On the last day of Ad:Tech San Francisco, we decided to take a drive out to Berkeley to visit Redux, the makers of FlickIM. Redux is a venture funded startup that’s trying to take over the entire Web 2.0 world (like all startups are). My friend Tyler Dikman is one of the founders.

We also head out to Fisherman’s Wharf to try some world famous clam chowder in a bread bowl. The chowder was good but bread bowl didn’t added much to it. It was a beautiful day and the walk along the pier was really relaxing.

I got a few people asking what kind of hotel charges $48 a day for parking. The answer is the Palace Hotel. As expensive as parking at the Palace was, my room cost 10 times more. At least they give you free bottle water.

San Francisco must have many beauty parlors John than body building centers if we take into account that 1/3 of the people there are gays. Hahaha.

Hmmm…there’s never parking in SF and you seem to want to stay in the best hotel…so $$$ shouldn’t matter to you John :)

True that, $48 per day is actually $2 cheaper than the $50 parking ticket I got at AdTech. $50 for a parking ticket anywhere in SF downtown, can you believe it???

I live in Amsterdam, and parking downtown actually costs 75$ for a full day here.

That reminds me of when me & my family stayed at The Beverly Hilton. It was $400 a night. We didn’t stay there for long, but I loved it. The rooms looked like posh apartments.

What do you think of flick.im? I honestly think that it is another copy cat of meboo, since it’s web based, or even pidgin which I use a lot now or trillian which I used to use. I just wrote a very similar article about that for the new facebook chat app. on my blog, so do you think it’s a copy cat? or is it a new unique product that will actually see the lights soon.

FlickIM isn’t Redux’s main product. I think they did it just as an exercise. I can’t tell you what Redux’s main product is other than say “People discovery.”

I’m not surprised that the bowels didn’t add much to your chowder … I would hope they’d clean them out really well! (Though I don’t think I could eat out of them anyway).

Oh wait … you meant bowls … never mind;)

I agree with the voice. But I’m ionclined to believe that EVERONE who makes a video either for themselves or professionally ALWAYS, repeat always records the tracking music too high and the voice too soft. I quite often DON’T like the background music so I turn the volume down, then when something is being said I have to race to the volume control to turn it up. As I said this problem is universal so I have no critisism of you. THe San Francisco tour of Redux and the Palce Hotel was very nice. But if going to continue to watch, I will only do so if there is a better balance between voice and MUSIC
