We’re in Seattle today for the start of the World Cyber Games. Despite what it sounds like, the world cyber games is not a cyber sex competition. The event is the largest computer and video game festival in the world. Seattle has been choosen the host city for the world final.

Gamers from all over the world are flying in to QWest Field in downtown Seattle for four days of intense gaming to decide who is the best of the best. More than 1.5 million competitors around the world battled for a spot on their respective national teams. The pool has been narrowed to the elite 700 gamers representing a record 74 countries. These gamers will compete for gold medals, national glory, a share of $500,000 in cash and prizes, and the title of the “world’s best” in 12 different gaming titles.

I wish I had known about this, I would have gone out there myself. I’ve never been that great at video games, but I imagine this is like the video game olympics.

    DUDE COOL!

WCG is the highest event in eSports, top Korean StarCraft gamers earn hundreds of thousands of USD. Koreans have dominated StarCraft at the WCG ever since it started, now US and European gamers are trying to take away that crown once again.

I was actually about to blog about this, I’ll check back, take some pics!!!
