John Chow Vs. Shoemoney - All But Over

written by John Chow on October 26th, 2007

Thanks to ComicTan for making the cartoon. Noticed that Shoe has to use both hands to try and grab a new reader? :)

With just five days to go in the John Chow Vs. Shoemoney RSS competition, I lead the Shoe by 2,539 readers. As a matter of fact, I now have more total RSS readers than Shoemoney. Unless Shoe pulls some kind of magic rabbit out of a hat, this competition is all but over.

If you blogged about the competition and told your readers to subscribe to my feed, then please let me know because you could win some great prizes, including a $750 blog redesign by Adriann Pienaar of Adii. I’ll be drawing winning blogs at the end of the month so get your entry in now. Full rules here.

In the mean time, I still have some stuff to give away for the RSS by Email subscribers. They include:

The winners will be drawn this Sunday. You have to be subscribed to my RSS by Email in order to win. If you haven’t done so, just enter your email address here and confirm the your subscription.

Thanks to ToonRefugee for the cartoon and thanks to Blogging Experiment for the heads up on the ‘toon. No pandas were harmed during the creation of this ‘toon. Or so I would have you believe.

Who knows, maybe Shoemoney has saved his most evil moves for last  I hear he almost got arrested for offering candy to children in exchange for them signing up to his feed

This contest is still going? It was over several days ago when you overtook him. Nice comic there. It resembles you. But ShoeMoney looks like Darren Rowse there.

The contest won’t be over till the end of the month.

Well done John, only a month ago we were like Wohaa he made 8k readers, and look at the chicklet now..its 13k readers (yummie). Lets just hope that Shoe doesn’t like rabbits and hence he doesn’t have one, but even if he did…only 5 days to go ;)

Congratulations John! But still the contest is not over and might wanna watch out for Shoe. You never know, he is not a novice player either, he might pull out something really big at the very end.

Congratulations once again

I wonder if Shoe created a marketing plan that asked for all of his readers to sign up in the last 24 hours of the competition? :?:

 Good for you, John. I’ve been following this with interest this week, along with the Google PageRank fiasco. You seem to like challenges, and appear to be good at at promotion, so if you think you’re up to it and have this bet with Shoemoney stitched up, I’ll throw down a gauntlet right here and now. If you can use that influence to help spread the news of this, and convert it into 200 entrants for a good cause, I’ll pimp you out for a month. If Shoemoney reads this, I’d like to see him take you head on. Subscribers are one thing, but what’s your influence game like?

Congrats, my money was on you anyway - just waiting for a few more days until I collect my winnings from Vegas. I blogged about it on my site here: http://www.agrandioseblog.com/2007/10/04/john-chow-vs-shoemoney-who-will-win/

What’s great is that you both win with the results of this contest: you’re both getting a substantial number of new readers! So while you can play it off as you “destroying” him all you want, we all know the real result ;)

Definitely looking forward to the next two earnings posts, especially once you adjust for the new audience size.

I should add to my above comment…the Blogging for Boobs initiative has a reach of at least 50,000 users and bloggers, from sites as densely populated as MySpace, Blogspot, and Blog City. There’s a lot of potential subscribers out there.

At this very moment i noticed from the Feedburner button on john’s and Shoemoney site:
12799 Vs 12708
Did John lost some subscribers?
I noticed that johnchow.com went down to PR5, i still think i was one of the first to notice it… anyway my googlebar and Firefox plug-in tells me johnchow.com no longer is PR% but just PR4! What’s going on with Google? Is Google looking for more real content?

yeah they are almost equal in numbers number!

the feedburners readers are for the last 24hours so it’s very probable that readers unsubscribed the feed, maybe by thinking the competition was over…
