SearchStatus FireFox Add-on
written by John Chow
SearchStatus is a cool add-on for FireFox that every SEO junkie should consider installing. The add-on allows you to display the Google PageRank and Alexa popularity score of a website anywhere in the FireFox browser. In addition, the add-on offers fast keyword density analyzer, keyword/nofollow highlighting, backward/related links, Alexa info and other SEO tools.
For every site you visit using, SearchStatus lets you view its Google PageRank, Google Category, Alexa popularity ranking, Alexa incoming links, Alexa related links and backward links from Google, Yahoo! and MSN. This combined search-related information means you can view not only the link importance of a site (according to Google), but also its traffic importance (according to Alexa), so providing a balanced view of site efficacy.
The SearchStatus Mozilla/Mozilla Firefox extension appears unobtrusively at the bottom of the browser on the status bar. If you choose to view backward links for a particular page, they open in new tabs in the same browser window. Disable the automatic Google and Alexa queries and they fold away from view.
If you’re a FireFox user, SearchStatus is a really cool Add-on. It will give you a ton of information about your site (or any other site) and should improve your SEO if you use the information properly. Get the SearchStatus Add-on here. Thanks to Greg Morgan for the heads up.

Although Alexa is worthless, I’m obsess with watching my site jump ranks week by week hehe. I didn’t want to download the alexa toolbar just to check on my rank each day. The bar you’re recommending might come in handy in other areas so I’ll download.
Thanks for the tip John.
I had that plug in on my firefox for quite some time now. it’s a great thing to have in my opinion.
I’m a fan of this plugin.
That, and it helps little fish become big fish.
Or, you know, medium fish. Or slightly larger little fish, in my case.
I’m right there with you. Small fish in a big pond…but man can we make ripples
Hmm, I never really thought much about the plugins for firefox. I guess I’ll try it tho since many ppl say it’s helpful…
Thanks for the tip John!
I picked it up right away and it looks great.
By the way, I also got some of those RRSP things you were spouting off about!
I just downloaded it and I love it!!
However, the pagerank it gives doesn’t seem to be the same as some other pagerank tools…
It is the same. The PR number you get will depend on what Google server you are on at the moment. It can take a while to update all the server so you may get a different number.
Thanks, sweet mentor.
I’ve just installed it and its coool. Wonder why we never got to know about it since 3rd October, 2006 when it had been released.
It’s a great plugin,I’ve been using it for several months and I do think it’s a must-have plugin!
Lovely extension indeed, I’ve been using it for quite a while, it’s pretty useful and nice to see how your website is doing compared to other sites you visit!

I havn’t come across this plugin before, but it seems great. Will have to try it out. Thanks John
That’s pretty neat, but at some point do you get informatino overload?!
This is a great extension. It’s a great quick reference of the site’s authority. Here are a couple of other great extensions to complement SearchStatus

Just installed this last night and I am finding it very convenient to have a quick snapshot of PR and Alexa on any page I visit.
Great find John. I’ve always just bounced over to IE thinking it wasn’t that big a deal. This plugin is really unobtrusive I like it.
Are there any similar solutions for Opera browser? :>
I need to jump on the band wagon and get on this. I’m on a comp that uses safari at the moment, but will do once i get back to my HP.

Great suggestion. Installed.
I am sure glad I switched to Firefox.
