Last year at the PNE I made an impulse purchase on a Vita-Mix Super 5000 blender. This is like the mother of all blenders, and it has a price tag to match. The Vita-Mix is the same blender used by Starbucks and Orange Julius. It’s really overkill for home use – the unit is designed for commercial environments, where it’s working all day long.
We did use our super blender for the first few months but, like most impulse buys, stop using it – until now. I recently picked up a big bottle of Whey protein powder as part of my lose 20lbs by Computex challenge. The Vita-Mix is great for making tasty protein shakes, and it does it in less than 10 seconds. You don’t want to blend longer than that because the blade spins at up 240 MPH, fast enough to boil water with just friction if you leave it on for 5 minutes.
Spending $500 on a blender just to make protein shakes doesn’t seem like a very wise way to spend one’s money but like I said, it was an impulse purchase. Unlike a lot of my other impulse purchases, at least I’m using this one.

Terms like FTP and CPanel are like a foreign language and setting up a database might as well be setting up the space shuttle for a launch. Because of the technology barrier, many would-be bloggers never start their blogs...
