Making An Impact At The Impact Event

Today, I made a presentation at The Impact Event in Los Angeles. The event was held at Hyatt Regency Century Plaza. It’s the hotel where most of the US Presidents speak and stay when in LA.

Parking in LA is bloody expensive (even worst at hotels like the Hyatt), but I was running late so I decided to just use the hotel’s valet parking. I told the valet that I’ll be about three hours. He gave me a claim tickets and I went and did my speech.

When I got back, I noticed that instead of parking my car in the lot, the hotel had it on display at the front entrance. Because the car wasn’t put in the lot, I didn’t have to pay for parking! I just gave the valet a tip and drove off.

I guess not paying for hotel parking is one of the perks of driving a $120,000 car. Here are some pics from The Impact Event. It goes until Sunday if you want to come check it out.

Pretty cool you didn’t pay for parking John.

As a good hotel I was thinking there’s no parking fees :D

It’s not the hotel, it’s the location. If they were to offer free parking at their hotel, everyone and their dog would try to park there. There is no such thing as free parking in downtown LA!

we miss the matter you gave in your presentation that you could have placed here as slide show for blogging learners like me.

John Chow March 17, 2013 at 11:12 am

Unfortunately, the Impact Event was a private event for the people who were there only. I can’t post the slides here.

I see that The Impact Event was well attended and your presentation was successful (as always)!

Wow John, but if you are driving a $120000 car you never think about valet charges!

John Chow March 17, 2013 at 11:03 am

No, I was thinking about the parking charges. lol

Yeah its pretty cool that you can avoid car parking charges, but I wouldnt fancy paying your gas bill for a car like yours!

Even In the US fuel prices are increasing fast arent they?

Will any content from your presentation be posted here for us all to enjoy? (I will be keeping an eye on my email inbox just in case!)

Anyway just letting you know that I was felling really inspired by your “Dare to Dream” video last week, and so I made a post about it on my own blog with a few words about my own simple dreams (plus another video beneath yours from a Honda advert featuring the song “The impossible dream” sung by Andy Williams that I always liked!)

The SL takes premium gas which currently cost around $4.30 a gallon. The last fill up cost me $80! :( But if you’re going to spend $120K+ on a car, the cost of gas shouldn’t be much of a concern. :)

Living in a small city, I rarely have to deal with parking fees. On the flip side, I don’t have as many opportunities (for jobs, networking, business development, etc.).
