can i get it for free…
hehehehehe…
seems it would be another one of the blockbusters…
what say???

investorblogger April 16, 2008 at 9:26 am

Well, I bought the first book… it suggested some great ideas, but FRANKLY, I’ve made much more money from NOT using Adsense! John’s highlighted already why Adsense sucks for blogs…

investorblogger April 16, 2008 at 9:29 am

Just check out John’s own recent earnings report for March 2008.

John Chow April 16, 2008 at 10:25 am

Google AdSense is still one of my recommended money maker. While I no longer run it on this blog, I run it on every other site I own. It’s still a good money maker. You just have to know how to set it up correct. That’s what Joel’s book is for and it’s why I recommend it.

investorblogger April 16, 2008 at 10:44 am

Ok! Thanks, John. It might work well on static sites… and sites that are large sites with lots of … but I got so many problems using Adsense that I dropped it, too… So how come you aren’t pushing your monetization techniques on those other sites, too? Surely, they’d do better than Adsense…

Come on, John. I think there’s a good chance to explain your ambivalence towards Adsense.

Robert April 16, 2008 at 2:33 pm

Is it maybe because Google disses johnchow.com in favor of johncow.com?

Googlelady April 17, 2008 at 1:41 am

Is obvious that a blog like this one who has the top source of income with direct advertising it is not worth adding adsense.

Syed Balkhi April 17, 2008 at 5:53 am

Yeah google adsense can make money if placed on right locations.

DeboHobo April 16, 2008 at 9:38 am

I agree, John said Adsense sucks so why is he pushing this book on us? That’s a pretty big price differnece as well.

Obviously this is a paid advertisment. Sorry and no thanks :(

The Coolest Gifts April 16, 2008 at 10:16 am

It’s not a paid ad, it’s an affiliate link.

And John has been saying how much better affiliate income is than AdSense income, so there’s actually a hidden lesson here

Hustle Strategy April 16, 2008 at 7:51 pm

ever heard of ttz or the tech zone, adsense is pretty well represented…

Sha April 17, 2008 at 4:07 am

He never said it sucks. And if you read above, you’ll see that he even admitted to having it on his other sites.

Chris Jacobson April 16, 2008 at 11:05 am

I just bought a copy for that great price. I also bought the first edition back in the day.

Dr. Teeth April 17, 2008 at 4:01 pm

lol, good question!
if john ever decides to give it away free, then plz plz count me after you.

MR. NICE GUY April 17, 2008 at 4:31 pm

Joel Comm has good banners but Im still earning nothing hahaha…not very effective for me

Steve April 16, 2008 at 9:18 am

The secret with Adsense is that no one clicks on the ads therefore there’s no money to be made. You quickly learn this when you start running ads through Adwords. You get 0% click-through on content sites while getting 2% click-through on search.

Not John Chow April 16, 2008 at 9:56 am

Exactly, if a blogger with a rss subcriber audience the size of John’s doesn’t rely on Adsense, why should anyone else?

Affiliate Confession April 16, 2008 at 2:41 pm

Good money can still be made with Adsense. Come on, I make around $1,300 per month with it, but I’m don’t use it on my blog because I just doesn’t look right. But I do use it on many other sites. Why give up free money?

Syed Balkhi April 17, 2008 at 5:57 am

OO there is money to be made with adsense. Just embed it into your content sites and for some keywords you get really high click rate. I am not sharing any of those :p

car345.com April 16, 2008 at 10:05 am

If you have decent traffic say above 1000 unique visitors a day, Private ads are way to go. If the traffic is below that mark, I think Adsense is better. Atleast you get some money from to pay towards your hosting expenses.

Another way to test, try selling a banner thru project wonderful or similar sites. Keep the one gets more money to you.. I think John mentioned with numbers for this sort of test when he replaced adsense.

Chris Mabe April 16, 2008 at 10:15 am

John, very poor post. Dissapointed in the mixed messages you are sending. You have just lost a rss subscriber.

Motorycle Man April 16, 2008 at 12:25 pm

Do you think he actually gives a damn?

Affiliate Confession April 16, 2008 at 2:44 pm

Dude, it’s a book that tells you how to earn more from Adsense, what’s wrong with that? John’s just telling us about it and that he bought one. Why not spend $9.95 to learn from Joel the Adsense Master?

Sha April 17, 2008 at 4:11 am

It always cracks me up how some people say this, but they never have the balls to leave their name and/or site address.

King Myron April 16, 2008 at 10:26 am

I think the biggest point here is that you should keep your income streams coming from different streams. On content based sites where you are targeting an audience that is not familiar with all of the SEO practices and Good Adsense, I think that it is very benefical. I personally bought the book just now. For $10 Bucks it is worth it IF I can improve my Adsense on my content websites.

John Chow April 16, 2008 at 10:33 am

Look at it this way. If using the information in the book can increase your AdSense income by more than $10, you’re in the money. :)

This got me thinking... April 16, 2008 at 12:28 pm

Exactly! This is why when I see spare change on the ground I pick it up. It is that much more in my pocket than I had before. For some people slow and steady will get them where they want to be and this could be a good starting point for them.

DeboHobo April 17, 2008 at 8:32 am

Okay, put that way I’m on board.

Affiliate Confession April 16, 2008 at 3:53 pm

If you are worried about spending $10 for an ebook that shows you how to earn more from Adsense, especially when it’s from Joel Comm, you probably aren’t in the right line of work.

King Myron April 17, 2008 at 9:42 am

Well I purchased and I am very disapointed. The content is out dated and the case study sites that they provide don’t even have adsense on them. Some of the have become godaddy parked pages. Very poor. The whole point was to tell you into a $497 course about adsense. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Steve April 16, 2008 at 10:26 am

I agree that John is making a point here about Aff Income vs. Adsense… but why push this product? Joel Comm’s ideas never worked. Reiterating Google’s Learning Center is NOT writing a book!

I thought he’d crawl under a rock after that mess of an internet marketing show he did.

Making Money on the Internet April 16, 2008 at 10:30 am

lol, i make 600$mo. with adsense. There are no affilate programs to promote in my niche, and my audience is cheap within the niche. No one wants to pay for private adversiting of my sites. I just get 2000 – 3000 visits a day. I use Adsense + Abrite + NeverblueAds together to generate over $700 a mo. for 1 website. [site will not be shown to protect my niche] :)

The Adsense Sercets book is GREAT for newbies!

Dave from Welcome Back Rosenthal April 16, 2008 at 10:59 am

I have mixed feelings on this issue. First; not sure what a new version of this book is going to impart in the way of “secrets.” It’s pretty much out there; get some Adsense and hope you make some money. BUT, Joel’s information was good for me-however I just watched all 9 YouTube videos he posted. So cutting his price on this book by 90 percent was definitely a smart move. It’s next to free now, so if you didn’t get it the first go around, this makes it seem much more attractive. I can appreciate that.

I had a REAL problem getting Adsense to work, as I’ve mentioned and linked to before over here, but I also believe it’s a great training ground, a kind of “if you can make it there you can make it anywhere.” The stuff I’ve done to make my TOTAL February income my DAILY average 6 weeks later is valuable knowledge. I can apply that knowledge across the board to any site or any revenue stream like affiliate work that I’m now branching out into.

So Adsense can work if YOU work it. Will it be your biggest money money maker? Maybe not, but it’s money you don’t need to leave on the table. And I think it can be integrated well and not have to be garish or loud.

Hey I found this video by a French guy on how to get a free meal at Mcdonalds. Check it out

http://www.5min.com/Video/How-to-get-a-free-meal-at-McDonalds-4186

Wade April 16, 2008 at 12:55 pm

I will definately buy it! I would do it right now, but my daughter is laying on me, its nap time for her. Do you get a commission by affiliate link John? I didn’t look. If so, I will use your affiliate link for 200 hits :) sounds like a fair trade. Just got off work, so checking out my favorite sites.

+ a $500 review fee?

Dr. Teeth April 17, 2008 at 3:59 pm

Of course, he’s such a famed guy and above all $500 is nothing compared to the value of his review.
Give it a try and see your traffic zooming in no time!

Ashley April 16, 2008 at 1:03 pm

It’s not so much the money I’m worried about, it’s the precious time I would have to spend reading a 200+ page book that is filled with a lot of stuff I already know.

So give us one “advanced” tip to peak our interest. Please.

Dr. Teeth April 16, 2008 at 2:10 pm

Joel Comm always rocks with his ideas and techniques.
I really look forward to this latest release

Mubin April 16, 2008 at 2:20 pm

The Price is RIght!

Robert April 16, 2008 at 2:31 pm

If this ebook sold for $97 a pop when it first came out, I think $9.95 is an amazing bargain for the information contained within it.

Affiliate Confession April 16, 2008 at 2:36 pm

I just saw this yesterday. For $9.95 it can’t be beat. I’ll go pick it up cause I can always learn something new.

Jimson Lee April 16, 2008 at 3:26 pm

For new sites, Adsense is great. Which advertisers will pay you $$$ for 100 visits a month?

Besides, my philiosophy on Blogging is give away great content for free. No one should be turned away due to lack of funds. In return, Adsense Ads brings in a money. The more pageviews, the more $$$.

And at 77K pageviews a month, our Track Club is doing pretty good, though we can do better

Paolo U April 16, 2008 at 4:17 pm

Maybe I should try them.

wisdom April 16, 2008 at 4:24 pm

Adsense is pennies on the dollar. I find it interesting how you earning money off of promoting this John, but I guess adsense works for a lot of bloggers.

Clickaton April 16, 2008 at 4:48 pm

At first I admired Joel Comm, he is making most of his money from selling his books and it annoys me that he makes sequels.

thiago-dc April 16, 2008 at 5:16 pm

I hope this e book is good. $9.95 sounds like a bargain.

pennyblogger April 16, 2008 at 5:19 pm

Is it just me or does anyone else think that Joel Comm looks like an overweight Bob Saget in the picture?

Internetsalsa April 16, 2008 at 5:40 pm

Has anyone tried that program where it says earn over $91k with adsense?
There is an ad on this blog as well.

Don’t you think thats kind of Bull Crap?

pennyblogger April 16, 2008 at 5:42 pm

No I’m sure it’s possible to make that much but probably only if you are using it on 50 different high traffic sites.

Internetsalsa April 16, 2008 at 5:50 pm

What I actually meant was that its not practical.
How about If i come up with a program that will earn you 200K dollars/month.
Isn’t that also possible? Lets say if you have 100 high traffic sites.

You see my point here. I know everything is possible but just think clearly that its not practical.. Thats what I meant to say.

So has anyone seen that program and tried? Just curious…

Steve April 16, 2008 at 6:15 pm

Could he have possibly used a shittier presell page template? It’s hideous. Anyone who uses that long page format with the ‘limited-time’ offers, and yellow high-lighted text is just associating themselves with the thousands of scams using the same template.

Chetan April 16, 2008 at 6:53 pm

I am and will always be one of his product buyers.. So will be learning things from this secrets book too.

Internetsalsa April 16, 2008 at 9:50 pm

he will be making money but you????Good Luck.
Most of the stuff that he writes is alreday known stuff..The only difference is he knows how to talk.

He can tell you the a simple one sentence stuff in one paragraph.
Thats the key…

Yes you will learn, but how will that learning really help you and is it worth it? Just my thought….

You could also write the same stuff in 5 pages and sell for $2.
I would rather but that 5 pages one..Not because its cheap but what can that 200 plus pages have that we all don’t know about….

Again I might be wrong but someone could share that…

But it depends on the audience he is targeting. I m assuming that most of the readers in this blog is pretty familiar with adsense.

Zeaun April 16, 2008 at 10:57 pm

I’ve been using Adsense for some time, and it has done very well for me. But I think that the smart monetizer always should hedge his/her bets with many different programs. Pepperjam, for instance, keeps my wallet consistently heavy.

Online Business Networking April 17, 2008 at 12:26 am

Google adsense always adds success online to most high traffic websites/blogs. This looks like a great book but after all the adsense books out there, how much more can you learn ?

Tom Lindstrom April 17, 2008 at 1:06 am

Adsense is working quite well for me as well, it will work even better when I get the traffic levels up a bit.I will buy Joel´s ebook and see if there are tips that I can use to improve the performance of the ads (placement, colors and so on)

Googlelady April 17, 2008 at 1:36 am

I know that affiliate marketing sometimes are much better than adsense but if you find a way to apply both it will bring you a lot more profits than you think. There are bloggers that use both of them in the right way and they are earning $30K+ in adsense and the same amount with Affiliate marketing.

Chetan April 17, 2008 at 1:41 am

Ha ha i always love these no-named commentators who comment everything negative. Actually John is lucky to have such commentators, i would welcome them to my blog too :)

Sha April 17, 2008 at 4:14 am

I’ve been using Adsense for as long as I can remember. I love it. I’ve never read Joel’s books. I learned Adsense techniques my own way.

Internetsalsa April 17, 2008 at 7:28 am

Chetan–I enter my name but I m also wondering why it is not displaying…
If you are so worried about the name and image then my name is Nisal. And face the fact. I m not trying to be negative–I think there is truth in my comment.

“he will be making money but you????Good Luck.

Great update of this Ebook AdSense Joel Comm

Mike Huang April 17, 2008 at 10:00 am

Before you guys buy this eBook and if this eBook has those affiliate/referral incentives, you guys should take a look at my post from last week about “eBooks”. I’m not trying to spam, but most eBooks don’t teach you much because it is found everywhere including through posts from John Chow or Darren Rowse.

-Mike

Sha April 17, 2008 at 6:36 pm

Ebooks on Adsense techniques/making money: $9.95+
Information on making money on John Chow dot Com: Priceless.

I’m not saying ALL ebooks are crap, but you can definitely find most of the information right here & for the price of nothing.

Dave from Welcome Back Rosenthal April 17, 2008 at 10:58 am

Except John Chows’s ebook. Right Mike? Wouldn’t you say it was worth every penny? hahaha. Seriously his is the kind you hope they all will be like.

At any rate it seems like 2 people bought the book and one was happy and one was not.

I got inspired by this long discussion last night and wrote about how I’m making money with Adsense.

Chetan April 18, 2008 at 8:50 am

@ Nisal aka no-name commentator, you and me might be knowing the stuff and can write it well too. But we dont do so, atleast John is doing that and whats wrong if people appreciate him for that. I never say that what John writes is never unknown, but atleast he helps out a few people by posting it here.

make money blogging April 19, 2008 at 6:56 am

What you’re missing here is that when you click through to the order page you’re buying a 29.95/month subscription to his newsletter, you have to scroll to the bottom of the page and click cancel to get t e-book, very underhanded if you ask me. Heres his update because theres been lash back
“First, there has been some discussion about the
continuity program we have implemented.
We have added a line item for the report to the
shopping cart so as to avoid any confusion. This
allows customers to opt-out of the continuity
program should they wish.”
Ya how many “confused” people just got smoked before he decided to notify the community at large about this. Look man if you’re going to sell a subscription then say it. DONT mis-inform people on the sales page and have them order the subscription only to have to do the leg work to cancel it to get book. Can we say OTO or anything else. What a piece of work that is.
I havent checked to see if he updated the order page but according to his updates he has.

Paul Piotrowski April 20, 2008 at 3:44 pm

I bought the eBook and tested in on my site. In one day I had a 2590% increase in earnings compared to my daily avarage over the last six months.

I wrote about it here: http://www.inspiredmoneymaker.com/2008/04/18/adsense-is-alive/

I think for new blogs that don’t get enough traffic yet to get the $500 paid reviews and such, AdSense makes sense. However, just slapping it on the page without any tweaking doesn’t work. I think the book is absolutely worth the $9.95 I paid for it.

juns April 22, 2008 at 8:15 pm

its not expensive if we compare with the advantage.
but for blogger like me, its still expensive.. we just want a free stuff,hehe..

Nishadha May 5, 2008 at 4:57 am

Tried it and for someone relatively new to Adsense provides good information.
