The Crab Pot - Messy Dining At Its Finest

written by John Chow on September 5th, 2008

The Crab Pot Restaurant & Bar is a seafood restaurant in Seattle. They have two locations. One at Pier 57 on the Seattle waterfront and another at Bellevue on Lake Bellevue (which looks more like a pond than a lake).

The Crab Pot specialty is The Seafeast. They take a variety of crab, clams, mussels, shrimp in the shell, salmon, halibut, oysters, potatoes, corn on the cob and andouille sausage steamed with mouth watering spices and pour it right on your table. They give you a bib, a craw breaker and a mallet and let you go at it. It’s not fine dining by any means but it is messy dining at its finest.

The Crab Pot is one of the most enjoyable places to eat in the Pacific Northwest. It’s a shame they don’t have any locations in Vancouver because I would be dining there a lot. If you’re every in the Seattle area, you should definitely check them out. Diner for five came to $150 with tax, tip and drinks.

John,
I think that you should definitely start charging these restaurants for the privillege of having you there and giving the word of mouth about them.

Ok this sounds like a pretty cool restaurant. But I have to ask the question what does all this stuff have anything to do with your niche (MMO/Entrepreneur)???
I love your blog but some of the stuff I get confused about why you write about it.

Ryan, you are what you eat. If you really, really want to be somebody in the field of MMO, you must eat like John. So no more pizza and kebab those make Jake a dull boy (not to mention fat).

I write about it because fine dining is one of the blog categories. That, and writing about it makes the dinner a business expense.

People REALLY need to get off John’s back with this.

At the top, it says MISCELLANEOUS ramblings. It does not say “Ramblings about how to make money online” or something of the sort.

These comments are starting to get old. Read the top for once.

Reminds me of Joe’s Crab Shack in Dallas, TX both for the messy dining and the sign at the front door regarding the no firearms. LOL… God bless America.

I agree - $30/person for that…

There are seafood buffets available for a third of that price.

Heck, I’d be lucky to go out, let alone spend money…heh heh.

Joe’s Crab Shack is a good chain restaurant. But there is/was a place in Galveston, TX (where the people like their guns…) called Fish Tails (Tales?) that had awesome calamari!

That looks pretty good. I don’t know about the corn on the cob though. I would think it would taste kind of gross in there with all that seafood.

I’ve grown up eating food like this! It tastes so good. Definitely one of my favorite dishes.

Have you ever eaten at Paula Dean’s Restaurant in Savannah Georgia? She has a buffet with things like this on it. It’s so good.

And one thing not related to this post… I never realised it before but, you sound like Raymond on the TV show “Everybody Loves Raymond”. Kinda cool!

Great video man. That is one messy way to eat, but my Father-in-law would love it.

I will check it out if I am ever up that way.

Jen and I will be in Seattle later this week for a 60 mile walk for breast cancer. We are walking with a group of affiliate marketers. We definitely want to stop by this place for dinner one night. Thanks for post!
