Net Income with John Chow dot Com

For those who missed the live broadcast of me taking over Net Income with Jeremy Schoemaker, Webmaster Radio has put up the link to the MP3 file.
Everyone who listened in on the live broadcast last Tuesday knew the show experienced technical problems at around the the 35 minute mark and went off the air. If you want to hear what happened during the rest of the show, you can now find out. It’s really good, especially toward the 50 minute mark when the cow got mad at us.
I had a really good time hosting the show. I am looking forward to doing it again. I’ve been talking to Nate Whitehill, Ed Lau and Greg Morgan and we think it would be a cool idea to add podcasting or video casting to this blog. We had a blast making those videos for Ed and Michael’s hockey blog contest. We may do another video after next Saturday’s Dot Com Pho.

It was a good show, you sounded very confident and informed. Not so sure about Greg’s idea about ripping off other folks work though. The ‘cow’, well he is a cow after all can’t expect much there.
I hope to see the implimentation of podcast on this site, that would be really great.

It’s sometimes easier to just listen than read from web sites so I like videos and podcasts. You can do simple work at the same time when listening shows like this!

I liked it. It would be nice to have more ‘blog gossip’ about what is going on in the blogging/make money online niche. It would make it fun listening for sites I read (or author :p) getting a mention.

Podcasting sounds like an interesting idea, but since I mostly ready at work (with no sound) or at home while the other half is watching tv, I wish people would put up transcriptions or at least tell us the juicy bits in text

Sounds like you all had a great time and only a couple of dodgy microphone moments. The idea of ripping of people e-books and selling them until you get caught had me in stitches. Some ideas are just best kept to yourself!
Does anybody have any recommendations for a good mic that doesn’t make you sound like your eating it, I need to do some demos and mine is rubbish?
If you find a good one, let me know.
As pathetic as it might sound, my 13 year old Apple Microphone for my Performa 550 is still one of the best mics I’ve ever used. Then again, that might be a bit too old school
CAD GXL2400 Condenser Microphone. I heard it’s one of the better mics you can get under a few hundred dollars, so I got one.
It came to just over $100 with shipping (Cali to Van) from Big Planet Audio (recommended!).
Super clean recording! Though you’ll need a mixer or preamp…might be too intense for some.

Can’t say I think BC Marketing will be successful. How long before Alexa/Digg/etc. shut you down and/or ban everyone who uses your site?
Also its unlikely Alexa doesn’t check your IP so refreshing the page a million times won’t work. If you want to be a jerk and game the system, send a script to your sitemap to visit every page on your site once a day, and even better anonymize your IP addresses while you’re at it. You’ll artificially inflate your Alexa rank in a few days.
Sorry for the rant..i’m not a huge fan of trying to game systems

You can’t start a podcast without my involvement. I’m not even joking.
I have to listen to this at home… now I dont have time
I have not been getting Net Income (and several other webmasterradio shows) updating in my iTunes for a long time. I just deleted Net Income and re-subscribed and the latest show I see is 7/2.
Did they stop distributing via iTunes? Has anyone else fixed/solved this if it’s a problem on my end?

Please do consider doing podcats rather thna jining the zoo of Webmaster Radio. That service is much too racous and filled with inane ads, theme music, repetitive jingles etc. If I wanted a noisy radio yapping in the background I’d by a $19 Wal*mart junker and give up my $1900 computer. Individual MP3’s with the subjects doing the talking is what is needed, not a noisy ripoff of a dead commercial medium .. or so I opine.
BTW, notice how Webmasterradio was so hung up on their “cutesy” .fm TLD that they didn’t bother to grab webmasterradio.com? The .com is a sleazy MFA site … big mistake … how many people think about typing in .fm??? Sites that undersatnd ecommerce have a .com at the end, period. Sites that don’t get it … well, they don’t get it
