PhantomPark - Getting Two Cars In That One Car Garage
written by John Chow on May 23rd, 2007
The PhantomPark is a really cool way to fit two cars in a one car garage. It’s also a very good way to hide that super expensive sport car from the IRS. I’m sure there are safeguards to prevent the PhantomPark from rising when there is a car on its roof. The system won’t work where I live because Richmond is at sea level. If I try to install a PhantomPark here, the car that goes down will get very wet.

Nice way to park cars, specialy to hide them..
Reply to this commentI wish I had the problem of not having enough space to park my two luxury cars.
Reply to this commentAs a collector of foreign luxury cars, I actually have the double garage version of this!
Kumiko
Reply to this commentYet another reason to be jealous of Kumiko… My list is getting long…
Reply to this commenthahaha yes, stolen cars there
Reply to this commentThat’s definitely a good solution for parking when you don’t have enough space.
But like you mentioned John, it’s gotta be in a high and dry place I’m sure. It wouldn’t take too much rain or water to fill up the holding area below enough to flood the car…unless that area is hooked up to a water release/drainage system or something of course.

Reply to this commentI bet you Batman could use a couple of these.
Reply to this commentThey’re probably not long enough for the Batmobile. That thing is long…
Reply to this commentAnd he’s parked in a cave below — imagine how much lower it’s going to be if he did have a PhantomPark…
Reply to this commentSeen that before. Definitely a step up from a regular “lift”.
Very cool.
Reply to this commentYeah, a lot of hotels, apartments, and condominium units in Asia (Japan, mostly) have similar parking contraptions to conserve space.
Reply to this commentCool!I’ve already seen that for real, in Germany 4 months ago.
Reply to this commentcool, but with that much money to throw away why not buy a bigger house or buy the house next door and turn it into a garage?
Reply to this commentBecause then you won’t have the “PhantomPark: Now you see it, now you don’t” garage
At least they could get someone with a smaller house and not so luxurious cars. If I had such house and cars, I would definately be able to afford a normal garage…one that I would be able to leave from when a power outage occurs
Reply to this commentLocation, location, location.
Reply to this commentis that your car and your house john?
it looks like a big mansion
Reply to this commentya which car is the second one?
Reply to this commentActually, that would be a great way to park! I have tried automated garages like that with lifts and stuff in Taipei. First time to use it is a little freaky… but they work. I never got trapped inside!
Cool:)
Reply to this commentI’m sure that thing costs a fortune. Why not use an electric lift that lifts your second car above your car. They bolt right to your garage floor and cost about 5K which I’m sure is definitely less than that setup.
Reply to this commentThanks for the linkback John. I’ll be sure to send over any more tidbits I find.

Reply to this commentAh what about using it as a secret office for you John? You could put all your “evil” ideas into one secret place?
Reply to this commentIt could serve as a secret storage room, right you are.
Reply to this commentwow this is cool…i onder what happens to the water hose and other stuff which hangs on the garage door:D
Reply to this commentIt would be awesome to own a secret parking space like PhantomPark alright, but if I had a bunch of luxury cars I’d park them all right outside if I could LOL.
Reply to this commentspeaking of cool gadgets for cars…i still want the license plate flipper from Bond…this one is a poor man’s version…

Reply to this commentThis is a great way for anyone to park their car on top of their kids car, so they would be locked out.
Reply to this commentThat just might make it worth the cost…lol.
Reply to this commentFunny thing I didn’t see any camera crew around my house
Reply to this commentThat’s pretty sweet.
Reply to this commentI still don’t even know how to ride a bike, damn NYC’er that I am.
Reply to this commentneed money for second car first…then only think about phantompark
Reply to this commentanother toy only for the rich…
Reply to this commentDid anyone find out how much it costs?
Reply to this commentThis is awesome. Great hiding place. I think I will link to this.
Reply to this commentThis seems terribly excessive…why not just park in the driveway? Or if you really have money to blow on this type of stuff buy a new house instead.
Reply to this commentOh I just realized they don’t have a driveway in the video…nevermind.
