Is Tesla Autopilot In The Model X Safe To Use?

My Tesla Model X P90D has many cool features that are unique and not found in other cars. One of those features is the ability to drive itself.

Tesla Autopilot uses a unique combination of cameras, radar, ultrasonic sensors and data to automatically steer down the highway, change lanes, and adjust speed in response to traffic.

Drivers and passengers generally freak out the first time they see it in action, and I have received many questions asking how safe the system is. Tesla claims autopilot is twice as safe as a human driver, and they have over 75 million miles of accident free autopilot use to prove it. See the system in action in the video below.

I can’t wait until self-driving cars are here. I do love to pilot cars myself, but I’d rather lay back and let it do the hard work on freeways.

It’s safer than regular cars but alas, today it had it’s first ever road fatality. What a tragedy.
