It’s Going To Be A Long Rush Hour

written by John Chow on November 29th, 2006

We just got back from lunch and judging by the traffic I can tell it’s going to be a long rush hour when people get off work. We got more snow this morning and it’s till coming down. The main roads in Richmond are like a skating rink. Richmond doesn’t salt their roads as well as Vancouver does. I guess the reason for this is Richmond is as flat as a pancake and the chances of siding down a hill are non-existent. However, the city never accounted for the average Richmond driver - they can’t drive in rain much less snow! It’s times like these that I am glad I work from home and don’t have to contend with rush hour traffic.

I also received a call from my Chinese teacher today. Because of the snow, she has decided to cancel tonight’s class. That’s good because I didn’t want to drive to school in the snow. My car is pretty much useless in the snow. I can’t even get out of my driveway because the snow is higher than the car’s ground clearance. Lowering the car seemed like such a good idea at the time. Sarah’s car is much better in the snow. However, it comes with an undefeatable traction control system so doing donuts is out of the question. I guess that’s a good thing.

When I got home, I noticed that Text Link Ads has sold three more links for me! These guys are on a roll. I wonder how long it will take them to sell all eight spots? Thanks to a Victor at City Guide for pointing me to the ExecPHP plugins. This plugin allows you to run PHP codes inside the Wordpress Sidebar Widget. I used the new plugin to run the Text Link Ads code inside my sidebar. The links were under the 468 Google ad before. It looks much better now,

Anyway, here’s some pictures of my lunch. I ordered the house special stew pork at Pearl Castle at the Continental Plaza. This place serves one of the best pork dishes I ever had. Cheap too. Lunch only cost $8 per person.

With all this snow are you feeling more in the Holiday Spirit?

Hmmm… no snow here in Ontario, Canada. Funny!

John’s right…Pearl Castle has some very good, reasonably priced food. All the drinks, however, are ultra small and about double what you’d pay anywhere else.

I am in much the same situation as you. I, too, work from home and I, too, have a lowered car that is pretty much useless in this weather (haven’t moved it since Saturday). The wonders of freelance writing.
