List of Blogger Salaries

Paula Mooney has compile a list of blogger and webmaster salaries. There are 60 bloggers and webmasters on the list. I’m ranked number 12 with a yearly income of $140,431.92. It’s pretty easy to figure out that Paula took my April blog income and multiply it by 12.
I assumed no growth rate for the annualized salaries, even though some dot com moguls like John Chow are reporting huge growth rates in blogging revenue from March to April 2007.
Since others reported a dip from prior months, I figured assuming a growth rate of 0% would even things out overall. (I did take Intermediate Accounting I and II in college…)
I also took the numbers at face value — some webmasters list their gross revenue, some net. Others include swag, pay for services, etc. — all the perks that they wouldn’t have gotten if not for blogging.
The list must have taken a long time to compile and, as with all lists, it’s probably wildly inaccurate. For example, she list Woot! income as $54,750. While that maybe what Woot! makes from Google ads, Paula seem to have forgotten that Woot! sells $50 million of products on their site. Paula used my blog income for her list and ignore my main moneymaker because I have never released financial data on that. That’s a good thing really.
If you want to get on the blogger money list it shouldn’t be that hard. You would need to make more than $479.88 from you blog this year. If that is you, then send your proof to Paula and I’m sure she’ll add you the next time she updates the list.

If she took your April income and multiplied it by 12, that would give you a rough estimate if the rest of your months were similar. What if they aren’t what if you keep doubling the month next?

No doubt! Regardless of variance… 12 solid months like the one would be fine with me! But I think with my nature I would still want more and continue to work my butt off to achieve more.
If you have to make $479.88 a year I would never make it on there.
It will be more than the 140000$ by the end of this year. John has been improving his monthly earnings month after month. These will only continue to increase.

True… to a certain extent. However, the number of people interested in reading the content presented on John’s page is limited… and the amount of money he makes from this site will reach an end at some point. Not saying he’s reached it yet… but maybe soon?

Thanks for sharing! This kind of thing gives me inspiration as a new blogger, that it can be done and done well. So many folks look at me like I am insane when I mention that you can earn money blogging. I love to have “evidence” as you provide in your monthly updates and lists such as these.
I still get those looks too PBM! I hope they’ll go away soon, but they can not understand all they want while I earn money online
If you look at the number of people blogging (probably millions) compared to the number of people on that list making a decent salary (about 25)… there would appear (unfortunately) to be some pretty strong evidence that blogging is not a very promising way to make a living.
Doesn’t stop me from trying though.

good point but I am sure darren makes way more money through his other sources…as well as shoe money..
I read on his site that he makes somewhere between $120,000 and $1.2M — how very precise LOL. I can imagine him making more than John though.
$120,000… $1.2 mil… no big deal, just a factor of 10. haha
I make between $1.00 and $1,000,000,000 online. You be the judge.
that just means that 22000 people read his feed the other day. Doesn’t nessesarily mean that 22,000 people visited his blog to generate click/add traffic
John also does the ReviewMe reviews where he gets like $200 from each review he does. I don’t see ProBlogger doing reviews
Well Darren does not do reveiws beacause most reviews on this site are just about some copy cat starting a blog about “making money” and if Darren done these reviews his blog would seem low.
Also shoemoney’s blog is more of a journal for him. If you want to read good blog that add value read these blogs.

Darren Rowse makes more from blogging. He’s been longer in the blogging business. And he has more than 1 blog. I thought he wrote somewhere he earned mid 6 figures.

It’s obviously a nice but of fun but I agree it’s not very factual! My blog has grown exponentially recently and I predict to make 3 times what Paula predicted. It’s a cool list to read!

Thats a cool list and I see Kumiko is on the list also. I would like to congratuale each person on the list for showing the rest of us that it is possible. I was definitely impressed by jane may’s performance. Him and john are doing a great job at career ramblings. John ofcourse you are a super star and need no list to tell you that. Keep up the great work people !!

I was surprised to find my blog in the list! Paula has definitely done her homework.
Like everyone said, the income figures are definitely an estimate… but I’m sure Paula will be doing follow-up posts to this. It will be interesting to see how the numbers change over time.

no actually that income of markus is from his plentyoffish.com website, but in the case the guys at hotornot should also be included…they make(or used to make acc. to tech crunch) $500K/mont …wow top that
There should be a list of the fastest growing bloggers. I’m sure you’d be the top of the list every year. In fact they’d just take you off the list and name it the JohnChow list.
I agree, a fastest growing bloggers / blogs list would be a pretty cool list to see.
There is one constant I can see , they all worked hard in their niche and got rewarded for there hard work.
Otherwise normally I would not compare JohnChow.com to Plentyoffish ,
Blogging is working. It looks easy, but it’s working.
If you like the topic you write about, it won’t be perceived as working. But don’t think it’s easy. You’ll need to do something.

I haven’t made money like John, but it’s more than I earned at my 9-5. (Although, I made less last month due to an experiment. I took the Adsense off my biggest moneymaker??? What was I thinking?)

I just posted my earning from Google AdSense.
The page is in Chinese but I would like to tell you that I have earned $1840 from Jan. to March.
How I earn this much? Compare to John Chow’s traffic I can say I earn more than John with AdSense.

Congrats man that is pretty good. Combine that with multiple revenue streams and you’re well on your way to becoming a full time webmaster / blogger!
I’m one that made the list, although I am down near the bottom. But after kicking off my blogging late last year, I’m very happy that I’ve been able to take the tips I’ve learned from some of the top bloggers to begin making a little bit of money.
While I’m nowhere near the levels of John or the other top blogs, you can make money from your blog. Just be prepared for hard work and have a lot of patience.
