John Chow Review Not Enough? How About Cow As Well?

written by John Chow on December 8th, 2007

Gyutae Park of Winning the Web has upped the stakes in the $400 John Chow review contest. In addition to offering to buy the winner a review from me, Gyutae will also be buying one lucky commentator a $200 John Cow review. I guess if you can’t win a review by me, the next best thing is winning one from the cow.

The John Cow review will go to a random commentator on all Winning the Web posts in December. However, the winner will be announced via RSS feed so it’s still important to subscribe. The winner then has 24 hours to claim the prize. Otherwise, a new winner will be chosen.

I guess the more comments you have on Winning the Web, the better your chances of being selected for a moo review.

I have to give Winning the Web credit. He’s came up with a very unique and effective way to increase both his RSS and comment count. This could be his break out moment. I’m going to go comment on his blog now.

Full contest rules can be found on this post.

I’ll be commenting to. I’ve had a pretty good week this week. Maybe a cow review for next week to round things out.

Yeah, I think they’re separate, like runner up. Funny if John ends up winning his own review LOL

Maybe John will win Cow’s review. It will then be a Cow Chow review.

I’d really like to read John Chow review his own site. Although I somehow feel that it may contain just a couple of affiliate links….though obviously not AGLOCO…

I’m not sure that I would want my website reviewed just yet. Wouldn’t that be best left for someone with a more completed website?

Traffic is never bad :P and if you get reviewed by JohnChow or JohnCow and monetize the site properly you can make some good quick cash :)

I’ve thought about that to since there are things I want to add to make my blog look better and function better. But hey, John always offers good critiques and suggestions. So I’d love to win either.

I am going to read the rules first.

Millionaire's Trend said on December 9th, 2007 at 1:55 pm

simple rules…

Recap on how to win

1. Subscribe to the Winning the Web RSS feed.
2. Look for letters at the end of upcoming Winning the Web posts.
3. Unscramble the 11 letters and be the first to figure out the correct word/phrase.
4. Win a free John Chow review to advertise your site.

Some rules

* Letters will be added to the scrambled message in random upcoming posts on Winning the Web. You must subscribe to the RSS feed to view it.
* To take a guess at the unscrambled word/phrase, you must comment on this post.
* You can guess what the word/phrase is at any time in the process, but only 1 entry per person (by website & ip address). * You must enter the web site you want reviewed when commenting on this post.
* Winner will be announced Friday, December 21, 2007.

Hint

* The unscrambled code is made up of 2 words (11 letters total) and is a ‘thing’.

$600 is nothing when you consider the fact that his RSS subscriptions are likely going through the roof and he’s gotten lots of traffic from both Chow and probably Cow now as well. It’s a smart move and could very well end up being a bargain.

Not really. It would cost you way more than $600 to get as many new rss sign-ups via ppc and rss subscribers is what brings $$ into yuor blog.

Thats pretty cool. The ratio on the reviewme’s are totally out of wack. I looked up on alexa and johnchow.com gets way more than twice the visitors as johncow.com gets. Here is the link if you want to check it out. http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/mozilla.com?site0=johnchow.com&site1=johncow.com&y=r&z=3&h=300&w=610&range=3m&size=Medium

IMO, the idea is great. The blog that started this will see a great increase of subscribers + commentaries , which basically means a loyal audience and returning visitors… I think the $600 they spend on the prizes are well invested.
