Learning from The Rich Dad

written by John Chow on December 6th, 2007

richdad1.jpg

The Rich Dad is in town and he wants to show you how to become rich like him. Robert Kiyosaki (the Rich Dad) is so rich he didn’t even have to come himself. Instead, his Rich Dada “Education Team” did all the teaching in a free two hour selling training session.

We showed up at the 12:30PM session because we knew it wouldn’t be as busy as the 6PM evening session. Richmond must have more retired people than I thought because the place was packed for an afternoon sessions. I’ve been to afternoon seminars for competing companies before and it was no where near this packed. Must be that Rich Dad branding (there’s a branding lesson you).

As expected, the training session is one big sales pitch for a three-day workshop on real estate investing. I can see why Rich Dad would be putting these workshops on now. With the amount sub prime loan defaults, now is as good time for the smart investors to go in and pick up all broken pieces.

The workshop cost $995 but if you sign up during the seminar, you can have it for only $495! Sounds like a good deal really. However, I still passed on it. The big thing I got out of the Rich Dad “training” session: You can make a lot of money putting on seminars!

Free Gift - How To Find Great Investments

richdad2.jpg

As a thank you for sitting through a two hour sales pitches, everyone got a free Rich Dad audio CD on how to find great investments. They were lying on the table for anyone to grab so of course, I grabbed more than one. They told me one per person but then again, they also told me no pictures as well.

If would like to grab my extra copy the Rich Dad’s audio CD so you can become rich, then reply to this post. I’ll pick a random winner Saturday. Good luck.

My brother attended one of these same seminars in Phoenix, AZ yesterday! So these guys probably have multiple ‘teams’ of presenters putting these on nationwide.

Note to self: Adsense now offers direct deposit, build a widget that diverts adsense income directly into a stock investment account, which also makes buys/sells of pre-specified stocks when the amount in the account reaches a minimum level.

Set it up so that it’s linked to a database that monitors how well others are doing in the market through their widgets. Have it make real time buy/sell orders to maximize revenue using data from this new web of widgets… No need to buy that uber expensive tracking software bankers use, a web of widgets would work too! John doe over there is making a killing this hour, align buy orders to mirror his for x amount of time.

Call it.. I dunno.. the stock jock widget.

put a rush on it! - so people don’t hurt themselves thinking they’re housing experts in 3 hours!

/rant off. Instant knowledge isn’t instant, it’s earned through years of dedication, but I bet they didn’t tell you that right John?

GemViper said on December 6th, 2007 at 4:42 pm

To be clear… that widget idea is a joke, it takes knowledge to make money in stocks too!

Does these “Get Rich” lessons work? I always see those ads here and there. What I think is if somebody is motivated enough, with hard work and some luck they will reach the goal. It also takes some talent, not everybody posses that. On the other hand some people on the right track may need some inspiring words from people like him!

I have read or listened to most of Robert Kiyosaki’s books. He has some good thoughts on how to think of money but to be honest most of what he has to say is hype. I think you’d be better off buying the book The Wealthy Barber by David Chilton .

It´s no more than two weeks ago, since I finished reading “Rich Dad Poor Dad”, and I was really happy with it! I started reading on the internet about the author, and it sure seems like everyone don’t findt the book to be as good as I did. Apparently the book is just a fiction story. My first thought was that this was a real story from his own life. Furthermore, he has been involved in som kind of mlm program, which easily upsets people as well. However, I found the book to be really mindopening, and worth the price. I am not sure I would pay $500 for a workshop, but it seems like a rather good deal…

“The big thing I got out of the Rich Dad “training” session: You can make a lot of money putting on seminars!”

Congratulations. That’s exactly what intelligent people should get out of these things. YOU are much better qualified to teach people how to make money than the “Rich Dads.” In a way, you do “make money by teaching people how to make money.” But at least you post useful information. You blog about blogging, but actually blog and use real examples of making money.
