Picking Up The New Car
Today was an exciting day. Not only did I made it into the July issue of BC Business magazine but I got to pick up my new family car. Our old Acura TL was coming up on four years and that’s about the longest I keep a car. We searched high and low for a replacement to the trusted family mover but in end, we got another Acura TL. One of the deciding factor that kept me as an Acura customer was the $1,500 coupon Acura sent me.
I purchased the car yesterday. The entire sales process took about ten minutes. I don’t believe in spending hours fighting back and forth with the sale person (at least not unless I feel like it). Sarah and I went into Richmond Acura, told the salesman we wanted the TL, told him the price we were willing to pay and said, “We want it now!” Richmond Acura did everything we wanted except for giving the car to us on the spot. They needed some time to prepare the car for delivery.
Taking Delivery

Marco Wu of Richmond Acura fills out the final paper work. Sally is more interested in the red MDX. I considered getting the new MDX but I still like the ride of a car more than an SUV.

The new TL at home in the garage next to the RSX. All my previous Acuras have been black but I wanted a white one this time around. A white car isn’t very evil but I don’t need an evil family car.
Now we just have to sell the old TL. Anyone want to buy it?

Grats on the new car!
Reply to this commentAlthough I think the MDX would have given you more room to grow with your family. But then again, you buy a new car every 4 years so whatever
congrats on getting a new car! i can only afford second-hand ones.

Reply to this commentSame here.
Reply to this commentwell that’s whole lot better than no car
Reply to this commentTrue. I don’t even have a car because I can’t afford insurance.
Reply to this commentAwww. Hope you get it soon!
Reply to this commentI’m planning to get a the new toyota camry….It’s driving me crazy!!!
Reply to this commentHey, second hand cars will get you there just as well as new ones. Well, as long as they’re not about to fall apart like mine is!
Reply to this commentI can’t really afford an new Acura, but would luv to pick up a second hand one, so how much do you quote?
Reply to this commentActually, I have much respect for people who own second-hand cars yet manage to keep them in tiptop shape. I, myself, would love a beat-up yellow Chevy Camaro with a “bee-otch” air freshener hanging on the rear view mirror.

Great!. he buy a new car every 4 years,
Reply to this commentNice new car John. I’m car searching myself as well. I hate looking for the right car, I can never decide what I want.
Reply to this commentNo Mercedes clk63 Black Series? Lol, just kidding, congratulations on the car
Reply to this commentthat’d be nice, though it wouldn’t be fit for john’s family
Reply to this commentBut it would look nice. That’s all that matters
.
Reply to this commentWell, it definitely suit his family…John, wife and child…3 of themmmm no space problem
Reply to this commentNice new car John! White isn’t that bad of a color. Both of those cars are pretty nice actually.
Reply to this commentyup…both car looks nice…like the rsx
loyal acura fan?
Reply to this commentSweet ride, but even sweeter negotiating skills!
I agree, the going back and forth is a royal pain and I think I might have to try your method next time I’m looking for a new ride.
Reply to this commentYeah the haggling part is why I hate buying a car. Best thing to do is make your offer and make sure they have your contact info, so if they don’t bite at the dealership - walk away. I did that and had the dealer call back two days later and want to take my original offer.
Life would be a big pain if we negotiated every purchase we made… lol.
Reply to this commentHaha, imagine if we had to haggle every time we went to McDonalds or the grocery store. “What? 50 cents for a bell pepper?! I’ll give ya 34!”
Reply to this commentlol, in some countries people still do negotiate when buying practically anything.
Reply to this commentThe longest time I had to spend in a car dealership was 4 painful hours — with my mom. She couldn’t decide on a car, and when she did she’d change her mind. Never go car-shopping with your mother unless she’s buying you a car, too.
Reply to this commentCongratulations on the car John
Reply to this commentYes, this is a great car. I do like white cars also.
Reply to this commentVery nice car. Why you gonna sell the old TL? Just keep those two nice cars!
Reply to this commentHAHA, JOHN Put this on a contest..

Reply to this commentgiving away a car would def get some publicity. Just look at oprah.
Reply to this commentjohn’s generous, but not that much
Reply to this commentHow can you be so sure
?
Reply to this commentHaha we could dream, but John’s no Oprah yet that’s for sure.
Reply to this commentI agree with Santosh P; another contest for your old beater… Oh, and mail me my 24″ monitor already…
Reply to this commentHahaha, you know that’s mine, right?
Reply to this commentDont fight… Its only mine..
Reply to this commentHow I wish I stay in your neighbourhood… my country doesn’t have this MODEL at all!!! *sigh*
Reply to this commentIsn’t the car nice and sexy?
Yep, sell your TL on auction..
Reply to this commenthmmm… Whatya spose it would bring on eBay? I can see the title now… “Make Money Online Buy John Chow’s Acura TL” Maybe a subtitle with the real details…
Reply to this commentHaha, wonder how much it’d go for o.o.
Reply to this commentVery nice car, wanna hand over the keys? haha thatd be crazzzy if you did a contest for a car you’d be getting like 10x the amount of buzz you already get!
Reply to this commentBut think about how much he’ll spend for shipping if someone from out of the country won. Yeowza.
Reply to this commentThat will be me! Try shipping to Singapore..
Reply to this commentHaha if he ever gives that car away, I earnestly hope you win, man.
Reply to this commentDoes it have the leather seats that fat lazy Canadians prefer?
Reply to this commentYep, Aurca TL come standard with leather. You can’t get cloth even if you want it.
Reply to this commentWhat’s the top speed?

The TL is a great car though, can’t go wrong with an Acura.
Reply to this commentYou should obviously give the car away to a random commentator on this post…..
Reply to this commentAh, someone already posted that, touche.
My brother had a TL, I liked it till he decided to upgrade to an M3.
Reply to this commentYa Andrew

Reply to this commentWhat’s the mileage?
I’m pretty sure you could sell it on this blog!
Kenneth
Reply to this commentMaybe mark a little “JohnChow.com” on the side for publicity?
Reply to this commentI agree, your other car has The tech zone on it so why not have the new car with johnchow?
Reply to this commentI have to say John Chow is one awesome guy. I posted a similar request to some high profile bloggers to check out my blog (dosh dosh, problogger, and a few others)and comment with any advice, or criticism (it’s what they blog about, why not?).
In the end, John Chow was the only blogger who didn’t delete my comment. If the other high profile bloggers don’t like the idea of helping someone in an ambitious project that is right up their alley… why blog on that topic?
Hopefully I’ll get to hear from you via a blog comment at my page Mr. Chow.
Until then… Keep giving the rest of us reason to dream.
365 Days… Can I Do It?
Reply to this commenthttp://onemansgoal.blogspot.com
It looks fantastic!
Reply to this commentSo, why did you not trade the old car in when you bought the new one?
Reply to this commentThe old TL is from the US. We’re selling it back in the US.
Reply to this commentYep, this time less evil ;). Grats!
Reply to this commentHow much did Acura pay you to make this post? lol, just kidding. I wonder if they knew who you are. You should of walked in there and been like “I am the blogger that was once (hopefully again) ranked #1 for the search term ‘make money online’ and I want a car… for cheap. I’ll make a post about Acura too.”.
Reply to this commentGreat choice!
Reply to this commentDid they recognize you?
The TL is pretty sweet, why not a Type-S John? Since you are sticking with a TL, why not getting a more top of the line one?
-Swapw
Reply to this commentThe Type S is nice but it was more than we need.
Reply to this commentThat comment alone explains why John is as well off and successful as he is.
Yes, he could have spent more for the nicer/bigger car but he knew it would be a waste of money to do so. All those little savings throughout the day make the difference over the course of your life.
Reply to this commentWaw man! make a contest with the car
Reply to this commentYeah! A Type-S would also be good.
Reply to this commentI’ll buy the themore evil
black one for 50p £ sterling.
Reply to this commentBlack is smooth and elegant!
Reply to this commenti would like to buy the car with my 1 year assist to you,JOHN. =D

the black one in that picture looks beautiful
Reply to this comment

Reply to this commentthats pretty sweet, but not better than my noisy, old toyota camry, maybe i should post that on my site http://www.clickfornick.com
Who cares about the car, I want to see more baby pics!
Reply to this commentJohn is a proud dad.
Reply to this commentWho isn’t? (except people who aren’t parents or have kids in Jail)
Here in Japan they say “Oyabaka” which is like crazy parent love, or obsessive parental love. My students say this about me all the time. I’m proud of it.
Reply to this commentNice ride, I’d get one too if I needed it
Reply to this commentCheck out the Audi R8 in my blog!
Reply to this commentIt’s awesome.
Nice car, I could use a new one myself!
Reply to this commentNice car John. You should sell your old TL to the douche bag kid that was looking for the Audi TT handout. Sell it to him for 125% over blue book and teach him how to haggle.
Reply to this commentCongrats!!!!
Reply to this commentI was just there at Richmond Acura yesterday!
And congratulations. White isn’t very evil.
Reply to this commentVery clean, wholesome, and family-oriented indeed.
Reply to this commentHahaha, too bad you didn’t see him. That would’ve been crazy … and kind of awkward.
Reply to this commentI know… It’s funny we haven’t actually met yet, considering Vancouver is an easy place to run into people.
Reply to this commentWhite is angelical!
Reply to this commentHey! Sally has great taste in cars! hehe Congrats on the new car! That is our goal after the wedding!
Reply to this commentwhy didn’t you tell me you had an RSX … i’m a fellow Acura Guy … I have a 01 Type-R … Wanna Race?

Reply to this commentoOoOOhh! Nice ride! I miss the acura integras.. but the TL’s are awesome too. Congrats! It’s been a good week for you, eh? *=)
Reply to this commentwow! congrats for your new car!
Reply to this commentWhere’s the Pagani Zonda?
Reply to this commentI smell a John Chow gives away an Acura contest

Reply to this commentI suspect he has an extra acura to be given away in the next post!
Reply to this commentNice work on sticking with an Acura. After driving a 98 GS-R, and 98 1.6EL I am hooked. Time to lower that TL!!
Reply to this commentwow, and all that from blogging??? hehe nice choise!
Reply to this commentI know! I was just thinking today how John Chow makes a lot of money and how people working 9-5 jobs don’t even make as much as him. It’s crazyyyyy.
Reply to this commentFor that price range, I would have also considered the 300C, faster (390 torque vs 233), bigger (in every way), better looking (imo) and with Mercedez technology. The 300c’s fuel economy is slightly higher but with it ability to use regular gas and the Multiple Displacement System should narrow that gap.
Reply to this commentThe 300C is a very nice car but the interior looks cheap and uses way too much plastic. Love that motor however.
Reply to this commentVery nice cars, but I’m with Sally, the red one looks fun!
Reply to this commentAnd red’s supposed to be a lucky color, too, right?
Reply to this commentThat is a nice car. Enjpoy it!
Reply to this commentI see a nice opportunity to start another blog contest ‘win cars with John Chow dot Com’
Reply to this commentI smell another income stream in the form of an Acura sponsership.
I just ordered a Infinity G37 myself so cheers to the new ride.
Reply to this commentGreat lookin ride! Congrats on the new purchase..
Reply to this commentI will never have the chance to buy that cars.
