AdBrite is testing out a new video ad service that looks very interesting. Among its features are:

  • Fully customizable video player, easy-to-use, and 100% free
  • Brand your videos with your own custom logo “watermark”
  • “Split-screen” ads engage users without interrupting viewing experience
  • Sharing features promote your site when your videos get “viral”
  • Earn money from your videos, even when they’re embedded into other peoples’ Web sites

Right now, I post all my videos to YouTube and don’t get paid for it. InVideo looks like a very compelling service. Why make nothing with YouTube when you can make some cash with InVideo? Popular videos can end up making a killing as other websites and blogs start to embedded the videos. The problem I see is; would other sites embed a video if there was an ad in it?

Mr. Pud, Founder of AdBrite, made the following video to explain his new service. It’s definitely something to keep an eye on.

The question that begs to be asked here is: What about content ownership, if I was greedy enough I could go youtube d/l all the top videos and than reupload them, how could you prove ownership?

I see a whole can of worms popping up over this!!!

Oh, and another thing! You get paid on how many times its fully played or just push the play button once?

This is all so confusing dammit.

One of the things I have treasured is YouTube’s ability to show me video without any advertising. One of the reasons why I dumped C|Net videos along with MSNBC.com videos.

Personally, I would find ad-free “clips” on a blog more enticing to watch than having to watch an ad and then the actual video.

This video is blocked by my ad blocker whereas youtube and google video don’t get blocked. That will affect views I expect.

I guess this seems like a good idea that Adbrite is testing out.

As with any new introduction there would be the kind of problems that Mubin mentions but I dont think its too difficult to overcome them.

I wonder what they will use to prevent “play back fraud”???

How do they figure out when/how to pay you?

    Is it flash based?

Sometimes when I watch a good video I like to show it to people ALOT!

So lets say that the same video is played about 30 times from the same I.P., what happens than?

I think this may be possible in the near future but Im not sure I see this coming to fruit within the next year.

I like the fact that it doesn’t screw up the load time of the webpage like YouTube’s embedded player does from time to time.

Though I do like to see the video clip right away, but depending on how the ad pays and how long the ad is shown prior to the clip itself can it really be that bad?

Would this attract the biggies also - or it would just be the smaller amateurs who would be trying it out ?

I’ve been considering this service since i saw it posted on TechCrunch (I think that’s where I saw it). AWs, seems like a good idea given the fact that I like posting videos.

The ad did not seem all that intrusive at all. Plus, many (not all) videos on YouTube that are generated originally (by users) tend to sometimes have a link featured in the video (say in the credits). Not an actual clickable link, but just a credit w/a URL. In my opinion, since YouTube always lists other related videos at the end of a clip, the AdBrite idea makes sense.

People are more likely to click on something if it is seamlessly embedded. I like the concept and hope to see its development.

This actually seems very well executed, and I’d be interested in trying this out.. though it seems like so far they are hand-picking just a few publishers to get started.

If it turns out the the video ads are contextual will that mean no adsense and ads?

That could put a hamper on my plan to flood youtube with duplicate videos.

Interesting, but not really new though, Metacafe has its own free download/video player and pays for top videos. As far as I have seen, it has no ads and no custom logo watermark.

Blogcrowds, like you said, Metacafe pays for top video’s, this service seems to pay, no matter if you’ll be in the top x of their video’s - that might make them more successful I think - if they will be.

I like how the Share button here sends people to your website rather than that of the service. And also how you still get the revenue if your vid is embedded elsewhere.

That looks awesome. But if people embed this video in their site would it void the terms of service that they have with lets say Adsense?

I just had to sign up for an AdBrite account so now I’ll just keep an eye out to see how their In Video goes.

John hope you’re going to get into it more at a later time to see if it’s good or not.

I doubt InVideo will conflict with Google ads. I don’t think AdBrite has the resources it would take to make contextual video ads. Not even Google can spider video context yet.

The ad does not seem all that intrusive and it has a lot of features going for it. I really like the link back to your blog instead of the video provider and the embedded logo.
