Post Level Text Link Ads Pricing Explained

written by John Chow on May 4th, 2007

Unlike normal Text Link Ads pricing, which is based on Alexa, Google PageRank and other factors, Post Level Text Link Ads pricing is based solely on Google PageRank. The prices for a post level link are as follows.

  • PageRank 2 - $5.00
  • PageRank 3 - $6.00
  • PageRank 4 - $8.00
  • PageRank 5 - $10.00
  • PageRank 6 - $25.00
  • PageRank 7 - $50.00

Posts with a PageRank less than two are not eligible. I haven’t came across any posts with a PageRank of 8 or higher so I have no pricing info on those. My guess would be $100 for PR8 and $200 for a PR9.

Basing post level test link price solely on Google PageRank means blogs of all sites are on the same playing field. A PR4 post on this blog is worth the same as a PR4 post on any other blog. The thinking behind this, and I assuming here, is because these posts are no longer on the front page, most (if not all) of the traffic will come from search engines like Google. The higher the PageRank of a post, the higher the chances of it showing up in a Google search.

This assumes that Google thinks a PR4 post on a PR6 blog is the same as a PR4 post on a PR5 blog. However, I am pretty sure that is not the case. At any rate, sales of the new Post Level TLA have been going well on this blog - I have sold nine spots already and rejected three. Four hundred and fifty four more post link sales and I’ll be sold out. At least until the next Google PageRank update.

Thanks for this. I wasn’t gonig to worry about this post-level thing, but I might as well give it a shot. Hey, $10/month is $10/month, maybe a few times.

Hmn…454 posts? But, John, how many of those are PR 2 or higher =? Or are those already have PR2 or higher?

All 454 are PR2 and higher. This blog has over 1,000 posts.

I’m right behind you with about 600 posts!

The only downside is you have to activate every post one-at-a-time in the TLA backend!

They should add a “select all” and “invert selection” buttons.

So, who’s going to buy some links on my blog?

Marc said on May 4th, 2007 at 12:06 pm

Do you know why some aren’t selected? When I first looked, about half of my posts were selected, but I couldn’t make heads or tails of why some were and some weren’t.

HMTKSteve said on May 4th, 2007 at 12:08 pm

No clue.

My posts range from PR 3 to PR 5. Feel free to buy a post level link from me!

I think the posts that are not selected has no PageRank yet, or not enough PR.

That would make sense. Given the recent update though, looks like I’ll need to go through and fix it all up.

Steve: I’ll check you out and see if you’ve got anything that fits ;)

John

The city of Sao Paolo just voted a law to eliminate billboards from the city spaces. The rational is that the city spaces are for the public to enjoy and shouldn’t be used for advertising which are delivered more privately in many other ways. I hear Paris is also looking at something similar. Those TLA makes me think a lot at billboards. They’re annoying and polluting my reading. It’s like the interstitial ads or other ads that expand on the content you’re reading when you mouseover them by mistake. Other type of advertising aren’t so intrusive. Shouldn’t a blog post be like a city space…..after all you’re the mayor and we’re your citizen

Not to mention the fact that they are often very relevant to the topic you just finished reading. They aren’t obtrusive and don’t jump around the page or anything. Get a grip.

what if my requirements was to have something relevant and unobtrusive? wouldn’t that be better. May be a space on the side and if i mouse over the keyword, it updates what’s in that space and doesn’t pop up a annoying window that interferes with what i’m doing. Wouldn’t that be better?

I live in Sao Paulo and believe me, the way they did it was just stupid: they removed everything. Now you can’t identify a business by it’s name on the front, you have no way to tell what the place is all about. It’s bad for the business owners and for consumers.

As for the big billboads on the side of driveways, I think it was a good decision.

That’s indeed stupid for the business signs as they’re very useful to the community.

this is fantastic! Can you imagine how powerful this would be for people looking for advertising?

Im not really interested in doing some crazy new blog idea for internet marketing, just because I don’t want to steal all your loyal community members, John, but let me get this straight:

if I had some schmuck of a website, about how to “Roll Big Coin With Text Link Ads”, I can pay you a measly 10 bones per month, and I can get my website to be advertised on your site here? (well depending on what type of google rank this post has?)

Wow, this is better than peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!

It’s all old post that has PageRank. A new post would have a PR0.

I wonder if deep links from the blog itself to old posts help increase PR for the linked posts.

That’s incredible to see the prices for individual post pages, really impressive. Unfortunately my only pageranked item is my homepage, maybe someday I’ll have an individual post that is PRed.

I can’t even get TLA to approve my blog, let alone get them to do individual post links.

Perhaps one day. I do like my PR5 though. It’s a work of art!
