Invasion of The Blog Blazers

The mailman dropped off a huge and heavy box today. I love receiving gifts and wasted no time ripping the box open to find out what was inside. Turned out to be a book but it wasn’t just one book, it was 50 books. I had no idea that 50 books could weigh so much!

The package was sent by Stephane Grenier and the title of the book was Blog Blazers. Blog Blazers feature interviews from 40 top bloggers. I’m looking forward to reading all the interviews and finding out how these blogger became top bloggers.

As you no doubt guessed, Stephane didn’t send me 50 copies for Blog Blazers to line my library. I will be giving them away starting this Saturday at Dot Com Pho. All attendees will be receiving a copy of Blog Blazers. Follow me on Twitter to find the time and location. The book retails for $16.95US, which is more than a bowl of Pho, so you’ll be making money if you show up!

For those who can’t make Dot Com Pho, reply to this post and you’ll be entered to win a copy of the book. You only need to reply once. Replying multiple times won’t get you any more entries in the draw box. We’ll draw the winner live on Saturday at Dot Com Pho. Good luck!

  6. Jeff Gammons says:

Wow thats a lot of books!

  7. Moulinneuf says:

Are you gonna do an interview with Stephane Grenier ? Asking him why he think sending you 50 books worth around 15$ each ( total around 750$ ) each is more valuable then paying 500$ for a paid review ?

    1. John Chow says:

I hadn’t planned on an interview with Stephane. He sent me those books with no conditions. Well, the only condition was I give them to other bloggers.

      1. As the author of the book I’ll confirm John statement’s, I sent those books to him with no real conditions other than he give them to bloggers that can benefit from it. Not everything has to be conditional. If you read the interviews in the book, you’ll see that giving of yourself is sometimes a path to success.

        1. Moulinneuf says:

I was just thinking it would have been fun to have the book interviewer , you , interviewed by John , kinda going full circle , It’s such a nice gift and overall big prize I was interested to know more into why you decided to do it and also get John Chow to ask you on film why you did not interview him 😉 ( witch by reading the comment I got the answer to that 😉 )

  8. Sounds like it would definitely be an interesting read. I wouldn’t mind a copy =]

btw–hmmm–how come amit agarwal (top blogger from India),johnchow, darren (problogger), didn’t get included…

I m not sure how he picked these bloggers?

    1. John Chow says:

Not sure about the other two but I didn’t make the book because I didn’t send back my interview questions in time. LOL

      1. SEO Tips says:

        Haha John 😛

        Even the Pro’s make mistakes

      2. The thing to remember is that not everyone available all the time. Some people just happened to be very busy when I performed the interviews. For example, Darren was in the midst of releasing his own book, so he didn’t exactly have a lot of extra time on his hands.

That being said, I also tried to vary who was included in the book. I didn’t want just meta-bloggers (bloggers that blog about blogging). I wanted to include different niches. I also wanted to include people who made money from their blogs in different ways, who used different marketing strategies, techniques. I even tried to give different perspectives on what it takes to be successful, how to write, etc. Basically I tried to give you different viewpoints on how to succeed.

I’m considering doing a follow-up book (Blog Blazers 2), depending on how well this one goes. I’ll probably decide sometime this summer whether or not to go ahead. Publishing a book isn’t a small task, I spent well over 2000 hours getting the book to market (not counting the time for the editors, etc.). Not exactly a small task. And this doesn’t include the financial costs. So it’s not a small project by any means…

Also, it is easy to see that you are a wonderful parent, by including her in the process, and validating her presence. The same qualities that lend themselves to mastering other principles lend themselves to providing a quality family experience.
