For your Saturday feel good video, I present Sarah Chuman, 29, was born deaf. Until recently, Sarah had never heard the sound of her own voice. However, thanks to a hearing implant, Miss Churman was able to experience a miracle.
She says on her YouTube channel that she’s worn hearing aids since she was two years old and has gotten by on reading lips. Churman goes on to explain the background behind her clear speech:
“My whole life I’ve been complimented on how well I speak. I don’t really have an answer for you other than I have always had a passion for reading, grammar, and English. My hearing loss was/is considered severe to profound. I’ve worked very hard to be able to interact and blend in…..only thing I can say is ‘God is good’.”
The device she’s received is not a hearing aid. It’s implanted in the middle ear and picks up sound through the ear canal, minimizing background noise and acoustic feedback, according to Envoy Medical.
Watch the powerful video below, in which the young Miss Churman hears herself speaking for the first time, and then tell me this doesn’t bring a tear to your eyes.

One of the most common complaint (or excuse) I hear from potential new bloggers is they don’t know how to install WordPress. Terms like FTP and CPanel are like a foreign language and setting up a database might as well be setting up the space shuttle for a launch. Because of the technology barrier, many would-be bloggers never start their blogs...

Well, no one would like to be deaf. Watching the video reminds us that we have something precious that we should be thankful of.
So wonderful. This is the kind of video that should go viral – spreading humanity’s joy
That’s for sure, great video John. Very great news! So happy for Sarah, now that’s really excellent news.
Yeah I’m happy for Sarah too. That video should go viral.
I fully agree with you. Excellent video and it must go viral.

gift of civilization. Gift from God.
This woman’s joy is profound. Thanks, John, for sharing this video today. We who have the gift of hearing are fortunate.

Not really, but pretty close, according to her doctor.
That’s great man, it is God gift.

I think, he is trying to spam little bit. Very close comment is also below.
ya man really god gift thanks for information
That’s touching. I can’t imagine myself in her position. It’s like being born once again. Good for her.
Technology will be used to help humanity and not create more wars, that is why we welcome progress like Sarah Churman.
That is such a touching moment for her.
Hey John,
I saw this story on AOL the other day. It is truly awesome that humans are able to create solutions to problems that many are experiencing.
I couldn’t imagine being deaf, her reaction to hearing herself for the first time is priceless.
Yeah, her reaction was very close to bring out a tear in my eye. Really happy for her.
Wow she sounds really good. I would have never guessed that she couldn’t hear before this video.
I actually didn’t read the article well before playing the video so I kind had no idea too. But I can tell by her reaction that it was the first time she can hear her own voice. I’m happy for her.
Truely fantastic story. It’s amazing what we can do with technology now
Aww. what a wonderful moment for her and her family!!!!
This video is very moving. I am happy to live in an era where technology can make such advances and change people’s life.
It says she has been wearing hearing aids since childhood. I guess she did hear something before with these hearing aids, otherwise I would imagine it would be difficult for her at first to understand people speaking to her: It would take time for the mind to learn how translate the new signals of sound to something meaningful.
I saw this on FB, this was so touching I actually got teary eyed!
This is amazing. So happy for her.
Nice too see something good happening for a change…
Really impressive. Hope, that technology will help not one thousand of people.
This is so good to hear. It was a very touching video.
another miracle created by hard working sceintists, god had nothing to do it.
there is many things in this word which is priceless but we never think about it. See this example. How priceless you own voice is?
Lesson I learn from this story is respect every thing, every person, every moment — all are precious and priceless
Its really amazing the woman will be so happy thanks to the creator
Aw man; this is cool stuff to wake up to… I’m a tad overwhelmed. The first thing I thought is: “Man her speech is well leveled and coherent,” but then I read the quote that you posted… This is cool, I will share this video with my friends on G+
