Hunting Pandas At The Shanghai Zoo

written by John Chow on May 15th, 2008

Today, we headed to the Shanghai Zoo to look for any pandas that may have survived the great rock fight of China. The Shanghai Zoo is an order of magnitude times bigger than the zoo back home at Stanley Park. The zoo is so big that they have cars to drive people from one exhibit to the next.

The Shanghai Zoo is home to hundreds of animals. Pretty much every animal you can think of is here. However, there was only one animal I was interested in. After all, we have unfinished business.

  1. What a great adventure:)

  2. that seems pretty awesome! It must be a great experience to see Panda’s in Shanghai. Different then America of course, since Panda’s are brought here from there.

  3. If only our zoo was that cool (yea someone stole a monkey and another one got killed..) though I heard rumours they are getting rid of the animals that do not belong in a north america climate (ie rhino, giraffe, lions, tigers etc)

  4. I am glad that you didn’t find the remaining Panda’s… we atleast know that they are safe (for now!). I think the Shanghai Zoo received an anonymous call asking them to hide the panda’s from you.

And just so you know… wait till the 6th of June…

Then Kung Fu Panda is gonna show you what it feels like to mess with endangered species.

  5. Nice………….

  6. Panda…..did you see small panda? They are cute. But when they grow bigger , they become dangerous. So…..can see cannot touch.

  7. What a great place to visit. I love nature. When I went to Brazil in the beginning of this year I took so many pictures from the nature. Maybe Brazil should be the next place you visit.

  8. The SH zoo looks pretty nice.

  9. whose hand was that taking the video? Very shakey!

  10. Hi, John! You should go to Chengdu Panda Breeding & Research Center.

  11. I think they’re just hiding the Pandas from you. I think they know who you are and they knew about this trip.

  12. Since when is there a zoo in Stanley Park? I though the main “Vancouver” Zoo was in Abbotsford or Langley… But I’m pretty sure the Shanghai zoo is still bigger. :P

  13. I was in that ZOO last year, when Special Olympics took place.
    Nice ZOO thought! ;)

    btw, nice video.

  14. I’ve heard about how big the Shanghai zoo is. I sure would like to see it.

  15. Hey! Who killed all the Pandas?

  16. Very nice video John! Looks like you enjoy in Shanghai

  17. Who would have known – monkeys are good at catching things

  18. I thought the comment about what the turtles were eating was appropriate.

  19. John, thanks for sharing your trip adventures with us!

  20. Nice video update of your trip! Looks like you had a great time in SH!

  21. Joe

What happened to the elephant’s tusks?

  22. I think if John and the Pandas were to get in a fight, the pandas would most definitely win. They have a bit more of a reputation for killing things lol.

  23. Haha this brings back memories, can’t wait to go to China again. Have you been to any other cities?

  24. Great video and funny ending. You are bringing your evil to all corners of the world

There didn’t seem to be too many people there. That’s my kind of zoo!
    ~Terry

  25. Fugu fish…something I want to taste before I’m gone :) I did a post on it too!

BTW John, when are you going to give up on those Pandas…? And that Geeraffe does have a long neck :P

    -Mike

  26. You really enjoy your china trip. Will stay until August? So that you can watch the Beijing Olympic opening ceremony.

  27. Nice video. Great job with the video editing and the music at the end. That’s a surprise no Panda!

  28. Why didn’t you hunt those sharks John ?

  29. Nice place and great video ! And how about the sign ? Did you care about it John or do you feed the monkeys
