Newport Beach Restaurant Week – Lunch at Harborside

Today is the last day of Newport Beach Restaurant week, and we decided to end it with lunch at the Harborside Restaurant and Grand Ballroom. Located inside the historic Balboa Pavilion building built in 1906, Harborside is the perfect place to enjoy a casual waterfront dinner, lunch or weekend breakfast.

The Harborside Saloon offers the “longest happy hour in town” everyday of the week from 12:00pm to 7:00pm with spectacular views of the harbor or watch your favorite sports event on one of the six flat screens.

Known for their award winning seafood and relaxed waterfront dining, Harborside exemplifies the Newport Beach lifestyle. The restaurant has a large dock so you can park you boat. Boat parking is free, but valet parking will cost you $4 to $10 depending what event is happening that night.

Harborside Restaurant Week lunch menu is a simple two-course starter and entrée affair. The starter choices include the Harborside salad, New England clam chowder, or chicken tortilla soup.

The presentation of the soups was a bit sloppy, but you have to remember that Harborside isn’t a white tablecloth fine dining restaurant. As such, they can be forgiven for splashing the soup around the edges of the plate. One taste, and you’ll forget all about the presentation. The soups and salad was really good.

For the entrée, Harborside presented us with three types of fish. The first was the roasted Red Snapper that was pan seared then oven roasted and served with lemon beurre blanc with rice pilaf and seasonal vegetables. It was perfectly cooked. Tender, but firm.

Then there was the Macadamia Nut Opakapaka (Pink Snapper) made with a macadamia nut crust, tropical fruit relish and cream sauce with red rose potatoes and seasonal vegetables. It was the biggest of the three fish dishes. The crust was nice and crunchy with excellent seasoning.

My favorite dish was the orange coconut crusted salmon rolled in shredded coconut and panko bread, then drizzled with sweet chili ginger soy glaze and served with rice pilaf and seasonal vegetables. This was one of the best salmon dishes I’ve ever had. The gaze was awesome.

I have a feeling Harborside is going to become a “go-to restaurant” for me. The location and vibe of the place just screams Dot Com Lifestyle. If you’re out on the Newport Harbor, a stop for lunch or dinner at Harborside a must. Whether you go there by boat or by car, you’ll be in for a great experience.

    My tongue started segregation while i read this passage, moreover that the place is very attractive…….
