I enter my email just to see how he supposedly made $1,000,000.

    Make sense?

He should have the video on the squeeze, and if the video sparks people’s interest, they will then enter their email.

It’s just way too easy to say you made X amount of money.

    Just my two cents.

    1. John Chow says:

That’s not a mistake. Many big marketers do it that way. John Reese has done that on a few of his landing page and so has Frank Kerns. Trey split tests all his landing pages and it looks like the one he is showing right now is the one working.

      1. That really surprises me. I know it probably works differently for different things, but from what it sounds like, we should be making people enter their email to see the initial video that would normally be provided on the squeeze page?

I ask because my friend just created a squeeze page for his book: http://www.musclemonsters.com/massinaflash/

Seems like he did a good job to me.

But it sounds like the guy who made the $1,000,000 is offering ‘more’ in his video than my friend, who simply explains what his book is about.

Interesting strategy though. I will definitely keep it in mind when I get into product creation.

      2. PS: I am just surprised because it’s such a basic page.

“I made $1,000,00 and you can too. Enter your email.”

        That’s all it really is….

That’s like if I made a page about acne that said, “I got rid of my acne and you can to. Enter your email.”

Is that all it takes to get people’s emails?

        1. Would love to know the reply from Trey himself.

Though this is the common practice and everyone is using it.

Someone build email list by giving free ebook and someone like this.

          1. But however you are not going to loose anything.

            Unsubsribe button is always there.

            Just my 2 cents.

      3. I did not see any big marketers earning Million per Year. Perhaps after this Post, i saw how he made $1 Million.

  6. This post given me a boost to get real online income which is unforgettable for me in my life. I hope all the newbies enjoyed to read your posts.

  7. Gyanguru says:

Articles like these gives a nice morale boosting….

  8. $1 million in just 12 months. Well I am a newbie internet marketer. I don’t know whether I can achieve those heights but I am sure this is certainly a boost for me.

  9. There is no doubt that disclosing earning amount is still working.

People simply can’t stop themselves to see the secrets.

    1. PPC Ian says:

That’s for sure! It gets me every time. 🙂

  10. Paul B says:

OK, it wasn’t just SOFTWARE that made him over 1 million in profit, it was a certain type of software, namely TV streaming software. This has been a really profitable market for the past 6-7 years but the legality issue is getting bigger by the month/week/day (As recently as yesterday, http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=420566)

That’s why it’s better to move on to start selling some “make money system” rather than actually try and make any more money yourself from software. In other words “I got lucky once, here’s how I did it – sign up for my monthly course”.

    Or maybe I’m wrong?

  11. Fairooz says:

    Nice video 🙂

But entering email in order to watch the video! some people may dislike it!

    1. That’s the way building a list works, give something away for free and get an email address in the process.

      1. Yeh, you just gotta make it worth it for the visitor. Give them a quick preview and a hint of what they can expect on the other side and you will get many sign ups. The hard thing is to get the traffic in the firt place nowadays.

  12. Alex Neill says:

Wow great video, would be great to make that much money online and I am determined that one day I will have a video like that!

Do love the way you use an image for the link, I am stealing that off ya John!

    Alex 😀

  13. Well i dont believe it.

I dont know anything about this guy. This is the first time i have heard about this guy.

And i dont want to give my email to give to start sending me IM products which are useless. 😉

  14. I’ve seen a lot of stuff from Trey Smith. Mostly from his cousin Frank Kern. What is the software he had created? Or do I need to watch the video??

    1. It’s TV streaming software.

    2. Paul B says:

Frank Kern…enough said. Avoid it like the plague.

      1. Hahaha….. Nice comment bro

  15. Aaron says:

$1M in one year? That sounds like wining the lottery to me. Especially with just 2 years experience. Oh well, I’ll keep slowly working on my niche for now.

    1. ikki says:

      lottery, you said perfectly

  16. Neon SRT4 says:

I really agree with the post, i wish i could be another trey smith. But really till now, i am not able to believe anything.

    1. You should always believe that you got what it takes, because no one else will believe in it for you! 😛

      //Alexander.

  17. Bujle says:

Getting tired of reading stories about people who actually DIDN’T achieve what they’re so proud about and are showing.

Just another ref link on a post… Great work ¬¬

    1. ikki says:

      nice work, im agree

  18. I think the moral of this lesson is that money is made in the marketing of ideas, i.e. this catchy title that is quantitative and sensational gets people clicking away to watch the video.

Nothing gets done until somebody makes a sale.

  19. ikki says:

one million dollars in a month, good

  20. fas says:

John Reese is famous, trey smith is not!

    1. John Chow says:

Trey Smith is Frank Kern’s cousin.

      1. Hey John,

Thanks for explaining who Trey is. Most people including me never herd of the guy so from now on we’ll know where to place him.

  21. Frank Curn’s cousin?

    That explains almost everytihng 🙂

  22. I guess he has made much more in Feb, once John posted about him on his blog

  23. Hey John! This guy is amazing. Thanks for this video!

  24. Papa says:

It is no doubt, the guy is using this to capture lead. Whatever you guys think,
I can tell you its working for him. Go and check out the big guns like promoting this.

    1. What do you think? Its obvious. It’s not a bad thing to promote a new product of a pal here and there though, anybody does it. It’s called a Joint Venture.

  25. I’m gonna take a closer look into this. So far it feels like it’s about phones since that’s pretty much the “new thing” around internet. But I might be wrong, who knows. Anyways thanks for sharing!

    Have a great day!
    //Alexander.

  26. Tim says:

I believe it has gotten to that point where asking for an email for a free product and being joyful for having thousands of new ‘subscribers’ may be useless now, as most people just put in a fake or spam filled email. That they never read. Where is the value in that?

I actually just wrote a post about this entirely:
    http://timhickman.com/mailinator-com-countering-spam-but-affecting-marketers/

feel free to discuss and give your thoughts. Don’t forget to leave your website so I can discuss on your blog too, if you have one. Thanks.

  27. There is nothing such a ‘unique technique’ anymore. Everyone knows the ‘hidden techniques’. Anyways, nice interview and video. It’s not a coincidence I see a lot of interviews being done on authority blogs.

  28. More power to ya brother……………………who wouldn’t want that kind of success?

  29. anitha says:

Great success would like to more about your success
