Kontera Wordpress Plugin

Kontera ContentLink allows you to make money from advertising without giving up any current advertising spots. Their technology reads your post and turns certain words into an ad. The highlighted words are double underline and an ad pops up when you hover over it. You make money when a reader clicks on the ad and visits the advertiser.
Installing Kontera ContentLink on your blog can be quite frustrating if you don’t have some basic understanding of HTML. Kontera does a good job explaining how to lay down the ad codes but it can still be over the heads of some publishers. To make things as easy as possible, there is a Kontera Wordpress plugin available for download.
In order to use the Kontera Wordpress plugin, and to make money from Kontera in-text ads on your blog, you need a Kontera Publisher account. Kontera has been a good money maker for this blog - it now beats Google AdSense. And the great thing is, I didn’t have to give up any ad spot to use it.

Awsome plugin, how much time does it save as apposed to manually installing kontera yourself?
Assuming you know how to open up the file and insert the code yourself the same way you would with adsense, it shouldn’t take up much time at all. I haven’t tried the plug-in since installing the code wasn’t very difficult but I would assume the time it takes can’t be all that long.
I will get my Kontera account today.

I make very little with Kontera, like $6 in 2 months vs. $30 from Adsense.

What are the requirements for a blog to be accepted? I applied about a month ago but was not accepted.
Fill out the application and enter “John Chow Kontera partnership” into the Comments field.
I had done that but they still rejected me. I’ll give it another shot nonetheless.

How does Kontera’s ContentLink compare against Vibrant Media’s IntelliTXT?
What sort of feedback do you get from readers with this plugin? I have heard some bloggers swear against this sort of plugin as being “intrusive”, but others use it.
What do you reckon?
I installed the codes directly. I don’t think the plugin is intrusive but some reader may find the ads intrusive.
If you coordinate the kontera link color to blind with your content text it shouldn’t feel too intrusive. That’s what I do and it seems to be working well.

i’ve been using Kontera on several of my sites now and i love it. sometimes Kontera puts way too many ads on a page, but they’ve been getting better and it’s leveled itself out.
i can’t imagine the need for a plugin, as the only thing required is it place the code right before the in your html… usually your footer in WordPress.
anyway, it’s been a sweet addition to my income.

Thanks to John I got accepted with Kontera - Thanks John! However I installed this plugin and it didn’t work for some reason, no ads showed up. At any rate inserting the code they provide is really easy anyway. I was hoping the plugin would help with the options you have with Kontera (like not placing ads on bold text, changing the color of links, etc), but it doesn’t have any of that. IMO don’t bother installing this one.
alright.. i see my tag was filtered.. i meant to say, you only need to place the kontera code right before the /BODY tag in your HTML.
I think you mean /head not /body. At least that is the way I do it.
I think feve is right it is suppose to be the last code before /BODY

It works for me at the end of the head tag (lower case for valid XHTML). It loads Kontera when after the rest of the page has been loaded.

I don’t think you have to add sites, just add the code. At least, that is what I am doing.

Have you experienced not being able to log in to check your stats? Today the ‘Account Login’ button was missing. I have emailed them twice got the “someone will be in contact”. Still waiting….the issue got resolved but they should be responding to all emails. Business 101.
Also Kontera is working great for me. Much better than Adsense.
I didn’t even know of Kontera and that they were having good rates until a Kontera representative contacted me via my contact form on my technology blog and asked me if i wanted to test their system. And it really works.

Kontera really is amazing. Unlike other ad forms it doesn’t add clutter. In addition, it rewards you for writing content-rich posts. The more you write, and the better you write, the more links and clicks you get.

I’m torn. As a blog owner, I love the idea of better revenue from an ad source. But as a blog reader, the double-underline textlink ads bug the heck out of me as I’m trying to read. It breaks up my scanning of the post and sometimes I just give up and stop reading.
I found that Kontera was WAY too invasive on my blog. Perhaps they should have a user definable option to limit the number of ads / page. There were times when the double underlines were overbearing. That’s why I took them off my site.

I don’t have mine on now since it wasn’t doing much because I don’t have the readers. I’m not sure why you need a plugin since all you have to do is add a simple HTML code. Idk maybe i’m wacky.

Very good plugin, I’ll try it for my blog.
I would have to say this was one of the easiest plugins to use. All I did was upload 2 files to my plugin file, activate it, and then give it the javascript Kontera gave me. It was that easy. I think the most time consuming part was logging in via http://ftp…and we all know how fast that is. It integrates right in with wordpress and is super easy to configure. I would suggest noobs use this because you would have to be kinda dense not to figure it out.
That’s actually perfect. Been struggling with how to monetize a site I work with and this looks like the perfect solution. Thanks John!
