John Chow Review Not Enough? How About Cow As Well?

written by John Chow on December 8th, 2007

Gyutae Park of Winning the Web has upped the stakes in the $400 John Chow review contest. In addition to offering to buy the winner a review from me, Gyutae will also be buying one lucky commentator a $200 John Cow review. I guess if you can’t win a review by me, the next best thing is winning one from the cow.

The John Cow review will go to a random commentator on all Winning the Web posts in December. However, the winner will be announced via RSS feed so it’s still important to subscribe. The winner then has 24 hours to claim the prize. Otherwise, a new winner will be chosen.

I guess the more comments you have on Winning the Web, the better your chances of being selected for a moo review.

I have to give Winning the Web credit. He’s came up with a very unique and effective way to increase both his RSS and comment count. This could be his break out moment. I’m going to go comment on his blog now.

Full contest rules can be found on this post.

  1. I’ll be commenting to. I’ve had a pretty good week this week. Maybe a cow review for next week to round things out.

  2. I’m not sure that I would want my website reviewed just yet. Wouldn’t that be best left for someone with a more completed website?

  3. Sounds like a good idea to me, heading there now.

  4. I am going to read the rules first.

    • simple rules…

      Recap on how to win

      1. Subscribe to the Winning the Web RSS feed.
      2. Look for letters at the end of upcoming Winning the Web posts.
      3. Unscramble the 11 letters and be the first to figure out the correct word/phrase.
      4. Win a free John Chow review to advertise your site.

      Some rules

      * Letters will be added to the scrambled message in random upcoming posts on Winning the Web. You must subscribe to the RSS feed to view it.
      * To take a guess at the unscrambled word/phrase, you must comment on this post.
      * You can guess what the word/phrase is at any time in the process, but only 1 entry per person (by website & ip address). * You must enter the web site you want reviewed when commenting on this post.
      * Winner will be announced Friday, December 21, 2007.

      Hint

      * The unscrambled code is made up of 2 words (11 letters total) and is a ‘thing’.

  5. If you cant beat ‘em, you might as well join ‘em!!

  6. Lol… this is a funny post.

  7. $600 is a lot to lay down for a contest – I hope it’s going well for him

  8. So many contests to keep track of. I’ll head over there now and check it out.

  9. I think I’ll actually participate in this little contest though. I could use a review by John Cow.

  10. I am new to this blog area. I hope some day I will also be making great posts and reviewed by Jhon. A review by John is a like a dream coming true.

  11. thats a great way to get members and my hats (grey) is off to him

  12. Promotions, promotions…whatever it takes to generate traffic I suppose

  13. Mr. Park is just as evil as Mr. Chow!

  14. frank lee

JC what happen to blogrush on your site

  15. This post is getting a ton of ping backs. I’ll go check out what they’re all saying about it hehe. Most probably about how evil they all are

  16. I guess it is good to get review by one of JC…
Ha ha ha.. like the pic of chow and cow.. Funny pic..

  18. Thats not a bad deal. Definitely seems worth it to try and win this.

  19. The picture of the Cow looks good by you :) I will checkout this, if I can win any.

  20. Thank you John Chow I am Highly very impressed with your great effort to have connect with me to the world and the globe not for today but for the future generation , you had made a office for me just as my mentor Sir Derek Gehl of Internet Marketing center had assured me of making millions in future to come and its real cuase its already happening , You had made fortune for me and my generathion lineage , I say thank you sir and God bless .

  21. Thats pretty cool. The ratio on the reviewme’s are totally out of wack. I looked up on alexa and johnchow.com gets way more than twice the visitors as johncow.com gets. Here is the link if you want to check it out. http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/mozilla.com?site0=johnchow.com&site1=johncow.com&y=r&z=3&h=300&w=610&range=3m&size=Medium

  22. Seems a good deal for users who are entering the competition and a nice link between them…since John Cow is referred to as a clone of John Chow

  23. Contests are quite good. I always end up getting many subscribers every time I run contests.

  24. I think I need to go into a blogging spree to win.

  25. chow, u are a king of capital bloggers

  26. I think I’ll head over and comment. I could use the review and the traffic.

  27. Sweet prizes. Great ideas too. :)

  28. hts

IMO, the idea is great. The blog that started this will see a great increase of subscribers + commentaries , which basically means a loyal audience and returning visitors… I think the $600 they spend on the prizes are well invested.

  29. John Cow is very different to John Chow in my opinion. Don’t know how they connected.
