MSI Night at New York, New York

written by John Chow on June 6, 2008

Make money with YouTube

We headed off to New York, New York for a party with MSI. No, not the New York, New York in the USA. You see, Taipei has a New York, New York as well, complete with its own mini statute of liberty.

MSI is a leading manufacturer of motherboards and other computer components. They’ve recently entered the mini notebook race with the new MSI Wind. Of all the sub notes I’ve seen at Computex, the Wind is the one I would buy. The best thing I like about the Wind is the full size keyboard. I couldn’t get use to the small keyboard used by the Asus EeePC. As luck with have it, MSI was giving away a Wind to one lucky party goer.

In addition to the Wind contest, the MSI party features great food, live cover band, MSI dancers and a beer drinking contest. Overall, a very fun event.

Yo john, you’ve been partying around everyday right?
You’re having a real fun time in Taipei!
Do you go every year?

John Chow June 7, 2008 at 3:43 am

I’ve been going to Computex since 2004.

Terry Tay June 8, 2008 at 7:59 pm

Does it get better and better each year or have other years been better?

Unlucky in the contest although I thought the other bloke cheated, there should have been a time penalty each time you dropped the ball.

Thiago Prado June 7, 2008 at 5:01 am

In the game of blow the ball through the glass of water, in my opinion if the ball fall you have to go to the beginning. In you turn the ball didn’t fall and he dropped 2 twice. Totally unfair.

conrad June 7, 2008 at 5:53 am

I was just writing that, when i looked up and saw your comment.. i was going to say you should lose when your ball falls but starting over is just as fair.. stupid.. you should have imo

Terry Tay June 7, 2008 at 7:37 pm

Yep, they should have had some type of rules specified – or maybe they did – but I think John should have won based on the ball staying on the whole time.

Yeah, I agree. He should have had to start again when the ball dropped!

Look like good IT party, nice John!

Affiliate Confession June 7, 2008 at 6:38 am

Not into drinking beer like that any longer, even though it wasn’t serious chugging. About 4 of those beers that quick and I’d be blowin chunks.

Terry Tay June 7, 2008 at 7:41 pm

That one guy ending up blowing chunks after doing the final. Not exactly the way you want to impress the girls at a party

Hey John, did “blowing chunks guy” win the chug contest or was it a draw?

Blowing balls and blowing chunks party

Aw John, can’t believe you lost by a second! Looks like fun anyways.

Chris Jacobson June 7, 2008 at 8:14 am

The guy who won the beer contest had the gut to go along with it.

I Got Rich at PPC June 8, 2008 at 9:51 pm

Yeah, he definitely looked he has a few years of training up his sleeve.

Noobpreneur June 7, 2008 at 9:09 am

John,

Sound like a great fun! MSI is not that ‘owning’ the market anymore, doesn’t it?

Apoorv June 7, 2008 at 9:52 am

Great exhibition John :D

Patrick June 7, 2008 at 10:15 am

Cool video! I especially like the dancing girls!

G.Smith June 7, 2008 at 12:56 pm

You should have won the notebook John. The other guy dropped the ball twice and should have had to start over or been disqualified.

Gary Gregory June 7, 2008 at 3:18 pm

Man all this technology in one place. John, you look like a kid in a candy store!

Ronald Su June 7, 2008 at 4:02 pm

Nice party. Are these parties invite only?

John Chow June 7, 2008 at 5:33 pm

All the parties are invite only.

Terry Tay June 7, 2008 at 7:46 pm

The only thing I don’t like about the food like that at parties is it’s wide open and anything that’s floating around in the air, falling off people’s clothes or hair, goes into the food. If you’re eating early it’s somewhat ok but late comers are getting the extra “toppings”

Maybe that’s why the guy was blowing chunks..too much toppings
~Terry

Chris June 7, 2008 at 7:57 pm

But, his ping pong ball fell down! MSI is popular for its graphic cards and mobo’s. Like Mr. Chow, I prefer Gigabyte over MSI though. Rock on. I love this blog.

Mike Huang June 8, 2008 at 10:59 pm

Dang, if only you blew quick and just let it fall off the cup :) It would be funny if your buddy had to start all over for dropping the ball.

As for the shirt…you’re just an evil evil man lol.

-Mike

p.s. They should hire more energetic dancers..

wong June 8, 2008 at 11:50 pm
