Internet Pornography – Really Make Money Online

written by John Chow on May 12, 2007

Get Traffic To Your Site!

This almost not safe for work video from Good Magazine explains what we have known all along – Internet pornography makes a lot of money online. The stats are quite staggering. Here are just a few.

  • 89% of porn is created in the U.S.
  • $2.84 billion in revenue was generated from U.S. porn sites in 2006
  • $89 per second is spent on porn
  • 72% of porn viewers are men
  • 260 new porn sites go online everyday

Usually the porn industry innovates first and key features make their way to more mainstream sites. But over the last couple of years, many of the new ideas around web applications, like user generated content, video sharing, etc., went mainstream first and are now hitting the porn sites.

No, I am not planning to make a porn site. Enjoy the video. Remember, it’s almost not safe for work! I thought the foot notes were very creative.

The perfect place to link your site

nice way of presenting it ...hehe

u know wat john

ur making me to consider starting up a porn site

the stats are really awesome

You know, I've actually considered running a porn site...don't give me more reasons to go for it. ;)

Do you think Adsense would close the eyes?

Even outside the Internet, porn has been a thriving industry I'd say. What, with all the magazines and videos being sold each day...people who have these materials go online because it's the most accessible venue for porn right now. Porn capitalists acknowledge that and I guess they're just trying to supply the huge demand.

Well, it's true what the people at Avenue Q said: The Internet is for Porn!

Also, after briefly taking a look at her site, it seems like the above vid is a bit of a marketing tool for her. Rather sneaky and evil, methinks.

now how many did visit the models site?
haha come on don't be shy and admit :P

I also believe internet porn is an industry that's never taken a downfall in yearly earnings as a whole. It keeps getting bigger and bigger.

You know...you CAN start a porn site for free from MY site
Just go to my site and click on the webmasters link at the bottom to get your free store

it's true, well, you know, it can be boring at work. spice it up with some naughty stuff can be fun, just don't get caught

Just look at how many people use "Adult Entertainment" for their avatar!

ha ha ha Thats ... great ... did you see that most adult traffic is during the work day beteween 9 - 5 ... thats crazy !!!

ha ha ha ... GET BACK TO WORK !!!!

LOL

Darin

You mean people should do something different between 9 to 5?

I posted a couple of adult theme articles at Xomba.com -nothing hardcore- thinngs like Mistakes men make when making love, the best postionn for making love. That was was months ago and they are still generating several hits a day.

Also, I think they prefer the more PC term "adult entertainment". ;)

Great video, very original Idea.
I think you will give this girl a huge traffic boost with your post.

I will check alexa ranking tomorrow for her website to see the change

Maybe I should become a porn-again blogger.

I know someone which owns a local sex-meeting site and he's making 500$ a day by doing nothing else then approving the new entrys

There are many other ways(good ways) to make money.

Kinky Love? Should be Linky Love

Oh yes, sex sells, and if you don't believe John, then come and have a look at me! See you in your next sexy post John...

Foot notes...lol
Very creative indeed.

After many years of a tumultuous internal struggle, I had finally consoled myself that my dreams of being a bohemian high-art pornography mogul and going to work in a shiny monogrammed bath robe were simply not to be. I had moved on.

And now you put up this post, give me false hope, and dangle this carrot(no phallic symbol intended) in front of me!

Why John?! Why?!!
Why would you be so cruel?

I think funny video websites make a comparable profit to porn sites

Sarah, Damnnn.com

I'm not into it..but the vid is refreshing

Just something i want to amend here.

"Countries that ban pornography: ... ... ... ... MalayasiaMalaysia ... ... "

Thanks.

Hmm...porn statistics using video media, I ever see a big hosting or domain registrar company use similar way to show how important domain is.

only 12% of websites are porn? Wow...I expected that number to be way higher...

Where do 260 new websites (daily) get their content?

A lot of it is shared. How do I know? I know people in the biz! I've also been approached to do websites for the industry using content that's already out there, just to put a new twist on it.

Content that's is already out there, well I mean that one guy who owns a site will use the same media on another site that he owns, just gives it a different look.

Why didn't I do it... I have my reasons :P

There are plenty of affiliate programs out there for porn websites. They offer some free content for their publishers to use. If you want free porn maybe you should become an affiliate for a porn website. hehe...

Even though I stopped publishing for porno sites I still get e-mails with all kinds of free porn. Hehe... not like it's of any use to me...

How to make money using porn content? Next article from John Chow. Waiting for it.

john, i can not see any of the videos that you posted, what's wrong?

Has anyone else experienced the same problem?

Upgrade to the latest FireFox.

Hopefully his next reply won't be, "What's Firefox?"

...I would cry...

My site is broken right now btw... just thought you all would like to know...

I have the latest and still could not see it :(

yeah, i see the problem now.

i'm still stuck in firefox 1.5 because i want to use some of the extensions that don't work in higher versions.

well, i checked the page source code and find the url of the video.

nice one.

amazing stats and a sexy sexy lady.

she's got nice bottoms...

is it just me?

I loved that Google search bar on the woman's side LOL with the search field and everything. Unbelievable statistics about Internet porn; I knew there were a lot, but those numbers are just overwhelming.

@ Tyler Ingram - I agree. Definitely Google food. Damn it John, you are so evil.

And yes... there is so much money in porn. I tried entering into the porn business but I found it very difficult. You need to be EXTREMELY competitive, work VERY hard, and then you have to live with knowing you are doing something "immoral." I gave up on porn. The way those guys operate is so weird... it's a whole nother story working in the porn business. I guess it's good that I got out of it when I did cuz my g/f absolutely HATES porn.

"I gave up porn" -- that would look good on a T-shirt. There's a new business venture for you (your girlfriend might even appreciate it).

it's a tell tell sign that you have not give up porn.

or in someone's eye, you were a perv at least...

You mean tell-tale sign -- nah, I just think it could be one of those funny T-shirt slogans. "I'm with stupid," "Sexy," "Goat Milk?" -- you know, one of those. They're not necessarily true, but they still serve their purpose which is humor/sarcasm.

sorry, tell tale

got ya, that's exactly what i don't have.

a good sense of humor

cool idea

Yes, he is really evil, But anyway people looking for porn may arrive to this site, once they see, it is not a porn site, they will leave it immediately, dont you think?

yeah but there might be some SEO/wanting-to-make-money-from-blogging looking for porn and arriving here.

Not a lot but still some so I wouldn't say it's a total loss.

Or maybe a wanting-to-make-money-from-blogging-about-porn person may have arrived here. There are a lot of porn blogs out there ya know. =]
