John Chow Review Not Enough? How About Cow As Well?

written by John Chow on December 8, 2007

How to make $593 in less than one hour

Gyutae Park of Winning the Web has upped the stakes in the $400 John Chow review contest. In addition to offering to buy the winner a review from me, Gyutae will also be buying one lucky commentator a $200 John Cow review. I guess if you can’t win a review by me, the next best thing is winning one from the cow.

The John Cow review will go to a random commentator on all Winning the Web posts in December. However, the winner will be announced via RSS feed so it’s still important to subscribe. The winner then has 24 hours to claim the prize. Otherwise, a new winner will be chosen.

I guess the more comments you have on Winning the Web, the better your chances of being selected for a moo review.

I have to give Winning the Web credit. He’s came up with a very unique and effective way to increase both his RSS and comment count. This could be his break out moment. I’m going to go comment on his blog now.

Full contest rules can be found on this post.

I’ll be commenting to. I’ve had a pretty good week this week. Maybe a cow review for next week to round things out.

If you win twice..

Steven December 8, 2007 at 11:27 pm

Yeah, I think they’re separate, like runner up. Funny if John ends up winning his own review LOL

Millionaire's Trend December 9, 2007 at 1:45 pm

haha, John don,t need his own review…lol

Affiliate Confession December 9, 2007 at 2:29 pm

Maybe John will win Cow’s review. It will then be a Cow Chow review.

Ninja Dollar December 9, 2007 at 5:38 pm

I’d really like to read John Chow review his own site. Although I somehow feel that it may contain just a couple of affiliate links….though obviously not AGLOCO…

Michael December 8, 2007 at 8:20 pm

I’m not sure that I would want my website reviewed just yet. Wouldn’t that be best left for someone with a more completed website?

Danny @ MarketTreasure.com December 9, 2007 at 4:05 am

Traffic is never bad :P and if you get reviewed by JohnChow or JohnCow and monetize the site properly you can make some good quick cash :)

I’ve thought about that to since there are things I want to add to make my blog look better and function better. But hey, John always offers good critiques and suggestions. So I’d love to win either.

Millionaire's Trend December 9, 2007 at 1:51 pm

You got a nice blog bro…your adsense is far better than me…

LoL plain, clean and direct ;)

MoneyNing December 9, 2007 at 1:22 pm

Good suggestion :)

Millionaire's Trend December 9, 2007 at 1:47 pm

Retard Trader.com , good site…your site far too complete than mine…

John Chow Graphs December 10, 2007 at 12:42 pm

Michael, the site looks nice…not sure about the URL though!

Neil Duckett December 8, 2007 at 8:38 pm

Sounds like a good idea to me, heading there now.

Famous Quotes December 8, 2007 at 9:44 pm

I am going to read the rules first.

Millionaire's Trend December 9, 2007 at 1:55 pm

simple rules…

Recap on how to win

1. Subscribe to the Winning the Web RSS feed.
2. Look for letters at the end of upcoming Winning the Web posts.
3. Unscramble the 11 letters and be the first to figure out the correct word/phrase.
4. Win a free John Chow review to advertise your site.

Some rules

* Letters will be added to the scrambled message in random upcoming posts on Winning the Web. You must subscribe to the RSS feed to view it.
* To take a guess at the unscrambled word/phrase, you must comment on this post.
* You can guess what the word/phrase is at any time in the process, but only 1 entry per person (by website & ip address). * You must enter the web site you want reviewed when commenting on this post.
* Winner will be announced Friday, December 21, 2007.

Hint

* The unscrambled code is made up of 2 words (11 letters total) and is a ‘thing’.

Blog Contests December 8, 2007 at 10:28 pm

$600 is a lot to lay down for a contest – I hope it’s going well for him

Danny @ MarketTreasure.com December 9, 2007 at 4:08 am

HeHe if he got the money and wants to give it away, who cares if it goes well or not

Blogging Experiment December 9, 2007 at 9:04 am

$600 is nothing when you consider the fact that his RSS subscriptions are likely going through the roof and he’s gotten lots of traffic from both Chow and probably Cow now as well. It’s a smart move and could very well end up being a bargain.

Make Money Schemes December 9, 2007 at 10:52 am

Call me boring but I always consider $600 worth thinking about. I could certainly do with those reviews!

Blogging Experiment December 9, 2007 at 5:29 pm

I meant it’s not as big a deal as the commentators above were making it out to be.

MoneyNing December 9, 2007 at 1:23 pm

I agree with this. I wonder how much of those subscriptions are quality readers though.

Affiliate Confession December 9, 2007 at 12:54 pm

Not really. It would cost you way more than $600 to get as many new rss sign-ups via ppc and rss subscribers is what brings $$ into yuor blog.

Chris Jacobson December 8, 2007 at 10:33 pm

So many contests to keep track of. I’ll head over there now and check it out.

Jerlene December 8, 2007 at 11:03 pm

I think I’ll actually participate in this little contest though. I could use a review by John Cow.

Danny @ MarketTreasure.com December 9, 2007 at 4:06 am

Who wouldn’t ??

Heading over there right now too :)

HeavyDollars.com December 8, 2007 at 11:32 pm

I am new to this blog area. I hope some day I will also be making great posts and reviewed by Jhon. A review by John is a like a dream coming true.

MoneyNing December 9, 2007 at 1:24 pm

All you need is $400 for your dream to come true! :)

Millionaire's Trend December 9, 2007 at 3:51 pm

not a dream if we got enough money…

Gasmoney December 8, 2007 at 11:41 pm

thats a great way to get members and my hats (grey) is off to him

Money Blue Book December 8, 2007 at 11:59 pm

Mr. Park is just as evil as Mr. Chow!

charles December 9, 2007 at 3:02 am

I guess even more evil than the two JC’s. haha.

Danny @ MarketTreasure.com December 9, 2007 at 4:08 am

Nah wouldn’t go that far :P

Millionaire's Trend December 9, 2007 at 3:55 pm

Haha…you’re not the only one thinking about that…both of them is evil…

frank lee December 9, 2007 at 2:08 am

JC what happen to blogrush on your site

Danny @ MarketTreasure.com December 9, 2007 at 4:10 am

This post is getting a ton of ping backs. I’ll go check out what they’re all saying about it hehe. Most probably about how evil they all are

shy guy December 9, 2007 at 4:15 am

I guess it is good to get review by one of JC…
Ha ha ha.. like the pic of chow and cow.. Funny pic..

James B. December 9, 2007 at 12:33 pm

I agree, cool pic. I dig it totally.

Beanieville December 9, 2007 at 9:45 am

Fat Man December 9, 2007 at 10:06 am

Thats not a bad deal. Definitely seems worth it to try and win this.

Etienne Teo December 10, 2007 at 2:28 am

I guess not winning JC review but a cow review seems alright.

Odd News December 9, 2007 at 11:23 am

The picture of the Cow looks good by you :) I will checkout this, if I can win any.

oni Micheal December 9, 2007 at 11:36 am

Thank you John Chow I am Highly very impressed with your great effort to have connect with me to the world and the globe not for today but for the future generation , you had made a office for me just as my mentor Sir Derek Gehl of Internet Marketing center had assured me of making millions in future to come and its real cuase its already happening , You had made fortune for me and my generathion lineage , I say thank you sir and God bless .

James B. December 9, 2007 at 12:25 pm

Thats pretty cool. The ratio on the reviewme’s are totally out of wack. I looked up on alexa and johnchow.com gets way more than twice the visitors as johncow.com gets. Here is the link if you want to check it out. http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/mozilla.com?site0=johnchow.com&site1=johncow.com&y=r&z=3&h=300&w=610&range=3m&size=Medium

MoneyNing December 9, 2007 at 1:25 pm

Alexa is not accurate. I bet this site gets at least 5 times the traffic the other site gets :)

Nicholas James December 9, 2007 at 1:16 pm

Seems a good deal for users who are entering the competition and a nice link between them…since John Cow is referred to as a clone of John Chow

MoneyNing December 9, 2007 at 1:26 pm

Contests are quite good. I always end up getting many subscribers every time I run contests.

PinoyTech December 9, 2007 at 5:53 pm

I think I need to go into a blogging spree to win.

erick December 9, 2007 at 7:08 pm

chow, u are a king of capital bloggers

Fiscal Musings December 9, 2007 at 7:38 pm

I think I’ll head over and comment. I could use the review and the traffic.

Affiliate Unleashed December 9, 2007 at 10:22 pm

Sweet prizes. Great ideas too. :)

hts December 10, 2007 at 11:40 am

IMO, the idea is great. The blog that started this will see a great increase of subscribers + commentaries , which basically means a loyal audience and returning visitors… I think the $600 they spend on the prizes are well invested.

Steve! December 15, 2007 at 12:52 pm

John Cow is very different to John Chow in my opinion. Don’t know how they connected.
