The Ad:Tech Show Floor

Here’s a quick video I put together from the Ad:Tech show floor. This will be the first of a bunch of videos I will be posting. I took a ton of footage with the little Flip and I’ll go through them later to figure out what to keep and what to throw away.

The Ad:Tech show floor is quite a bit bigger than the Affiliate Summit show floor. However, it’s still no where remotely close to CES. Many of the exhibitors at Affiliate Summit managed to make it to Ad:Tech. It was also nice to see many fellow bloggers making it to the event. I ran into Ian Fernado, Gyutae Park and many others while touring the floor.

why are you throwing cookies at people?

    1. Michael Kwan says:

John may be in his 40s, but he acts like he’s 4. That would explain why he’s unemployable.

      1. If I had his success I would be 4 again too.

      2. David says:

 I’m new to blog,John really did a great job.

      3. Paolo U says:

If I ‘m like JOhn Chow then I wouldn’t want to be an employee.

      4. Ed Lau says:

It’s true. Sometimes when we go places, you have to scold him like he’s a child.

      5. That’s why he has to blog

      6. Syed Balkhi says:

Lol there are some parts of your personality one should never loose and that is one part john shouldn’t loose because he won’t be john if he loses that.

    2. John Chow says:

      It’s not cookies. It’s a mini football.

    3. Tyler Ingram says:

Then what were the things you were tossing over the display prior to the football? Or were you not really throwing them? 😉

      1. John Chow says:

Those were mini footballs. Then I toss a full sized football.

        1. Robert says:

          Small mini footballs?

        2. Wes Mahler says:

          LOL JOHN,
I saw u toss the small football but I can’t believe you tossed the REAL football! lol risk taking entrepreneur, your right on the edge of the stage like the speaker from kodac said lol haha

    4. The girl from offshoring.com was pretty cute. Can you hook me up, John?

      1. Terry Tay says:

Perhaps you can inquire directly with OffShoring.com and say you will only deal with their company through the girl that was at the SF Ad-Tech Show 😆
        ~Terry

  2. car345.com says:

Pretty cool. Looks like he is having lot of fun throwing other’s stuff.

  3. Ashley says:

Any good tid-bits so far? Have you learned any new tricks or gotten any good tips?

  4. MR. NICE GUY says:

Hahaha. Great video John. So, what the Cotton Candy owner did to you after throwing one to the trash. Lol. Hahaha John Chow: The Controversial blogger.

    1. Tyler Ingram says:

He didn’t throw it in the trash, he dropped it off to the side of a vendor’s display 😉

  5. pennyblogger says:

so let me get this straight…. offshoring.com hires talented individuals from the phillipines, and slaves them off for cheap wages so that rich web entrepeneurs can save a buck… and can get someone else to fire them! wow.

other than that, the show looked pretty cool. would have been interesting.

    1. Tyler Ingram says:

India does the same sort of thing. I’ve had people ask me to review their site of ‘talented web designers’ who get paid less than $5 per hour. For me pesonally, I like to sit down with a client and go over their website with them. If they were in the Philippines or India, I wouldn’t get that same personal interaction if I was working for someone over seas designing their website.

    2. Ed Lau says:

Nothing wrong with that. If they could get a job with better wages where they’re from, I’m sure they would’ve done so. Since they can’t, they go through companies like that which hook them up with jobs here. Sure, it isn’t exactly fair but it’s work.

  6. This looked fun. I wish I was there! I’m only a few hours away too. bad Terra! BAD!

  7. Shawn Knight says:

Looks like you guys are having a good time 🙂 I’ll be sure to hang out with you all more at CES hah. Oh BTW, nice shirt hah

    1. Tyler Ingram says:

      Is he wearing OCIA.net shirt?

  8. Jack says:

Thanks for the update John! I like the quick interviews of some of the lesser known companies with unique products. Keep em comin!

  9. John, I trust we will see at least one meal from a swanky restaurant in San Fran?

    1. John Chow says:

      Expect at least two!

      1. Robert says:

Nice! I expect detailed pictures, descriptions of the meals, and a well-thought and commented review. Fine dining is the way to go, man.

      2. Syed Balkhi says:

I am expecting to see those videos … I hope you are not ordering two … so you can throw one away at people

        1. He only throws stuff at Pandas (that’s the rumor).

  10. Ashley says:

Forget the interviews – try and concentrate more on the comedy! Hurl more stuff. I think throwing some liquids might be in order. If you’re going to do interviews try and stick to “Da Ali-G” type of questions.

  11. SiteHoppers says:

    Hey John,

Thanks for the interview today, posted over here:

  12. Everything looks normal, and I’m watching and watching, normal, normal. Looks like any of the dozens of showbiz convention I used to go to in LA during my acting days THEN BOOM! John starts throwing stuff! Really caught me-and I’m sure somebody else-off guard there buddy.

  13. You need to work on your football form internet guru Chow. The life and time of John Chow.

  14. Infogle says:

you thrown cookies or cake ? in the crowd 😆

  15. Offshoring.com looks pretty cool. Kind of like an Elance, but only you hire someone, it sounds like on an ongoing basis.

  16. SiteHoppers says:

Lol… John, you thought I was Gyutae,
I just e-mailed Gyutae to meet me today and he said he was not able to make it….

    I was wearing Gyutae’s T-shirt. Lol….

    Max

  17. James Wilcox says:

So John, where are we having lunch today? I work right across from the Moscone Center 🙂

    1. John Chow says:

I had lunch at Ad:Tech but I’m going to Michael Mina tonight.

  18. Hey john , are you sure youtube has not blocked you?? Every video you are uploading is giving “this video is no longer available” after 12-24 hours. Is this video also deleted ???

    1. John Chow says:

Video is working fine here. Could be a glitch on your end.

  19. Syed Balkhi says:

dude you are crazy. Throwing things in the air lol.

  20. DC says:

What’s with these antics and bursts of jackass like antics? Was it just for the camera? When I walked by you yesterday it seemed like you were as tame as a snail with a dead serious face, wearing a monocle and a bolo tie while relaxing in the rubicon.

    1. John Chow says:

I don’t think that was me you walked by. I don’t wear ties at any trade shows.

      1. DC says:

John I was just joking man. Wow that just blew back up in my face. But you were calm.
