See You In Seattle

written by John Chow on December 19th, 2007

Sarah and I are off to Seattle for the Seattle Blogger Meetup. I hope to meet all the Seattle bloggers and some John Chow dot Com readers as well. I’ll also be taking care of some business while in Seattle but that’ll only take a few hours. Then we’re just going to shop until the meetup.

Seattle reminds me a lot of Vancouver. The climate is the same – both get a lot of rain. However, the one advantage (or disadvantage depending on how you look at it) Seattle has is a highway going through the downtown core. For whatever reason, Vancouver chose to not allow a highway to enter its city. As a result, rush hour is horrible. Good thing I don’t have to deal with it!

The Seattle Blogger Meetup starts at 7PM at Ralph’s Grocery and Deli, 2035 4th Ave. I was told parking can be tight in the neighborhood. Best bet is to look for a space on Sixth or pay to park in the Warwick Hotel garage across the street for $6. I hope they have good food because I’m still having nightmares from that burger.

  1. Seatle is hot now. Their reputation for coffee and Grey’s Anatomy. Have fun!

  2. That is a funny hamburger story you have there. Ill remember never to eat a hamburger in Vancouver!

  3. John, a side note, whats your favorite plugin that you would recommend to everyone? And why?

  4. East 1st Avenue from Terminal St. to Hwy 1 is the highway they NEVER built!

  5. Sounds like a fun time. Maybe you should go on tour and visit all of the USA. It would be a great vacation and give us an opportunity to meet the infamous John Chow.

    Have fun in Seattle

  6. Have fun in Seattle. Be sure to go see the attractions.

I’ll be going there in march. Too bad you’re not going to be there then! ;)

  9. Sorry I won’t be there either….we leave for sunny southern CA  on Sat. for Christmas with the son, DIL and grandkids. I live just “across the pond” in Port Orchard, WA, so I know what the weather will be like for your visit to Seattle. Wet and wild! :) Hope you have a good visit and a very Merry Christmas and New Year.
