MyAvatars for MyBlogLog Plugin Broken

written by John Chow on May 19, 2007

Make Money!

I have turn off the MyAvatars for MyBlogLog plugin because all the images are broken. The WordPress Plugin shows MyBlogLog avatars in the comments and allows you to put a face to the commentators. However, MyBlogLog must have made a change in their system recently because the avatars no longer show up. Instead, you just get a broken image.

I assume the broken images are caused by MyBlogLog moving their user avatars to a new location. That’s really too bad because I really liked the MyAvatars plugin. Hopefully, the creator of the plugin will post an update and fix this problem. Then again, with the plugin disable, the blog may load faster because some commentators used really big avatars.

*Update – What do you know? The avatars are back!

Next time you have an issue with MyBlogLog, you may try Wavumi (a light "clone" of MBL)... More info on the Wavumi's Blog or Register right now, it's free and quick!

yeahh thats tru. MyBLogLog is too good for its own good.

Nice to see them back, MyBlogLog avatars make comments look much more nice !

seems to be fix...just installed this on my blog

 Happy is working...i love MyBlogLog.and this blog too..lots of good info. :)

Hey John, while your at it make a forum too. Im sure you could monetize that too! Just make it free , and throw up adsense or something.

Yup, it's up and running again; the wait wasn't so bad.

I think MyBlogLog moved all the avatar picture onto Amazon S3 service to leverage the load...

Oh... it seems the avatar plugin is once again working.

I'm looking forward to some additional features for the new versions.. Can't wait.

I like avatars for putting faces to the posts. Although I see a nipple avatar in John's MyBlogLog feed to the right.

And without avatars, how are the spam sites with pretty blond girl avatars going to get traffic?

Well darn, that's too bad. The only reason I joined MyBlogLog was too get my avatar to show up on JohnChow.com. Hahah!

John you can safely turn the plugin on now. It was offline for some time but now its back

I can see MyBlogLog avatars on my blog now

yes, have noticed that

I was going nuts yesterday thinking I had done something to screw up my blog. The Comment Email Responder Plugin I use pulls in images from MyAvatar, and I couldn't see them. They are back today though.

I FINALLY wrote my post encouraging my readers to sign up with Agloco, John! I know I'm pretty late to get started but better late than never, I hope :)

It seems to be working now.

man, I wanted to see if my face worked.

Mybloglog now can use flickr for the avatar

And here I was, just finished installing that plugging, wondering why I wasn't seeing anything, then I read this!

You should be able to see the avatars now as the plugin is now working.

I have noticed not working it and on other blogs too..

But it's working now.

It's working now!

Check my blog to see

Wow.. it really is loading a lot quicker. I liked the faces but I'm liking the speed even more. Maybe I just need to get a faster machine?

I know what you mean but I really like seeing the faces more (so I can put up with the slightly slower speed).

Anyway, hopefully John will turn his avatars back on soon as they should now be working.

Hi!

I received a message on my blog from Napolux, the MyAvatars creator and they are now working again on my blog. However, if a commentor does not have a mybloglog account, the avatar still comes up as an error.

You can use gravatars in the meantime. Gravatars used to be really popular, but has got overshadowed by mybloglog. But its still better than nothing.

My site uses gravatars. You can see it in action here.

I hope they sort it out soon, but if they don't I guess it's alright.

I was going to say something meaningful but then I didn't.

I saw that at a friend's blog too. I really liked the avatar plugin.

Sry, i meant a plugin for stats

Ahhh, i miss those pic's. Wish MyBlogLog is working on it. In btw, here's some news for you john, wordpress.com had their identical plugin for self hosted blogs.

http://wordpress.com/blog/2007/05/06/stats-plugin/

Looks like John already uses that Plugin. Notice the smiley face at the bottom of the page.

I also noticed it. Hopefully they(Mybloglog) notice it too. :???:

ya i have been noticing this..

I noticed the problem here. But then thought that it might not be any problem.
Now i realize

Yeah, I noticed it first on my blog! But then I thought I had got something wrong. When I saw it here, I began to wonder.

Hopefully it will be fixed!

Kenneth :???:

Without the images, you really notice all the SEO optimized handles a lot more!

I'm tryin to get people to notice mine more

Hey this one is really good. I used an animated gif for some time but the fun of feeling like in the 90's is over

Well, the images are back so you don't have to notice it as much.
