Now This Is A Police Car

written by John Chow on April 24th, 2007

Now why can’t the Vancouver Police get anything like this? I think the only non-sedan police car they have is some riced out Honda Civic. I wonder if the police officers in the station fight over who get to drives this car?

I bet … People in the US would still try to outrun the cop if they saw that in the rear view mirror …

 Just some crazy people out there!

Wrong-O John. The police down in Tsawwassen, near the ferry, used to run a Dodge Stealth, though I’m not sure if they use it anymore.

That was one sexy cop car.

Please don’t tell me you just compared a Dodge Stealth to a Gallardo…

John: the cops here in Vancouver have a supercharged Mini and a WRX STi as far as I know.

I’ve seen pictures of a Viper police car. Can’t picture that being anywhere but the US ;)

Oh ya, I forgot about the WRX. But I didn’t know about the blown Mini.

Soultrance said on April 24th, 2007 at 9:51 pm

Definitely not comparing the two, no comparison to make there, was just saying there is something other then the usual Lincolns cruising the streets around here.

Never seen the WRX or Mini before, very cool.

Ed Lau said on April 24th, 2007 at 9:55 pm

The Mini was made as part of the now defunct PACER program but is a regular cop car/show car. I know the driver well as he is an active REVscene.net user and shows up at all our meets.

The local police just got one here.

I bet it gets wrecked eventually. I doubt they can speed all around Italy and not bumb something eventually.

As for the competition as to who gets to drive it, I’ll be that if you’ve had an accident before, you’re out of the running :)

A cop who gets speeding tickets while off-duty…he should get to drive the car.

Believe it or not that car was actually a gift from Lamborghini to the Italian police. A $280,000 gift… pretty nice of them huh? I could use a gift like that.

$1,000,000

The cops in Toronto were running a couple of stripped-down Camaro Z-28s that were basically street-legal race cars (top speed around 165 mph) but I think they have replaced them with Hemi Chargers.

To chase Lamborghinis, you need a Lamborghini. I bet German cops have some Porsches.

Just Marketing :) Lamborghini gave that car for free to police for PR. I guess after that video it has been parked and never used ! At least I’ve never seen a car like that used in everyday jobs by italian police :)

Kinda like Ferrari giving the last Enzo to the Pope. Of course the Pope has no use for it.

Ahhh come on! Of course the pope has use for an Enzo! I bet he takes that thing on some back road in Rome and just lets it loose. Haha, funny mental image eh?

Picture of the pope driving his Enzo (haha)

So come to find out, the car was given to the pope, and sold for $1.2 million. The money was used to support the tsunami relief efforts in southeast Asia.

That sounds rather reasonable. I’m glad to hear that’s what happened. Someone who wanted an Enzo got one, the church was able to help the needy, the needy got some of the help they needed. Win, win, win.

Here in Michigan, USA I see a lot of Mustangs as police cars. they have the lights built into the grille and set in the windows so you wouldn’t even know if it was a cop creeping up behind you on the expressway.

Depends what they did to the Passat

John-
You really need to come to NYC. Then we could just walk around and look in public garages at cars like this or this one…
http://tinyurl.com/2yjyun

Just had one pull in front of me on a sidewalk into a public parking garage…always think of the scene from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off with the parking attendants driving the Ferrari when I see someone parking in a garage like that.

Maybe I should get a temp job at a garage….
