My Name Is My Domain List

written by John Chow on March 7th, 2007

Time for another Evil Blog Promotion Idea. This one comes from my friend Gary Lee. Gary was inspired by the Tech List and came up with a “My Name Is My Domain” list. To be included in the list, your name and your domain name must be the same. Having your name as the domain is one of the requirement for Dot Com Mogul status.

Like the Tech List, you reproduce the original list and then add up to three other blogs with domain names that are the same as the owners. Then let those added blogs know and tell them to do the same thing. Eventually, the list will spread all over the Internet and drive Technorati crazy. let’s see how many people we can get banned!

***Start Copying Here***

1) Write a short introduction paragraph about what how you found the list and include a link to the blog that referred you to the list.

2) COPY the ENTIRE List below and add it to your blog. To avoid duplicate content and increase the amount of keywords your site can accessible for, go ahead and change the titles of the blog. Just don’t change the links of the blog.

3) Take “My Adds” and move them into the “My Originals” list.

4) Add 3 Brand New Narcissistic Bloggers that you know of

My Adds:

Bob Buskirk
Jon Waraas
David Lithman

The Originals:

Gary Lee
Ed Lau
John Chow dot Com
Nate Whitehill
Stephen Fung
Michael Kwan
Jeff Kee
Stuart Hannig
Hannes Johnson
Nomar
Nathan Drach
Saman Sadeghi

***Stop Copying Here***

The original list had Kumiko Suzuki in it but I removed her. While Kumiko has her name in the URL, the domain belongs to Blogger. Sorry Kumiko. Get KumikoSuzuki.com and then you can join the fun.

Man, we’re so getting banned from Technorati…

Your blog doesn’t qualify! You’re an EdEdition.com, not an EdLau.com or an EdwinLau.com

haha
one can only hope to get enough backlinks to get banned from technorati
then we can just be evil and pretend like we dont know what happened and technorati will give us our rankings back
right john?
lol

What you realy want is your surname and sub domain it for your whole family, like johh.chow.com then your mail address would be john@chow.com, far cooler.

Ha, that’d be pretty neat. Too bad Kwan.com is already taken :???:

too bad wong.com is taken too. The domain hoggers sure know the worthiness of surnames, and they just won’t give them up!

People have been registering their names and hosting sites under them for around 15 years, its an old idea ….

It is nothing new really. Just that the combination of your first name and last have to be pretty unique to grab yours.

It is akin to holding a piece of virtual property in your hands. You may not know it, but there may be others who have the same name as you do. So.. Why not grab it fast?

Gary Lee said on March 7th, 2007 at 4:31 pm

yes . . i totally agree . . the person who has my name as their domain is currently a evangelist in the hispanic community . . .

Fast, fast would have been many years ago, now is too late, for surnames at least, unless you have a really wierd name, or stick numbers on the end.

I registered the surname of a friend a couple of years ago and gave it to him. He never used it and its now up for grabs again, gutted I have a more common surname, I would love to have my surname for my mail address.

Look at my nickname in my blog and you could do nice things if the pronunciation only could do.

lyndonmaxewell said on March 7th, 2007 at 9:08 pm

Well, it is irritating if they aren’t making use of the name at all isn’t it? If they are hoarding, is it the name of someone famous?

A lot of “name” domains are used for E-mail only, they are using them, just not hosting sites with them.

I qualify for that list, but I don’t know 3 more people with their own domains. So I’ll pass, unless someone wants to use me, and force me to go hunting!

You don’t have to list three. Just list up to three. You can just list yourself. :)

Actually, the original Gary Lee list was ‘My Name Is *IN* My Domain’ - so I do qualify under his list. But if you want to change the list, that’s cool. A free link from JC is worth more to me!
