Super Affiliate Strategies That Work

written by John Chow on April 9, 2008

How to make $593 in less than one hour

For those who missed my Affiliate Summit session with Zac Johnson, Amit Mehta and Kris Jones, the Affiliate Summit organizers has posted a video of the hour long Q&A session.

The idea of the session was the talk about different ways to promote affiliate deals. However, most of the people in attendance were on some kind of PPC bent. The majority of the questions went to Amit because he was the PPC expert.

The session was a lot of fun and it was nice to finally meet Amit and Kris Jones for the first time and hook up again with Zac. They’re all great guys and I look forward to meeting them again at a future event.

John, this was definitely a great video! 504 is so slow. Wow… I remember those days. Thanks for sharing! You deserve an XXX Vitamin Water! lol

Monopowiki April 9, 2008 at 3:12 pm

Amen, thanks for the video

Steven April 10, 2008 at 5:15 am

My first PC was a 486 running at 33 MHz and the ones at college ran at 25MHz.

MR. NICE GUY April 10, 2008 at 10:00 am

Thanks for this video John. It’s a great help for bloggers in third world countries who cannot afford to participate activities like this. Huh..it took me two hours to finish the video but it’s worth the time.

Whats up with Zac? he is damn nervous…I thought he was going to cry…
Why is he so scared? He claims that he is been in this arena for 11 years and have been attending such conventions since its beginning.
Is he still a kid?
Doesn’t even know how to speak..
I guess writing is their skills…

And Amit—Pronounce your name correctly eventhough it seems like you were born here or raised here.

Dave Bellows April 9, 2008 at 3:41 pm

You know what, I was thinking the exact same thing when I watched that. It’s really hard to take him seriously or any of the advice he gave seriously when he is speaking like that. I almost thought he was joking initially…

One thing you gotta have going for yourself in the affiliate marketing game, especially if you are trying to set yourself off as a leader in the area, is confidence. Zac looked completely the opposite in that video, he should ask to have it removed ASAP…

Matthew April 10, 2008 at 12:36 am

I’m thinking these 2 comments are from the same person ;)

It just seems like you are jealous of what they have achieved and that shows even more when you start complaining about how to pronounce Amit’s name. Who cares how he says it?

Zen April 14, 2008 at 2:13 am

There is nothing wrong with being a bit nervous, it makes you more human. Zac is one of the most generous and most honest marketers out there, you can learn more from him than any other flameboyant (hyped up) speakers any day.

WordPress Blog Tips April 14, 2008 at 2:26 am

Actually he said he’s been into affiliate marketing since 15 – he didn’t say anything about public speaking. Some people just aren’t as good as others in public speaking but it doesn’t mean he’s not a great affiliate marketer..

Robert April 10, 2008 at 6:52 am

It’s tough to get up in front of a group of people and talk. That just isn’t in the cards for some people.

Syed Balkhi April 10, 2008 at 7:58 pm

Umm I don’t know what you mean by Amit being borned and raised here … by here do you mean U.S be more clear. I think he have a right to pronounce his name however he wants to pronounce it.

Get up in front of this many people and say Yeah I make 800k in 4 months. Zac is modest and a bit shy. Nothing wrong with that.

Ashley April 9, 2008 at 2:34 pm

John – I’ve had a question since your monthly income report which actually is a part of this post, too. You list Affiliate income as more than $7,000. I read your ebook last night I understand your concepts of a pre-sale page. I’m curious, however, could you walk through a few concrete examples of affiliate income from JohnChow.com – show a specific example of an affiliate banner, the actual landing page / pre-sales page, and then how much you made for one specific deal. I think it would be interesting for everyone who reads the site, and a good idea for another post!

Thanks,

Ashley

Wow, this is one I’ve been waiting for. Thanks for the video.

Affiliate Confession April 9, 2008 at 3:29 pm

I’m going to have to watch this later when I get the time. I guess I’ll stay up late tonight. Watched a few minutes to start and yea, Zac looks a little nervous, but big deal, he’s probably not used to doing this.

Azrael April 9, 2008 at 5:15 pm

I love the video except that I can’t go there!

joshuaun April 9, 2008 at 5:36 pm

first time when I see “Super Affiliate” i think is supercalifragilisticexpealidoucious………….hahahahaha

Sha April 9, 2008 at 6:39 pm

Ha, that would probably actually be Mary’s word for being a super affiliate.

Affiliate Confession April 9, 2008 at 8:03 pm

Wow, that sounds like something quite atrocious.

Sha April 9, 2008 at 6:40 pm

14:41 is funny as hell. I liked the look on your face when you heard that pop.

Good video overall.

Chetan April 9, 2008 at 7:14 pm

Amit should be a good person to hear about. And yeah Zac always seems to be a shy guy as people say.

Terry Tay April 9, 2008 at 8:45 pm

I was just able to watch the introductions.

With regards to most of the questions being towards the PPC, didn’t the same thing happen at another summit? I’m sure I read that either here or another blog recently that the people were all interested in the PPC.

Robert April 10, 2008 at 6:50 am

They seem to think that PPC is easier. However, if done correctly, affiliate is the way to go because it’s more lucrative.

Felex Tan April 10, 2008 at 2:13 am

It is a great video.Although i can’t go there ,but at least can watch from video. Thanks for sharing

Fitness Site April 10, 2008 at 5:29 am

I keep on reading affiliate tips and tricks, but not working for me. :(
I am promoting health affiliate on my blog, but still no sale since 3 months.

Robert April 10, 2008 at 6:46 am

Thanks for the video. It was helpful and insightful. I like getting into the minds of other bloggers and marketers.

Mike April 10, 2008 at 7:12 am

Thanks for the video. I’m always interested in hearing from others about this subject.

The Internet Apprentice April 10, 2008 at 9:36 am

I was finally able to watch the complete video, and it was well worth the time. As far as the comments about about Zac being nervous, I’m definitely in the “so what” camp. Public speaking isn’t easy, and part of the reason he’s doing affiliate marketing as opposed to stand up comedy is likely because he’s a little shy to begin with. Nonetheless, I thought his passion came through, which I suspect is the key to his success.

I thought Amit had the best tips. He’s obviously a smart guy. I’ll have to post more on this on my blog later, but i gotta go for now. Again, thanks for the video John!

Excellent video! Showed me that the industry still has room for the determined folks.

Syed Balkhi April 10, 2008 at 7:54 pm

very helpful Video. I loved the fact that most of the questions were directed to Amit. The guy with the question about black hat was funny.

Geiger April 14, 2008 at 8:42 am

Video can’t make it past Zac. Tried 2 different PCs, 2 different ISPs, IE and FireFox.

Wade April 14, 2008 at 1:41 pm

Entertaining for any geek. Wouldn’t recommend for a normal PC user, but anyone reading JC isnt your average PC user.
