It’s a Lamborghini Reventon

written by John Chow on December 10th, 2007

lamborghinireventon021.jpg

A few readers have noticed the new car running in my header and wonder what it was. Even before this blog got redesigned by Nate Whitehilll, I have been using a Pagani Zonda F for the header image. The new car is the 2008 Lamborghini Reventon. Congrats to Steven Truong and Affiliate Unleashed for getting it right. For those who thought it was a Ferrari or Bugatti, shame on you.

The Lamborghini Reventon is the wildest Lamborghini ever produced. Only 20 examples will be made and all have been spoken for. The price, if you have to know, is 1 Million Euro (plus taxes). That works out to $1.4 million CAD and probably $1 Billion US with the US exchange rate going into the toilet. The above photo was taken at the Lamborghini museum. Here are some more photos and a couple of videos.

I thought the logo looked like a lambo, but the front end design threw me. I was all over the place.

What would it cost, like $8,000 a month for your car payment on this Lambo? Pretty steep for a ride.

Reply to this comment
John Chow said on December 11th, 2007 at 9:59 am

Lamborghini does not accepting financing. Cash only.

$8,000 a month might pay for the insurance.

Yea, I revised that amount. So, only about 48 more months in a row like the last one and you can get one.

One of my favourite hobbies is off road holidays so a SUV or a 4WD would be good.

Damn! I just started my blog using the Bugatti Veyron, which is supposed to be the most powerful, most expensive, fastest street-legal production car in existence. I wonder if this Lambo puts the Bugatti in second place.

I don’t think so. The Bugatti Veyron has 1000 hp and tops out at 253 mph. It also costs $1.7 million US.

Per Autoweek.com, there is little much for the extra $1 mil in the car over the LP640:

“Ordinarily, for example, people who are perceptive and disciplined enough to build massive fortunes would not pay $1.4 million for something intrinsically worth a little more than $311,000–the cheaper option being a Lamborghini Murciélago LP640.

Not far beneath the Reventón’s carbon-fiber and aluminum skin lurks little more than an LP640, which was amply evident when we drove the Reventón. Lamborghini freely admits that this is a sculpture moving on tried and trusted engineering.”

Horsepower is only up 10hp over the LP640.

I write this in case Bill Gates, Larry, or Sergey are reading this and were about to make a purchase since the rest of us can only drool.

Disturbing news… I work down the block form a Lamborghini / Bentley dealer (Paul Miller), and they always have a few million dollars in inventory sitting outside. dunno, it probably costs a s**tload of money. Taking this into account, I’d be REALLY (read it: way too) careful when driving this car on the street. I don’t actually know how it is in America, but this car is NOT suitable for Romania. Why? Several reasons: first, most of the roads here suck, and the tyres would be destroyed in no time. Secondly, there are lots of drivers that go like crazy, with high speed, in town, on narrow streets - therefore, the risk of getting your car trashed is huge :). And trashing this precious would break anyone’s heart. Oh and third: such a car would attract the attention of thieves, which are plenty in Romania. (oh well, yes, not a very good advertisement for my country, but heck it’s true)
