Now This Is A Police Car

written by John Chow on April 24, 2007

How to make $593 in less than one hour

Now why can’t the Vancouver Police get anything like this? I think the only non-sedan police car they have is some riced out Honda Civic. I wonder if the police officers in the station fight over who get to drives this car?

I bet … People in the US would still try to outrun the cop if they saw that in the rear view mirror …

 Just some crazy people out there!

Dave April 24, 2007 at 5:25 pm

That would fail though!

Everyday Weekender April 25, 2007 at 7:56 pm

not unless they had the same care

Guk April 24, 2007 at 2:05 pm

Italians do it best :) .

Soultrance April 24, 2007 at 2:18 pm

Wrong-O John. The police down in Tsawwassen, near the ferry, used to run a Dodge Stealth, though I’m not sure if they use it anymore.

That was one sexy cop car.

Ed Lau April 24, 2007 at 2:38 pm

Please don’t tell me you just compared a Dodge Stealth to a Gallardo…

John: the cops here in Vancouver have a supercharged Mini and a WRX STi as far as I know.

Marc April 24, 2007 at 2:47 pm

I’ve seen pictures of a Viper police car. Can’t picture that being anywhere but the US ;)

John Chow April 24, 2007 at 3:34 pm

Oh ya, I forgot about the WRX. But I didn’t know about the blown Mini.

Soultrance April 24, 2007 at 9:51 pm

Definitely not comparing the two, no comparison to make there, was just saying there is something other then the usual Lincolns cruising the streets around here.

Never seen the WRX or Mini before, very cool.

Ed Lau April 24, 2007 at 9:55 pm

The Mini was made as part of the now defunct PACER program but is a regular cop car/show car. I know the driver well as he is an active REVscene.net user and shows up at all our meets.

Dave April 24, 2007 at 5:26 pm

Dodge =/ Lamborghini

No way, no how!

dude April 24, 2007 at 2:18 pm

I told you chow, next trip Europe :D

Great Dog Site. April 24, 2007 at 2:38 pm

The local police just got one here.

I bet it gets wrecked eventually. I doubt they can speed all around Italy and not bumb something eventually.

Marc April 24, 2007 at 2:49 pm

As for the competition as to who gets to drive it, I’ll be that if you’ve had an accident before, you’re out of the running :)

Dave April 24, 2007 at 5:26 pm

Haha no doubt marc!

Article Checker April 24, 2007 at 10:37 pm

A cop who gets speeding tickets while off-duty…he should get to drive the car.

Brendan April 24, 2007 at 2:51 pm

Ive seen cops with hummers in Jersey. And here in Goergia they have some new mustangs.

Aaron Cook April 24, 2007 at 3:41 pm

Pretty sweet ride for the fuzz over there. Too bad you won’t get a ride to the station in that baby. No back seat!

Eric April 24, 2007 at 3:48 pm

Believe it or not that car was actually a gift from Lamborghini to the Italian police. A $280,000 gift… pretty nice of them huh? I could use a gift like that.

$1,000,000

Dave April 24, 2007 at 5:27 pm

I think we call could Eric! :)

Everyday Weekender April 25, 2007 at 7:58 pm

Ma Ma Mia!.. I’m ataliano can i havea a presente porfavor?

Scott April 24, 2007 at 4:15 pm

The cops in Toronto were running a couple of stripped-down Camaro Z-28s that were basically street-legal race cars (top speed around 165 mph) but I think they have replaced them with Hemi Chargers.

Ronaldo April 24, 2007 at 4:21 pm

To chase Lamborghinis, you need a Lamborghini. I bet German cops have some Porsches.

blogdinero April 24, 2007 at 4:26 pm

I like one

Massimo April 24, 2007 at 4:41 pm

Just Marketing :) Lamborghini gave that car for free to police for PR. I guess after that video it has been parked and never used ! At least I’ve never seen a car like that used in everyday jobs by italian police :)

John Chow April 24, 2007 at 10:16 pm

Kinda like Ferrari giving the last Enzo to the Pope. Of course the Pope has no use for it.

Eric April 24, 2007 at 11:47 pm

Ahhh come on! Of course the pope has use for an Enzo! I bet he takes that thing on some back road in Rome and just lets it loose. Haha, funny mental image eh?

Picture of the pope driving his Enzo (haha)

jem5 April 25, 2007 at 11:02 am

dude, your post leads to your blog with no picture

Everyday Weekender April 25, 2007 at 8:00 pm

Wheres the pic eric?.. if you’re going to claim to have the pic then post it

mao April 25, 2007 at 5:41 am

Yeah. Especially because Vatican City doesn’t have (a lot of) roads.

Eric April 25, 2007 at 2:37 pm

So come to find out, the car was given to the pope, and sold for $1.2 million. The money was used to support the tsunami relief efforts in southeast Asia.

Marc April 25, 2007 at 3:56 pm

That sounds rather reasonable. I’m glad to hear that’s what happened. Someone who wanted an Enzo got one, the church was able to help the needy, the needy got some of the help they needed. Win, win, win.

James April 24, 2007 at 6:41 pm

Fancy police cars usually just end up at public relations specials.

Marc April 25, 2007 at 3:57 pm

Yes, but they sure do shine at those PR events :)

Randall Cornett April 24, 2007 at 8:58 pm

Wow, we really need something like this in the states. Although, I don’t think the government would actually fund something like this. How do you manage to find such a good videos? :?:

Shaun Carter April 24, 2007 at 9:17 pm

Here in Michigan, USA I see a lot of Mustangs as police cars. they have the lights built into the grille and set in the windows so you wouldn’t even know if it was a cop creeping up behind you on the expressway.

Best CD Rates April 24, 2007 at 10:27 pm

Wow thats pretty sexy.

I can’t imagine they would really use it in a car chase, though.

Tyler April 24, 2007 at 10:29 pm

Vancouver uses suped up mustangs for the TransCanada hwy :)

I’ve seen em

Article Checker April 24, 2007 at 10:40 pm

Italian police are also known for riding those posh BMW big bikes, aren’t they.

Everyday Weekender April 25, 2007 at 8:01 pm

with their speedo bottoms and no shirts right?

Simonne April 24, 2007 at 10:43 pm

Our best police cars are some VW Passat. I suppose they can’t race that, can they?

Marc April 25, 2007 at 3:59 pm

Depends what they did to the Passat

Police departments usually have significantly overpowered vehicles…

Jason April 25, 2007 at 2:46 am

This has been done a long time back. You heard about it now? :?:

Amanda April 25, 2007 at 7:06 am

We have something like that out here I don’t know how often it gets used but I know the demanded one. I think the officers just wanted to drive around in one.

Martin April 25, 2007 at 7:39 am

Hi, I’m a long lime lurker first time poster. It’s really strange you just posted about this car, as I have just posted a pic of this very car when I saw it in Rome. You can view it here:

Lamborghini Police Car

jem5 April 25, 2007 at 11:00 am

John-
You really need to come to NYC. Then we could just walk around and look in public garages at cars like this or this one…
http://tinyurl.com/2yjyun

Just had one pull in front of me on a sidewalk into a public parking garage…always think of the scene from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off with the parking attendants driving the Ferrari when I see someone parking in a garage like that.

Maybe I should get a temp job at a garage….

Court April 25, 2007 at 12:41 pm

That is one ridiculously sick police car. The police here seems to like Crown Vics a lot.

Wes Mahler April 25, 2007 at 6:01 pm

that vid won’t play for me

Amanda April 26, 2007 at 1:17 pm

did you try using another browser?

green April 26, 2007 at 10:55 pm

I can’t believe this is a police car

How to start a clothing line from scratch May 1, 2007 at 10:15 am

I saw this video a while back…all they drive are chargers around here.

Market Matador May 1, 2007 at 3:29 pm

Never in my life have I seen anything like it. That’s truly an amazing car. Wonder who decides who can drive the car. ?

Great post!
