Tonight Sarah and I went to see Superman Returns. I have always been a huge Superman fan and was really looking forward to this movie. I wasn’t disappointed either. The movie starts a little slow but gradually picked up the pace as it went along. The special effects were fantastic and the scene where Super gets shot in the eye was amazing.

I don’t want to give too much of the movie away, but the premise of Superman Return is this; Superman returns to Earth after five years to find the world has learned to survive without him, Lois Lane is a single mom and Lex Luthor is planning to rule the world again.

The film doesn’t quite do for Superman what last summer’s “Batman Begins” did for Batman but it goes a long way to load you up with a sense of vivid rediscovery, or what actors call the illusion of the first time. I like how the movie pays respects to the 1978 Superman movie by using the original John Williams music theme and the space-whoosh style credits at the beginning.

Superman Returns is playing in theaters everywhere. It’s a good movie and I highly recommend it. I may have to check out the Imax 3D version as well.
