Kontera Offers $100 Cash To New Publishers

written by John Chow on December 19, 2008

Make Money!

Kontera has a new promotion running from now until January 15, 2009. If you sign-up for an account, they’ll give you $100 once you’ve made $75. In other words, join Kontera today, earn $75 by running their ads and they’ll pay you $100 instead. That’s a $25 bonus! Sounds like a good deal to me.

Kontera recently re-launched their publisher center to allow publishers instant access to their ad code and begin working with Kontera in minutes upon sign up. This has been huge in terms of publishers looking for instant gratification. Along with the light speed sign up process, Kontera offers plugins for most blogging platforms so installation of the code is as simple as uploading the script to your WordPress plugins folder and activating.

The only way to get this $100 sign-up special is by applying via this link. Unfortunately, that’s not an affiliate link so I don’t get anything for referring you. However, Kontera has been a long time sponsor of this blog so I’m more than happy to give their promotion a shout out. This offer is available for sign-ups through Jan 15th 2009. So, the sooner you sign-up with Kontera the sooner you can start earning.

Aww no chance for those who signed up long ago? By the way thanks for visiting my blog John. That little picture in MyBlogLog is good enough! I hope you like it..

Taris Janitens December 19, 2008 at 3:01 pm

Ahhh I’m still waiting for the great one to grace my blog!! I guess I just gotta keep posting lol

Make money online December 19, 2008 at 7:21 pm

yeh, same question here..
what if i have signed up already but haven’t started yet ?

Car Blog December 20, 2008 at 10:46 am

Then you wont get the 100$ benefit.

J.D. Meier - Sources of Insight December 19, 2008 at 1:17 pm

Sounds like a good deal.

How can I see Kontera in action? I can’t figure out where you’re using Kontera on your blog, since I’m not sure what to look for. I read some of your earlier posts to try and figure it out, but I’m still not sure what to look for? (I want to see the end in mind)

John Chow December 19, 2008 at 3:57 pm

Kontera are the double underlined links in the blog post. When you hover over the link, it shows an ad.

Ashley December 19, 2008 at 1:19 pm

Has anyone actually made any money from Kontera? I signed up a few months ago and ran their ads on my blogs for a couple of months but they were never able to deliver ads that were even remotly relevant to my content and I only earned like 1 or 2 cents per click, which didn’t ad up to much. I run sports blogs so maybe that was the issue.

What has other people’s experience been with them?

Ben Pei December 19, 2008 at 1:28 pm

I am on the make money field and I get few cents per click as well..

ZK@Internet Marketing Blog December 19, 2008 at 1:34 pm

not sure if its worth , i think it works well with good traffic on your site

Taris Janitens December 19, 2008 at 3:04 pm

A few cents per click definitely seems kinda low!!

TYCP Entertainment Magazine December 22, 2008 at 10:21 pm

I’m not too crazy about Kontera. Since you had no luck with them, you should try Infolinks. I’ve been earning good money with them.

Chris De La Rosa December 19, 2008 at 1:28 pm

Kontera disappoints to be quite honest and bold. Very low payouts and I think (not 100% sure) it slows down the loading process of a page. After removing it from my blog I noticed faster load times and other subtle differences ..like people not getting annoyed with the ads and staying longer to read the actual blog.

Ben Pei December 19, 2008 at 1:31 pm

I had some impulsion to remove it as well.. Didn’t work very well for me.

ZK@WebTrafficROI.com December 19, 2008 at 5:33 pm

i never tried it, read that it was not worth if you did not have great traffic

Taris Janitens December 19, 2008 at 3:06 pm

Well I guess there we have it!!! Still maybe worth a look – perhaps it’s just not optimized well enough?? I’d like to hear Johns take on how its working for him

TYCP Entertainment Magazine December 22, 2008 at 10:24 pm

I noticed the slowness as well on my own sites.

ZK@Internet Marketing Blog December 19, 2008 at 1:30 pm

thanks for paying a visit John , my bloglog picture of you on my blog makes it look good…I ve not tried this…the payouts are good when you have traffic

Ben Pei December 19, 2008 at 1:33 pm

LOL you said exact same thing as me. John visiting his top commentators? I hope I didn’t disappoint him..

ZK@WebTrafficROI.com December 19, 2008 at 5:32 pm

You have a great blog, he wont be disappointed

Ben Pei December 19, 2008 at 10:59 pm

Thats a compliment there my friend.. I am touched.

Rowell Dionicio December 19, 2008 at 1:39 pm

How do readers feel when they hover over those links and get those pop ups? I’ve seen mixed emotions with using this kind of service.

Ben Pei December 19, 2008 at 1:47 pm

Well it really depends.. Whether the reader is acceptive or not. Even the best thing in the world will get negative comments.

Rowell Dionicio December 19, 2008 at 1:57 pm

I’ll give it a shot. I decided to turn it into an experiment and a blog post.

Ben Pei December 19, 2008 at 2:21 pm

There you go.. one more great idea to interact with your readers!

Taris Janitens December 19, 2008 at 3:08 pm

I think I had Kontera confused with another network – in reality, a few cents per click for those words turned into ad links within your post isn’t THAT bad

And I can’t see that many people getting upset about it – its not really that intrusive I think

ZK@WebTrafficROI.com December 19, 2008 at 5:38 pm

It may work well for a high traffic site or blog

raj December 19, 2008 at 1:59 pm

They had a great feature in their reporting panel but they actual REMOVED it!!! Makes no sense. Actually two features: (1) report by keyword and (2) by URL/domain. Both are gone, or move somewhere where it’s not obvious.

Daniel Massicotte December 19, 2008 at 2:47 pm

How long does it take Kontera to show up on my blog after I install the plugin John? Seems like they’re taking their time.

Taris Janitens December 19, 2008 at 3:02 pm

Thanks for the heads up about this – I dont know that I’ll sign up, as I want to develop other networks first, but it is a good thing to know about atleast

Li Weng December 19, 2008 at 3:08 pm

Hey John, you realize your page title for this post actually says “Kontera Offers 0 Cash..”… Anyway I’m off for the day. laterz.

Taris Janitens December 19, 2008 at 3:23 pm

I was gonna post something about that myself actually – hopefully he changes it!! Cause 0 cash is not much of an offer

if you read the title with the 0, its actually kinda funny lol!!

Ben Pei December 19, 2008 at 10:55 pm

Lol yeah I noticed that too!

Chester December 19, 2008 at 3:38 pm

That’s not fair :( What about existing Kontera publisher?

Scott December 19, 2008 at 3:41 pm

I just signed up 2 days ago, damn.

Stephen December 19, 2008 at 4:56 pm

Be VERY careful with KONTERA. They were extremely shady and dishonest with me. Don’t believe any of their promises unless it is written down.

Ben Pei December 20, 2008 at 4:01 am

Why? What experience did you have?

Ben Pei December 20, 2008 at 4:02 am

What experience did you have?

TYCP Entertainment Magazine December 22, 2008 at 10:29 pm

Come back & tell us what went down.

jesse grant December 19, 2008 at 4:57 pm

Kontera is okay , you need lots of traffic or thousands of pages of content to really make some good money , I have over 400 pages of content with kontera text links and have made about 14$ since july , though it has been picking up lately so I could see the potential of being a publisher . Im also pretty sure after you reach 100$ they allow you to become an affiliate by referring other publishers, who knows how long it will take me to get to that point. Its a goal of sort i guess

Learn English Online December 19, 2008 at 5:45 pm

That’s very interesting!

Seo Creations December 19, 2008 at 6:08 pm

If you have good traffic then Kontera will works goods for you

charles palma December 19, 2008 at 10:16 pm

I have signed up for Kontera weeks ago and there is no way i could get this $100. Im earning alot from them now.

Monty - End of WWW? December 20, 2008 at 12:11 am

Hmm.. Isn’t selling do follow links on your blog “illegal” in the Google Law? Is guess it is.. and John knows it why ;) I would surely sign up.. But I’m not gonna place these ads on my blog.. Maybe on some other website.. Thanks anyways John! :)

clickktdotcom December 20, 2008 at 1:48 am

I had some impulsion to remove it as well.. Didn’t work very well for me.

BusinessX December 20, 2008 at 10:26 am

The bonus is tempting, as are other offers. But I am trying to push amazon links on keywords. It takes awhile as I am doing it manually as I post, but it should beat anything else out there. Plus, they are not paid ads.

Arun Basil Lal December 20, 2008 at 11:07 am

Hey, I signed up a week agao, So I wont get this offer right..?
Bad luck to me. I should have waited till today.

Thanks for letting me know this.
cheers

Martin December 20, 2008 at 12:47 pm

KONTERA sucks big time! their payments are ridiculously low, the script is slowing the loading of your site a lot and their support sucks as well. dont even bother, i wasted months with them.

ignacio December 20, 2008 at 10:07 pm

making money with kontera requires a lot of patience and a lot of traffic,so be
prepared to t stand by

ShoutWhat December 21, 2008 at 12:54 am

Hey this is kool, I’ve just started blogging for around two to three months am I eligible for this?

Kontera Publisher Services December 21, 2008 at 1:01 am

Hello,

My name is Vered from Kontera.

Thanks for this great post John. I wanted to drop by and bring to your attention a major issue that needs to be corrected right away.

The new sign up offer is as follows: Sign up to Kontera, reach $75 in earnings and Kontera will round up your first payment to $100. This means Kontera is throwing in an extra $25 – not $100 as was reported here…

The offer is available for sign-ups through Jan 15th and as you mentioned only sign-ups through the following link will qualify http://www.kontera.com/ads-for-site/become-a-kontera-publisher?sr=100414&BD=35&pr=1000 .

Thanks to everyone who commented here and please know that we’re always happy to help/offer suggestions to get your Kontera earnings up. Feel free to contact Kontera Support support[@]kontera.com with any question, comment or request.

Thanks again John and happy holidays everyone

Duncan December 21, 2008 at 2:14 am

Thanks for the clarification.

Though John was wrong about the $100, I still thank him for reminding me to sign up fro Kontera.

Aditya December 21, 2008 at 5:57 am

Great post John. I am already up with Kontera and have made some nice money with them.

I wrote a new post on my blog at http://techravings.info/2008/12/stumbleuponcom-traffic-case-study-and.html which is about getting more and more traffic from StumbleUpon. While writing, that I included some of the tweaks learned from you (indirectly).

Blogevolution2.0 December 21, 2008 at 1:18 pm

John this is awesome dude, thanks for hosting this promotion, Kontera is an excellent way to monetize any blog.

that’s almost 50 times what I had made on Kontera before I gave up on them.

BobM December 22, 2008 at 11:56 pm

Thanks a lot for the Kontera link. Just signed up. If I may ask whats the social plug-in your using in lower right side of post please. I like it!

Associate Money December 24, 2008 at 6:49 am

It is rather difficult to earn $100 from Kontera, especially for small bloggers. I have signed up but I wish they had offered $100 free advertising credits.

Free Indian movies December 31, 2008 at 4:34 pm

Kontera website signup sheet did not show the offer though. Assuming that the URL in the Kontera services comment works even though their URL does not mention about the offer either.

Darn, I had already been a member, but haven’t implemented it yet on my blog. I’m going to wait a little longer ’til I get over 100 posts up and running, then maybe set it up through the Kontera Wordpress plugin.

What does everyone think of Kontera in general as far as in-text linking? What kinds of conversions are you getting?
