My 2008 Plans Does Not Include This

People do different things to welcome the New Year. In Vancouver, thousands take to the English Bay beach for the New Year Polar Bear Swim. I never did that because I can never wake up in time for it.

Another thing I won’t be doing is what Robbie Maddison did to welcome 2008. Robbie took his motorcycle and jumped it 322 feet. That’s longer than a football field. And if that wasn’t crazy enough, he did it twice! I guess he felt the first time wasn’t scary enough. Robbie must subscribe to the old saying, “You only truly live when you’re know you’re about to die.”

Crazy!

I hate to nitpick, but 322 feet is not longer than a football field. A football field is 120 yards (100 yards of neutral area, and two 10 yard endzones). That's 360 feet =]

Best luck to all in 08!

Trully amazing how he can run all the sites AND goto school!

Awesome
I could almost feel the adrenalin while watching that replay with camera on bike.
Fucking Ghost Rider...

That's completely insane and then he goes and does it twice. That's a risk though that I would never take.

Not once, but twice. That is simply amazing. Looks fun but I'd never do it. I like life too much ;)

Watching that video put a smile on my face. That man was absolutely fearless! Awesome!

John, if they aren't your plans for 2008. What are your plans for 2008 :?:

I'd say it's safe to assume that making more money is on top of his priority list in 2008 rather than motorcycle jumps :)

Alan Johnson

I would really like to try that

Too crazy for me

March 29th, 2008 - Mark Your Calendars!

Why? Although Robbie blew us away the Custy Demons will be breaking this record and nine others, or try at least  on that date. My blog is related and I covered this story, make sure you have your TiVo ready - Crusty Demons

btw - John, now you're covering extreme sports too? sweet!

Sorry for the triple comment, this topic turns me on! I just wanted to add that the video in the crusty demons link above is a must watch. Not only are they going for the record in distance, they'll do tricks in air on the way, they'll do it on a motorcycle, an ATV, a mini bike, a snowmobile and ...... the teaser video is a must see. INSANE comes to mind, and theres a rock concert and full MX show mixed right in.

It's shaping up to be the show of the century.

I've seen that before, it's truly amazing. You should try to link to the teaser video again.

Was this the guy that attempted to break Evel Knievel's record?

I'm pretty sure 300+ feet accomplishes that.

wow that was a huge jump. Was it televised live?

That's so crazy! But well done Robbie!!

Saw that already - totally crazy!

How did he do that?

He went very fast along a large track and up a large ramp with the speed and motion keeping him going through the year onto the other ramp

Wow that was mad! but what he said is true about life/death

Holy crap!

Man I can never go swimming in super cold weather that doesn't give people a rush, it just make you really cold so I will stick to blogging that gives me my adrenalin rush

Have you tried that motobike, John? :)

WOW! That's amazing!

-Mike

I guess I've seen those things in the news. Funny what people do in the New Year. Well, I've stopped making resolutions because I keep breaching them myself. Maybe I should try riding a motorcycle in that way. Happy new year, John and thanks for visiting my site.

Man that was crazy, I use to own a R6, fastest I ever took it up too on the street was 135 Mph. I still dunno how peepz can ride it maxed out at 170+

So it happened at the Rio in Vegas. Will be there Sunday for CES.

There is no way in Hades.
~putting on a helmet and strapping myself to my desk... you know, just to be on the safe side~

I won’t buy that motorcycle..

Whoa ...
Awesome...
I won't buy that motorcycle..

John is too tall for these motorbike stunts.

John, I can see you doing that. Maybe if you hit $30,000 in one month you can't do a motorcycle stunt for us? Oh wait, $30,000 is way too realistic.

-Andrew

Since ShoeMoney is currently hitting $30k/month John will be wanting to beat him and by the end of 2008 i think he will be around $35-45k/month.

you only live once, why not experience something new

Because you might not experience anything new after that if you don't land the freaking jump.

haha, very true.

But I think everyone should take risks, it makes life more exciting.

Please make a video of your jumping experiment, since you like taking risks like that.

Dang thats pretty crazy

John - I don't blame you. There is no way I would want to swim with Polar bears either.

I think that's the craziest thing i'll ever do.. i wanna live for so long..

Well John, I'd personally recommend limiting yourself to making money online...though I'm sure that some of your "fans" out there wouldn't mind seeing you try Robbie Maddison's welcome gesture for 2008 and fail :)

Alan Johnson

People are not that envy at John that they want to see him falling from the sky.

You'd be surprised as to exactly how far human envy can go :)

Alan Johnson

He actually did a practice jump earlier in the day and went 350. I have to agree that is not something I would ever plan to do.

I've gotta say, I don't think I'd give it a second go. If I landed it the first time and managed not to die, I'd call it good.

I can't imagine what a great feeling can be when you land without any trouble.
