PhantomPark – Getting Two Cars In That One Car Garage

written by John Chow on May 23, 2007

How to make $593 in less than one hour

The PhantomPark is a really cool way to fit two cars in a one car garage. It’s also a very good way to hide that super expensive sport car from the IRS. I’m sure there are safeguards to prevent the PhantomPark from rising when there is a car on its roof. The system won’t work where I live because Richmond is at sea level. If I try to install a PhantomPark here, the car that goes down will get very wet.

I wish I had the problem of not having enough space to park my two luxury cars.

Kumiko May 23, 2007 at 2:55 pm

As a collector of foreign luxury cars, I actually have the double garage version of this!

Yet another reason to be jealous of Kumiko… My list is getting long…

hahaha yes, stolen cars there

Aaron Cook May 23, 2007 at 1:23 pm

That’s definitely a good solution for parking when you don’t have enough space.

But like you mentioned John, it’s gotta be in a high and dry place I’m sure. It wouldn’t take too much rain or water to fill up the holding area below enough to flood the car…unless that area is hooked up to a water release/drainage system or something of course.

I bet you Batman could use a couple of these.

Marc May 23, 2007 at 3:50 pm

They’re probably not long enough for the Batmobile. That thing is long…

And he’s parked in a cave below — imagine how much lower it’s going to be if he did have a PhantomPark… :???:

Derrich May 23, 2007 at 1:53 pm

Seen that before. Definitely a step up from a regular “lift”. Very cool.

website copywriter May 23, 2007 at 11:55 pm

Yeah, a lot of hotels, apartments, and condominium units in Asia (Japan, mostly) have similar parking contraptions to conserve space.

SEO Blog May 23, 2007 at 2:09 pm

Cool!I’ve already seen that for real, in Germany 4 months ago.

gaskin May 23, 2007 at 2:46 pm

cool, but with that much money to throw away why not buy a bigger house or buy the house next door and turn it into a garage?

Arcom May 23, 2007 at 3:24 pm

Because then you won’t have the “PhantomPark: Now you see it, now you don’t” garage

At least they could get someone with a smaller house and not so luxurious cars. If I had such house and cars, I would definately be able to afford a normal garage…one that I would be able to leave from when a power outage occurs

Marc May 23, 2007 at 3:50 pm

Location, location, location.

is that your car and your house john?

it looks like a big mansion

Law of Attraction May 23, 2007 at 9:56 pm

ya which car is the second one?

InvestorBlogger May 23, 2007 at 5:49 pm

Actually, that would be a great way to park! I have tried automated garages like that with lifts and stuff in Taipei. First time to use it is a little freaky… but they work. I never got trapped inside!

Cool:)

ElectroGeek May 23, 2007 at 7:39 pm

I’m sure that thing costs a fortune. Why not use an electric lift that lifts your second car above your car. They bolt right to your garage floor and cost about 5K which I’m sure is definitely less than that setup. :???:

Ah what about using it as a secret office for you John? You could put all your “evil” ideas into one secret place?

website copywriter May 23, 2007 at 11:58 pm

It could serve as a secret storage room, right you are.

Law of Attraction May 23, 2007 at 9:53 pm

wow this is cool…i onder what happens to the water hose and other stuff which hangs on the garage door:D

website copywriter May 24, 2007 at 12:01 am

It would be awesome to own a secret parking space like PhantomPark alright, but if I had a bunch of luxury cars I’d park them all right outside if I could LOL.

daily comedian May 24, 2007 at 6:26 am

speaking of cool gadgets for cars…i still want the license plate flipper from Bond…this one is a poor man’s version…

valet parking May 24, 2007 at 11:22 am

This is a great way for anyone to park their car on top of their kids car, so they would be locked out.

Softsled May 25, 2007 at 2:29 pm

That just might make it worth the cost…lol.

Digitalcameratips May 24, 2007 at 12:37 pm

Funny thing I didn’t see any camera crew around my house

Did anyone find out how much it costs?

JD Lusan June 9, 2007 at 8:49 am

This is awesome. Great hiding place. I think I will link to this.

Matt - Domain Feed June 12, 2007 at 12:19 pm

This seems terribly excessive…why not just park in the driveway? Or if you really have money to blow on this type of stuff buy a new house instead.

Matt - Domain Feed June 12, 2007 at 12:29 pm

Oh I just realized they don’t have a driveway in the video…nevermind.
