My BlogRush Version 2 Stats

BlogRush Version 2 went live today with new and improved stat reporting. I figure I would use it to share how BlogRush is performing for me. When BlogRush was giving just temp stats I wasn’t able to see how much traffic, if any, it was sending me or how many total credits I have build up. All that information is now available.

For those who don’t know what BlogRush is, or need a refresher, you can read my first post about BlogRush here. By adding the BlogRush Widget to your blog, you get distribution for your latest blog post titles across a network of related blogs. BlogRush users earn credits based on their own traffic as well as the traffic of other users they refer to BlogRush.

My BlogRush Stats

As you can see, I have a huge credit balance with BlogRush. Now that the system has been cleaned of spam blogs, BlogRush should be serving out my credits and I should get a nice flood of traffic.

The Importance of Controlling The BlogRush Headline

Looking at the traffic BlogRush has sent me, I can tell you it’s extremely important that you control the headline that shows up in the BlogRush widget. I have two John Chow dot Com blogs registered with BlogRush. One lists all the current posts and one list only posts that I want to show up.

In the first case, my click rate was a pretty pathetic 0.1%. However, I was able to get 0.3% click rate by using controlled headlines. My credit balance with BlogRush is 7.8 million. That’ll be over 23,000 visitors at 0.3% click rate. BlogRush now allows you to delete blogs from your account and I have removed the John Chow dot Com blog that was showing all my posts and left the blog that allows me to control the headline.

I wrote a post on how to control your BlogRush headline back in September. I recommend you read it if you want to get the most out of BlogRush.

sofa! 😈 (sorry John, i just can’t help it)

    1. I am not Chinese and i dont understand 😕 Pleeeeez explain sofa?

  2. Domtan says:

We’re still not big fans of blogRush enough to apply it on our blog. Perhaps in the future. But not anytime soon.

    1. I gave them a second try, but i will definitively not give them a third time if I see things suck big time. Also thought bout giving them a push and wrote about the new version but have it postponed for tomorrow (as I know most of my readers don’t like blogrush).

      1. Domtan says:

How’s BlogRush working out for your site, any good?

        1. Nope not really, after I removed the widget i was getting some clicks (but nothing much, like 1-2 visitors every 2 days) but those clicks were thanks to the credits I had. Now i am giving them another chance for a month or so, if it won’t work oh well, you know the rest.

  3. Simonne says:

Too bad they flushed lots of good blogs together with the spam. It’s good to see that at least somebody gets something out of this BlogRash 😳

  4. that is some good stats, but a really bad click rate!

    1. Where is the click rate?

  5. bob cobb says:

Its pretty much only worth it for big blogs like yours who have a ton of referrals

    1. Looks like Referrals definately make it worth it. Do you need the widget on your blog just using referal credit?

  6. On my blog, I went from .01% to about 0.4% CTR when I started controlling the headlines as per your tips. Not bad at all!

    1. Thats a pretty good increase.

  7. Mike says:

    Cool Blogrush stats!

  8. Pam Hoffman says:

The one thing you might consider – the Bonus Credits are going to the blogs with less traffic.

The whole point is to deliver traffic and John Reese seem in earnest.

I’m sticking with for the duration. I have a boatload of those Bonus Credits since I could finally check and I even have some referred blogs!

Maybe if you have a lot of traffic already, it won’t serve you as well. I think It will serve me very well.

Well, I considered giving BlogRush the BumRush, but I’ve decided to hang in there. I’ve received a few referrals via the widget. Think I’ll take your advice and control the feed.

  10. I wish my BlogRush stats looked like that.

Affiliate links out the ass… 😐

  12. BeachBum says:

I have an idea for a parody site. BlogFlush Instead of showing headlines it could show the last 5 words or something odd like that.

I like JR, but figured Blog Rush is just like a traffic exchange site and passed on it.

  13. Turk Hit Box says:

    23,000 * 0.3 = 69
    I am sorry, but I wouldn’t make a post about 70 visitors 🙂

    1. Turk Hit Box says:

      sorry, I meant 23,000 /100 * 0.3 = 69

      1. 7.8M * 0.3% = 23,400

  14. nickycakes says:

Yep, blogrush still pretty much the biggest failure in blogging history.

  15. whydowork says:

Time to go back to the drawing board.

It was a good concept but there’s got to be a better way than in its present form. Blogrush will die a painful death if that is the avg. ctr.

    1. John Chow says:

0.3% is actually pretty good. It’s higher than the industry average click rate for a banner ad.

  16. whydowork says:

I suppose..but in it’s current form it’s going to be tough for the bloggers who don’t have millions of credits.

I’d just like to see more from Blogrush. Their current implementation would have worked about five years ago. With ad blindness provene to be increasing every day a design that isn’t clever won’t do.

Why not make the widget blend with content? I’d wager that if you were able to place a widget that was blended, between comments horizontally you’d get 10 times the current CTR.

    You’re a betting man, aren’t you? 👿 😆

  17. Raymond says:

    Hi John,

Is there any secrets to get the figure in your stats ?

    I’m impressed.

    1. Etienne Teo says:

Raymond,To get that amount you need referrals and high traffic for your own blog, i guess that is how you can get millions of credits, same goes for problogger.

  18. MaxBlogPress says:

That’s awesome to see just controlling the headline and showing the relevant posts increased your click rate by three times.

I have taken that idea and created a wordpress plugin called:BlogRush Click Maximizer.

This allows you to control what you want to display in BlogRush. You can even write alternate – short and catchy title just for BlogRush.

You will have total control of what appears over the BlogRush Network.

  19. GettyCash says:

    That’s very impressive! 😮

  20. Etienne Teo says:

For me, it is nono blogrush still. To be honest if i were to leave a comment that is at least 300 words here at john chow, i might get more referral than what blogrush is giving me. 😉

  21. That amount of credits is pretty insane. You seem to be having better luck spending them than others tho.

  22. Danny Duncan says:

Hmmm… Let’s see if I have this right.

Blogrush owes you… 7.8 million credits.
It’ owes Darren at ProBlogger… 6.5 million credits.
From your stats, it appears your getting around 53,000 new impressions each day.

Do you really think the widget shows enough to distribute these credits? NO NO NO

Let’s just use you and Darren.

In total you two have over 14,000,000 credits in the bank.

If Blogrush DID just give you two your proper credits, that would mean it would have to distribute an EXTRA 39,000 a day…

Plus… don’t forget you are getting 53,000 NEW EVERY DAY!!!
Let’s assume Darren is getting only 50,000 NEW EACH DAY, that’s a total of 83,000 credits plus… the 39,000….

Again this is assuming they breakdown the bank payback over the course of a whole year.

This means between the two of you, blogrush must show YOUR blog post 122,000 a day!!!

If this is just with two people, when you multiply that over thousands of people mathematically it does not compute!!!

Anyone with me on this or did I calculate wrong? I don’t think so.

I don’t say this much, but “IT’S IMPOSSIBLE”

I don’t care who you are, math is math.

      1. Teejay says:

        Yes. It’s very interesting.

  23. nickycakes says:

Sorry, but what you’re looking at is pretty much the best stats anyone will ever see from blogrush. The truth is, with the space taken up by blogrush, you could sell adspace to some idiot and then buy ppc traffic with that money for cheaper, tbh.

  24. Jeez, thats’ a lot of stats to swallow, take me some time.

  25. Nick says:

If my BlogRush stats had looked like that, I would have kept it around.

    1. I sure as hell would.

  26. Will says:

seems like it helps popular blogs get even more traffic than smaller ones.

    1. Pretty much how it works. The rich get richer.

  27. rocker dish says:

they dont give me any traffic………still i am with them………….y? i dont know

  28. Michael says:

The Blogrush video was very interesting. It was especially encouraging for the little guys (like myself) that are trying to bring in some more readers. I’m confident that this system will turn out to be a success.

  29. Impressive stats for BlogRush. I’ve only tried it on one of my less important blogs and haven’t really had much success with it so I’d pretty much forgotten about it until I saw this post. After seeing your results I’m going to give it a shot on one of my more popular blogs and see what happens.

  30. i heard a lot of mixed reviews on blogrush
but i like the look and concept
maybe its one google will snap up next, could be on a winner there!
