This was a very well written review, Michael. As a RE professional and member of AR, I DID catch the meaning of ActiveRain immediately - but that comes with the territory.
Second, I also wish that there was a Canada map.
Finally, although I agree that the "dashboard" looks a bit lopsided, I like the minimalistic layout. Why? Well, it levels the playing field for the superior content no creativity types. And it IS a content driven site...

Excellent review! A few disagreeing points:

The top webloggers on Active Rain are actually some of the most busy; they're highly organized and committed to marketing online.

I can personally attest to a 35% increase in production and a 300% increase in online inquiries from my involvement there. The surprising part?

It's not gen Y. I was told that I would be attracting mostly the under 30 consumer. The consumer I see from online inquiries who attest that they read about me online is closer to 40; my age.

The inactive members are probably NOT at the top of their game; they may be new to the community, reticent about writing, or as I've found out from a few calls to professionals in San Diego, out of the industry

Thanks Gregg for the typo fix. And yes, this was John's ReviewMe and he outsourced. Let's just say that I didn't get the full cut.

Hmmm... looks like my comments got cut off... I had said that it wasn't too long for me, as I am currently working on a career change to real estate appraising, and so I was curious about the site.

Also wanted to point out that my fingers worked this time and I didn't mis-spell your name. Sorry about that, fixed it on my blog!

So am I right in guessing that this was John's ReviewMe, and he outsourced it to you? Probably after he found out how many words it was supposed to be? Will the evil never cease?

Thanks Gregg! I'll make sure my next review doesn't read like a novel/essay... wait, I've already said too much.
