Make Money Online with Entrecard
Entrecard, the startup of Graham Langdon, continues to grow. It recently passed 5,000 active widget members and enjoys an Alexa rank of 1,547. The growth can be credited to continuing improvement to the system and adding tons of new features. One of the newest feature will allow members to sell their credit for cold hard cash.
The credit selling feature will be rolled out in stages. For the the first stage, Entrecard is just collecting information on how much members are willing to buy and sell credits for. To access your buy/sell settings, click on “Exchange settings” on your Entrecard dashboard. From there, you can enter the volume you have to sell or want to buy and your desired price.

Entrecard ask that you enter realistic amounts so that they can get a reasonable feel for the prices involved. In other words, don’t do what I show in the above screen shot.
This is a good move on Entrecard’s part because the inability to make money for members has been its Achilles heel. That could all change with the card exchange market. Members wishing to sell their credits for cash instead of buying advertising from other members may do so.
Entrecard continues to be a good source of traffic for new and low traffic blog. It’s pretty much the only way they can get an ad on this blog and Problogger without spending hundreds of dollars. Adding a system to allow members to sell their credits for cash should entice more sites to join the system.
I wonder how much I should sell my 10,982 credits for?

Reply to this commentjust another way to make money online this is pretty cool I never really liked it entrecard becuase the traffic stinks but at least you get to see your banner on johnchow.com
Reply to this commentSeeing your banner on John Chow is definitely a plus
Seeing your banner on other popular blogs is great too! It is usually tough to get an advertising spot because of the heavy demand for certain blogs. Most of my Entrecard traffic does have a high bounce rate, but there are things you can do to lengthen Entrecarders visit to your site. I wrote an article called “How To Trap Entrecard Droppers” that you may want to check out
Reply to this commentmeh… I’m not a big fan. looks like another fad
Reply to this commentInteresting concept, this EntreCard. I always wondered how those little links got on your page John and I guess it’s my own stupidity for not noticing the big “Entrecard” graphic right next to it.
I best be checking that link out so I can get on Johnchow.com, too

Reply to this commenthttp://SiteHoppin.com
I think I prefer beer to EC’s. Dropping cards is not worth my time. I calculate from eBay that an EC credit is worth 6/10ths of a penny!
Reply to this commentI saw your site, and I think you have a great system going (power dropping on the sites with an above-the-fold-placed entrecard and a fast load time).
Reply to this commentDefinitely Walt, Power Dropping comes in handy for those who want to rack up more credits in short periods of time
Reply to this commentSell it for 100 bucks
Reply to this commenthaha. Thats low
Reply to this commentGraham’s a genius. I knew this would happen. The Entrecard is going to become the currency of the blogosphere, and he’ll be in control. I’m so jealous…
Reply to this commenthey, don’t get joulous now… just get drunk like me.
Reply to this commentI don’t think it will. I wrote a blog post on my blog about an inherent flaw in the Entrecard system. It has a flawed valuation system. It will not become any source of currency.
Reply to this commentI think I’m going to use Entrecard now.
Reply to this commentHow easy is it to install the entrecard on my blog? I’m new to this and I don’t know much about HTML…
Reply to this commentIt’s just a copy and paste piece of code. Very easy to install.
Reply to this commentYup I agree with John, only copy and paste,I have done it on previous occassion.
Reply to this commentCheers
It’s real easy. Follow their instructions. If I did it, you can do it. E-mail me if you have any problems.
Reply to this commentANYBODY KNOW WHY MY OLD ENTRECARD LOGO STILL COMES UP WHEN I GET THE CODE FOR THE WIDGET EVEN WHEN I CHANGE MY LOGO???
Reply to this commentI think you should post that on Entrecard Forum here for faster response:
Reply to this commenthttp://entrecard.com/forums
Yeah, Entrecard is great with user feedback. They respond very quickly.
Reply to this commentThey do that to keep you from requesting an ad spot and then changing your landing page or logo. Your logo will change when all your present advertising runs out.
Reply to this commentYeah, I’ve had this happen too. It will take a short bit of time. Like Alan mentioned, when your advertising runs out, it will change over to the new one! You’ve just got to wait it out
Reply to this commentGraham can survey all he wants to survey but the likely fact is that Ebay will set the market price for Entrecards.
You can buy them on there very, very cheaply.
Reply to this commentGood point Bill. Even if Graham does survey, E-bay won’t change because of it
Reply to this commentHey, John, nice post!
I just wanted to mention real quick that the Entrecard blog is now written by a team of about 15 bloggers, and covers anything and everything going on in the Blogosphere. Be sure to check it out!
Reply to this commentThe hyperinflation has already started… opening them up as currency is going to inflate them even more.
Reply to this commentWhat if Graham sets a market price? Well, I am not an economic expert, anyone an expert on that area?
Reply to this commentThey’re already inflated as it is. I wrote a post about this. Look at the blogs under the category “Make Money Online.” They’re valued at over 700 EC credits!! John’s blog is around 200. Granted, he doesn’t do reciprocal drops. Yet, still, Entrecard has so system for communicating the traffic for each blog and, thus, cannot tell you which blogs are worth the advert price.
Reply to this commentI have been using Entrecard on my blog for about a month now. It has been great for traffic. I don’t think I will sell my credits though, I like being able to buy advertising on many different blogs. And I am ready to buy when I can catch a spot open on your blog!
Reply to this commentI just bought one on John’s blog. I got lucky, I have to say. You have to check every day, every hour on the hour. Yeah. I have no life.
Reply to this commentThe exchange feature will surely make the process of trading credits much easier but I do agree that it is currently much cheaper at eBay.
Reply to this commentWe’ll have to see what the prices are like. There has to be a demand for them before they are worth any real value.
Reply to this commentEntrecard is probably one of the best, if not the best, method for new and low traffic blogs to get traffic and some recognition. It is also a great place to find new blogs to subscribe to.
I have to agree that it IS a great place for new blogs to get recognized. I got a lot of traffic there when I started out. Nevertheless, the quality of the traffic isn’t very good. People don’t come to your blog to read your content or comment. They come to your blog merely to drop their Entrecards and leave. Not very promising.
Reply to this commentJohn, thanks for the 10,000 EC you’re not sure what to do with
Reply to this commentCONGRATULATIONS to EC!
I think John should hold some sort of contest to give those 10,000 EC credits away.
Reply to this commentI’ve been buying entrecards from individual sellers for a couple months now… i love the site and find it brings me new unexpected readers.
Reply to this commentWhile the cash for credits feature is nice, I have to add that Entrecard has brought me visitors, readers and I now have an Alexa rating below 81k! For a blog started 12/29/2007 that ain’t bad. The best thing I have found is all the new blogs - I have become a blog addict in the past two months. I read more than blogs each day and it all started here with John Chow and his Entrecard widget. I was looking for ways to “make money online” and Google sent me here. The rest is history!
Reply to this commentSounds great Trip. Entrecard has definitely been a great way to find interesting blogs and help people find your interesting blog! Though some of the traffic can have a fairly high bounce rate, it’s a great widget to have.
Reply to this commentI’ve purchased 5,000 credits on eBay for $26, so John, I’ll give you $52 for your almost 11,000 credits.
Reply to this comment$50 for 10,000 EC credits?? That’s it????
Reply to this commentI think it’s really sad that some people are hyper focused on money.
I LOVE the entrecard community and the way it’s introduced me to some wonderful blogs and bloggers.
If adding a $$ feature helps it grow - well, so be it. I guess a diverse system allows it to appeal to the greatest range of people.
But I don’t think anything in life really needs to be ONLY about money. If it is, there must be some very empty people out there.
Reply to this commentMoney is what allows us to be free. It’s not money we’re focused on. It’s what money allows us to do…..live our lives.
Reply to this commentGotta love Entrecard! I’m not too interested in buying and selling credits. I’m in it for everything else - the blog networking has been great, and so has the traffic. 250-350 visitors per day with decent time on site.
Reply to this commentI’ve heard people claim that Entrecard works great for their site. I have had some success, but it has definitely been limited because I haven’t really been utilizing it’s full potential lately. Great to hear another story about Entrecard working well and bringing in 250 - 350 visitors per day with decent time! Great
Reply to this commentI’ve enjoyed entrecard as a network and a community - no interest in selling my credits, but eventually may buy some.
Love being able to advertise and all the new blogs I’ve found has been awesome!
Reply to this commentEntrecard is easy. I am evidence of this, as I am a total moron.
Reply to this commentthanks for you information. I will try with my blog
Reply to this comment10,982 EntreCredits, rounded up to the nearest thousand would be like say 11,000 EntreCredits.
For myself, I would really like to sell them at a rate of USD 10.00 for 1,000 EntreCredits hence for 11,000 EntreCredits, I would try to sell them at USD 110.00.
However, many folks have been selling 1,000 EntreCredits for only a meager sum of USD 5.00 so I guess 11,000 EntreCredits can be only sold for like say USD 55.00.
Not a very lucrative means of generating main stream of income via EntreCard, but it is a nice little side income nonetheless.
The real benefit of using EntreCard is not only the potential cold hard cash value, or the amount of traffic it is able to deliver, but the chance to sincerely network with other Bloggers.
Dropping 300 EntreCards daily via PowerDropping methods might be useful to gain some fast EntreCredits, but it would not benefit one in the long run at all.
Network sincerely with other like minded EntreCarders, if one have yet to do so. It is definitely worth the effort and time spent.
Reply to this commentEntrecard is excellent and I know it will get better and offer more things in the future. I’ve been around quite a while and love it. It’s brought about new readers and a lot of new friends. It’s a much more involved community than other blogging communities claim to be. If you do try it, make sure to say hi in the forums. We like that.
Reply to this commentEntrecard has given so much life to blogging the past few months. It has made it fun and given me many new blogs to read.
<3 Entrecard <3
Reply to this commentThanks for covering the ability to make money with Entrecard! While Graham is just now rolling out the Credit Exchange to facilitate the buying and selling of Entrecard Credits (EC), some of us have been selling ECs since January. I’ve personally cleared over $500 in profit so far this year from selling ECs and with the Credit Exchange there will be plenty of opportunity for bloggers to add yet another revenue stream to their blog monetization by participating in the Entrecard community.
Reply to this commentI just joined the bandwagon of selling credits and had managed to sell a few already.
Reply to this commentIt’s definitely cool that Entrecard has implemented buying and selling of credits w/ in the program. The popularity of Entrecard has skyrocketed and is continuing to grow! I may buy some creds. and do a little experiment to see how much traffic I can drive to my blog via Entrecard
Reply to this commentI think long time ago JC don’t like to use entrecard

Yeh, nice Idea from EC
Reply to this commentI’ve been blogging for three months, tried only a few things, but without a doubt, Entrecard is the best thing I have seen so far.
Reply to this commentI’m signing it for sure cool little video they got on their site to introduce the product. I wonder if I’m the only one that watched it all the way through? once again good find John.
Reply to this commenti’ll buy your 10,982 credits for 10php!

Reply to this commentI used to like EntreCard but it seemed liked nothing but useless traffic to me anymore so I removed it. Maybe it’ll progress some in the future.
Reply to this commentHopefully. I am going to try it.
Reply to this commentI won’t be one of the ones making money with accumulated EC credits because I use mine to buy ads with on other sites — which seems to me to be what the system was designed to do. I don’t know how you guys accumulate tens of thousands of credits ….. I must be doing something wrong..

Reply to this commententrecard is definately a cool thing to have … i am not selling my credits right now but maybe in the future.
Reply to this commentJohn,
If you decide to sell your credits, let us know what you sell them for! I like that Graham found a way to monetize Entrecard. It should draw more people to start an account there.

Reply to this commentAm quite excited about the pricing of EC credits. But while I’m clicking through the sites, I did found some that I really enjoy. So no big loss there if the price is not as high as proclaimed.
Reply to this commentGreat post. I wanted to find out what entrecard is. Lots of people giving away in contests.
Reply to this commentEntrecard has not only helped boost the traffic to our site, but it has also allowed us to find some great blog sites out there that we wouldn’t have known about. If you put in the hard work, you will start to get to know other bloggers and it has a great community of people.
Reply to this commentInteresting. So far, Entrecard is my best source of traffic and thanks to it, I have a lot of interesting subscribtions in my RSS.
Reply to this commentIt does really help for new bloggers.
Reply to this commentPriority is a definite factor. Would you rather hoard credits and let your site be “isolated” from the blogosphere? or worse, Will you risk catching john chow’s widget suddenly ‘available’ after weeks of staking out at his entrecard page but, omg, you dont have credits because you sold them all!
As for those who arent happy with the bounce rate, think of it as a bus full of tourists passing by a remote souvenir shop in a foreign country. Some look around and leave because they’re not interested, some stay to buy then leave ASAP and some take your calling card and befriend you so you can have a business deal (export-import) in the future.
A good way to keep the traffic will be to place your most arresting ads around the widget.
Reply to this commentNow that this post is a few days old, I would be intereste in hearing from new entrecard signer-uppers and how it has/hasn’t worked for them.
Reply to this commentAnother way to earn some money.
