Small Business Marketing Unleashed
written by John Chow

Long time John Chow dot Com sponsor, Search Engine Guide, has announced their Small Business Marketing Unleashed Conference. Taking place on April 21 and 22 in Houston, the Small Business Marketing Unleashed Conference brings the team behind Search Engine Guide and Small Business Brief together for a two day conference that’ll give you the knowledge needed to market your business online.
Instead of hearing a panel of speakers share four different viewpoints, (leaving you to figure out which one is right) we’ll give the stage to one expert who knows how to explain the nuts and bolts of their topic to the small business audience. You’ll get the information that’s vital to improving your online marketing techniques and you’ll get it without the techno-talk and industry jargon so common to larger online marketing conferences.
On day two, we’ll take things a step further, breaking the show down into intensive work-shops that actually walk you through the process of beginning to market your site. Whether it’s keyword research, viral marketing, paid search advertising or a variety of other topics, our expert marketers will walk you through the actual steps of launching your online marketing campaign and will send you home with the knowledge you need to finish the job.
Register Early and Save $125
Registration for the two day conference cost $975. However, if you register by March 15th, you’ll get the early bird rate of $850. That’s a very good price considering the caliber of speakers and sessions at the conference. Attendance is limited to 50 people so you should reserve your space before it sells out. I wonder if I can get Search Engine Guide to give me a couple of tickets to give away?

They should just give a few free tickets instead of giving a discount.
Yep. Also $900 for a two day conference? Gimme a break, honestly. That is way to expensive. And only limiting it to 50 people, they need to provide more seats then that.
They best way to approach this would’ve been to make it $500 dollars per ticket, but provide twice as many seats so that they make more profit and allow more people to come.

The reason for the low number of seat is to offer more one-one-time. Shoemoney’s conference cost $5,000 and is limited to 35 seats.
Either people understand why experts put value on their time or they don’t. Having a low number of seats may make the speaker less money but the attendees sure feel like they’ve got more value. It’s long term gain working here.
Thats cheap…look at the other conferences
Indeed it is cheap, and the conferences are better when the number of attenders is smaller (as John mentioned, more for one on one consulting)
Hi John,
I notice your RSS reader drop to 10239. Right now is 6:17 PM PST 2/21/2008. Was there something went wrong or it drops everyday at this time? I saw your site was consistently having more than 15000 RSS readers for a while.
It’s a FeedBurner glitch. Happens every so often. It’ll be fix tomorrow.
Expensive, but you can’t beat good one-on-one time, especially if they walk you through ways of improving your business. ROI should be pretty good for anyone with a decent site and ready to make take the next step of expanding
You really need to be in the right position to appreciate and be able to act on the advice provided in order to make these conferences worthwhile.
i would really like to go but i have exams around that time.
I don’t know if it’s worth $900 to go to a two day conference. I mean, you might get some interesting information, but no-one’s really going to give away any good secrets. That’s also a lot of money, the amount of money sounds scammy to tell you the truth. If they had honestly valuable information they would either only tell it to their friends or write a book.
So many conferences popping up… tough to make them all even if you wanted to!
That is a bit to much for people to buy.
John Chow forgot we’re all not rich like him.
I would love to go but a grand for a two day conference … that’s just crazy. I mean … zikes …. a giveaway would be great!!
You’re lucky to have the opportunity to go, i’m from the UK and we have nothing like this.
Maybe it’s time to start something and sell your own $850 tickets!
All these meetings and conferences, and I can’t go to any of them! Maybe one day though.
Nice price which is the opposite to what others are saying the reason being is that if you look at other conferences then this is inexpensive, Shoemoneys is $5,000 and for $900 your going to get more time with the “pros” then at other conferences as this is limited to just 50 people
Wow thanks for the heads up!
The prices are stee but well worth it
Do you have to correct the feedburner glitch, or does feedburner do it automatically?
No free tickets this time
