In todays world a lot of marriages are done for a matter of conveience so why not businesses do the same as well. If this is truth or more of just Yahoo and Microsoft both jousting for some press time, then it would indeed be a bit of a pain for google or a nice little thorn in the side, but I don't think google would run scared, they didn't get where they are today by laying back and waiting for things to happen, they take action hit people before they know what's up.
