On The Lab with Leo Laporte Today
written by John Chow

If you have G4 Tech TV or the How To Channel, you can see me on today’s episode of The Lab with Leo Laporte. Check your local listing for air times. I will be talking with Leo about ways to monetize your blog.
Leo Laporte is an award-winning technology journalist, best-selling author and broadcaster. In addition to his many years hosting Call For Help and The Screen Savers, Leo hosts the syndicated radio program The Tech Guy, and continues to work on a number of podcasts on the TWiT.tv network.
I have been invited back to do two more segments with Leo for future episodes. I do not know when those new episodes will air but we’ll be taping them in the next two weeks. As you can see, my publicity train is running at full speed. Google? Who needs Google? ![]()

Is he wearing a salmon colored shirt?
It looks like he’s wearing salmon. I admire men, both gay and straight, who aren’t afraid of a little pink in their wardrobe.
what’s wrong with pink?
my boyfriend has got a couple pink shirt and i think they look good on him
Nothing, it just always reminds me of that episode of Friends where Ross wears the pink shirt, and keeps reminding everyone that it’s not pink it’s ’salmon’.
I once had was stage announcer at a corporate event and the make-up artist made me wear a pink shirt, ’cause she thought it’d fit my type. That felt pretty degrading.
I guess I will be buying a PINK shirt tonite
Hum…
Hey John, is it time to have a free Salmon shirt giveaway?
that would be nice, but i don’t think john would be doing that
All people needs google at some stage
Well John’s well beyond that stage now…
Yeah. just look @ his monthly income breakdown. only 7% of his income is form Google
Definitely, you don’t need them anymore, which is great.
It may not be a case of needing them but while there is still Adsense running on the site, there is definitely a case of *wanting* Google.
Considering how little Adsense contributes to this blog’s income, I’d consider removing Adsense completely. Imagine the publicity it would generate and imagine how much easier it would be to read all the posts.
But hey, I got banned, I’m not the best person to listen to when it comes to all things Adsense!
It may bring publicity, but the point of the blog is to teach us how to make money online. If he took out adsense he would lose an income source. Although as you explained he may actualy gain popularity by publicly snubing google:evil: and profiting from it, most of the rest of us do not have that luxury.
I thought the point was miscellaneous ramblings? Hence, the food posts.
Google definitely is one of the centers of traffic gravity.
1000 dollars is 1000 dollars….
and john still needs google
i’m sure john secretly wishes that google hasn’t banned him….
Yah, I hope Google will lift his ban soon… After all, John is a nice guy who give lots of freebies…
I agree… John you need Google han…
John may not, but I must admit I kinda do.
same here
There are few who don’t!
I used to never watch G4, but since I’ve started blogging, lots of things in my life have changed, I went from wanting to be like Mike, to wondering, “What Would John Chow Do?”.
I’ll be glued.
Are you sharing tips you haven’t shared here?
I don’t get the station, but now that John’s on it and the IT Crowd is on it, I may just have to add it to my cable package.
Ok, that guy is definitely wearing a salmon shirt.
And it looks good on him.
Well, most need Google at some point. But one can sleep better if traffic pours in from other sources as well.
Congrats John to your new task.
Wow john, it seems Lady luck is on your side.
No doubt this will generate a lot of buzz and make this Month ever better then the
one before.
With that BC Business spread and the TV guesting — John will definitely be seeing more activity in his revenue charts.
John your success keeps on..great work once again..I’m going to look for this show today, I’ve seen it on before..

You might be able to find the segments on a site like Youtube if anyone uploads it.
Then I hope somebody will upload it! HINT HINT people
I agree I hope someone uploads it, although I think that G4 has some of it’s segments on it’s website.
check youtube, and i think once it’s available online, it’ll be on youtube
We don’t get it over here either. We can always wait for someone to upload bits on YouTube, that’s right.
I’ll be watching! Free publicity rocks!
john you are a geek!
