PhantomPark – Getting Two Cars In That One Car Garage

written by John Chow on May 23, 2007

How one lazy bum made $176,697.50

The PhantomPark is a really cool way to fit two cars in a one car garage. It’s also a very good way to hide that super expensive sport car from the IRS. I’m sure there are safeguards to prevent the PhantomPark from rising when there is a car on its roof. The system won’t work where I live because Richmond is at sea level. If I try to install a PhantomPark here, the car that goes down will get very wet.

This seems terribly excessive...why not just park in the driveway? Or if you really have money to blow on this type of stuff buy a new house instead.

Oh I just realized they don't have a driveway in the video...nevermind.

This is awesome. Great hiding place. I think I will link to this.

another toy only for the rich...

Did anyone find out how much it costs?

need money for second car first...then only think about phantompark

I still don't even know how to ride a bike, damn NYC'er that I am.

That's pretty sweet.

Funny thing I didn't see any camera crew around my house

This is a great way for anyone to park their car on top of their kids car, so they would be locked out.

That just might make it worth the cost...lol.

speaking of cool gadgets for cars...i still want the license plate flipper from Bond...this one is a poor man's version...

It would be awesome to own a secret parking space like PhantomPark alright, but if I had a bunch of luxury cars I'd park them all right outside if I could LOL.

wow this is cool...i onder what happens to the water hose and other stuff which hangs on the garage door:D

Ah what about using it as a secret office for you John? You could put all your "evil" ideas into one secret place?

It could serve as a secret storage room, right you are.

Thanks for the linkback John. I'll be sure to send over any more tidbits I find.

Anyone using Windows Media Center should checkout The Softsled Project.

I'm sure that thing costs a fortune. Why not use an electric lift that lifts your second car above your car. They bolt right to your garage floor and cost about 5K which I'm sure is definitely less than that setup. :???:

Actually, that would be a great way to park! I have tried automated garages like that with lifts and stuff in Taipei. First time to use it is a little freaky... but they work. I never got trapped inside!

Cool:)

is that your car and your house john?

it looks like a big mansion

ya which car is the second one?

cool, but with that much money to throw away why not buy a bigger house or buy the house next door and turn it into a garage?

Because then you won't have the "PhantomPark: Now you see it, now you don't" garage

At least they could get someone with a smaller house and not so luxurious cars. If I had such house and cars, I would definately be able to afford a normal garage...one that I would be able to leave from when a power outage occurs

Location, location, location.

Cool!I've already seen that for real, in Germany 4 months ago.

Seen that before. Definitely a step up from a regular "lift". Very cool.

Yeah, a lot of hotels, apartments, and condominium units in Asia (Japan, mostly) have similar parking contraptions to conserve space.

I bet you Batman could use a couple of these.

They're probably not long enough for the Batmobile. That thing is long...

And he's parked in a cave below -- imagine how much lower it's going to be if he did have a PhantomPark... :???:

Thats Awesome ... in florida ... my 2nd car would be under water though ... they need to make on that goes up instead!

LOL

That’s definitely a good solution for parking when you don’t have enough space.

But like you mentioned John, it’s gotta be in a high and dry place I’m sure. It wouldn’t take too much rain or water to fill up the holding area below enough to flood the car…unless that area is hooked up to a water release/drainage system or something of course.

Nice way to park cars, specialy to hide them..

I wish I had the problem of not having enough space to park my two luxury cars.

As a collector of foreign luxury cars, I actually have the double garage version of this!

Kumiko

Yet another reason to be jealous of Kumiko... My list is getting long...

hahaha yes, stolen cars there
