The World Cyber Games held its official grand opening ceremony last night. Like all past WCG events, the ceremony was done Olympic-style, complete with the traditional parade of flags from the 74 competing countries. There was also B-Boy battles, videos, speeches from dignitaries around the world, and much more.

In keeping with the World Cyber Games tradition, there was also the moving and ceremonial Fair Play Oath, guaranteeing that each player will play fair, compete at the best of the abilities, and treat every opponent with respect. Doesn’t sound very evil, doesn’t it? No wonder the WCG won’t let me compete.

The games being played at the 2007 World Cyber Games include Counter-Strike, WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne, StarCraft: Brood War, Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs, FIFA 07, Need for Speed Carbon, Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars, Carom3D, Dead or Alive 4, Gears of War, Project Gotham Racing 3, and Tony Hawk’s Project 8.

Entering The World Cyber Games

Upon entering the QWest Field Event Center, you’re greeted by a giant spinning globe. There are red dots on the globe to indicate which countries are playing in the games.

Players and spectators watch the live gaming action on four big screens using what appears to be bean bag chairs.

A close up of the chairs. They actually look quite comfortable. I will try them out later today.

Here’s a video of the grand opening ceremony showing the parade of flags. The video also showed what the place looked like before it got filled up with people.

 Interestung pics! I want to be there!
First photo is the best!

Hey JC your wife doesn't make problems because of those girls? (She should!)

The last I heard being photographed with some girls doesn't automatically mean that you have to nob them, or even that you want to?

You look quite elegant. Good photographs. I wish that you had made the effort to compete and given us the results!!

Nice pics &video. It must have been a lot of fun being there! I love computer games. I'm sure it was a hell of an event! And by the way nice girls you've found there!

Interesting to watch the pictures :)

Providing fluffy cushions at a gamers convention I pure genius. They seem to be at home

i like the bag chairs. that`s the best way to sit for a long time. i wish i could be there too. i just love the games.

I saw Malaysia's flag

Full of fun, when can I be there? I love the games also ;)

Looks great!!!
I wish I were there.

Hey John,
I signed up for your newsletter but I'm not getting anything by email...just a heads up. Right now I am subscribed via live bookmark feed.

Did you confirmed the email?

It amazes me that Brood War is still being played. Classic.

OMG, The girl on the right side it's hot even beeing dressed like a "black and white pikachu"

I'm pretty sure you enjoyed the visit

"black and white pikachu"

lmao =D

John you look great and very successful!!

How does someone "look" successful?

The fact tha he's there and we're not? :D

Its a gamers conference, you dont really have to be "succesful" to go to it,

Good posture... lots of confidence. Nice hair.

You`re kiddin right?

Those bean bags looked more inviting than the cyber babes!
Looks like we didn't miss much!

Bean bags are the ultimate gaming perch, forget about vibrating, heated thingies with speakers built in you just can't beat a good man sized bean bag.

And the cyber babe on the right is OK.

I guess you are married and worried to comment something that is greater than ok?

You guess right (well about being married) but on a scale of 1-10 I'd only give her about a 7 so that's only OK in my book. Good looking girl but just not really my type.

How tall are you, John? 6'2" or so?

Love the girl on the far right

Keep away, I saw her first !

Were those all girls in the top photo?

haha, you're being mean now

any booth babes john?

Are those girls dresse up like cruela devil :?:

Thax for the pics John. It must have been fun

It certainly looks like fun...with all those lovely babes ;).

Thats a hilarious ceremony, wish I was there..

You should've brought back one of thosebright beanbags to give away on your blog ;D

oh man man never changes
